I feel like Emmrich's romance suffers heavily from the overall lack of choices in the game. The age difference thing gets annoying and intrusive, because I didn't CHOOSE for my Rook to be young. Hell, if Rook is supposed to be THIS young, then why are there mature-looking skin options in character creation? And then there's Emmrich becoming a lich... The man is about to literally turn into a skeleton and worriedly asks how you can stay together after that, and the only options you have are basically: "it's fine", "it's fine 2" and "i'm into it". But yeah, at least his romance is way better than Lucanis'... It's just so sad. I remember first going into Origins with absolutely no intention of romancing anyone, only for Zevran to charm my pants off. I remember being shocked at just how genuinely betrayed I felt by Anders. I remember spending like half of Inquisition flirting with Dorian only to find out he's gay, and actually loving him more as a character for it - and then going for Cullen, whose romance turned out to be so much better than I'd expected. How the hell did Veilguard drop the ball on romance so badly?
Dorian Nailed it. Aside from hia Dad whichbhad to happen it wasn't shoved down your throat. And Inlove that Giselle want to keep my inquistor....um "pure?" My first romance was Solas unintentional. But like Solas, the writing had a way of luring your character in. So my next playthrough was lavellan male. I swear, I trying to romance cassandra. Dorian stole me frim her. And I don't know if all of you have notice or have read in the encylopedia. Dorian has a "thing" for elves. And though he mostly bottoms, if you pay attention and compare his pyshcial behaviour around an elven inquistor compared to the others. It is very different. Before you argue, go watch. There is a difference of you pulling him in, rather than him pulling you in. It's slight, subtle but still noticable. And that takes actors, actually having to reinacte the scenes over and over again. It's not a misstep. They invested time and money into displaying this. Like zevran, when you're elven he tops. With Emmerich...............ok...he's there. But not his characrer's fault, it is al l of the characters. But come on wven aa a woman Dorian asking the naughty scene....yoy had the samw tingle "dang it!! I'm not gay!! But I am now sold in this ship crusie!" Following the investments Dorian was destined to bottom with bull or top witb Lavellan. Everyrhing else inbetween is sweet but on paper and that recipet for the tax return doesn't doesn't span out. It's just for yoh pleasure.
