G Lawson yes! I’m an officer on one of the ships anchored there. Many ships have been coming here as it is a free anchorage space, and we can easily transfer crew between ships if needed. It’s a beautiful sight seeing 10 or so ships anchored surrounding us
@Bud Weiser seriously? With no passengers to carry, those companies go belly up. Just to maintain the ships while their idle costs millions of dollars. Many super rich north Atlantic passenger liners went bankrupt when events caused a lack of business. Its happened before, it'll happen again
@Bud Weiser You're brave. It may take some time after the virus is history for confidence to return to the cruising public as cruise ships have a bad bug breeding record.
Sailed the Sapphire Princess & Star Princess to Bora Bora last year, good ships. Shame to see them all unused. Had to cancel our cruise for May. Lets hope this passes quickly and we can all get back to normal.
Sorry this worldwide health crisis has disrupted your life in so many ways. We're all in this together & we will get through this together. Stay strong my friend!!
Wow I sure hope our economy gets back to normal, I pray for our livelyhood. People need to survive and make a living. I'll go on a cruise ship for a vacation.
Well Mr. Hirsch, my wife and I plus my brother and his wife were supposed to be on the Emerald Princess for a Big 70 Birthday cruise for one of the girls. But alas, Princess cancelled all of their cruises, luckily, before we flew from Los Angeles to Ft. Lauderdale! Received our taxes and port fee's back within a couple of days but still waiting for a resolution of the cruise amount! Had booked this almost a year ago and we all were so excited to cruise once again with Princess.
We were already in Fort Lauderdale when our cruise on the Caribbean Princess was cancelled (flew all the way from South Africa). Still waiting for any reimbursement from Princess Cruises.
Not all those ships are empty, the crew are still on them barred from returning home. Families are only managing a 10 min call once a week because of the high costs. Though in the case of 17 March in the U.K. no calls as phone lines crashed.
My daughter is crew member on the Celebrity Shillouette it's her first time working on the cruise ships. Royal Carribean have been great. When the passengers left She got moved to one of the guest cabins with balcony. She has free internet so can keep in touch with her family and friends here in UK. Not sure when we will get to see her but strange seeing the ship on this video knowing shes on it.
When I saw the royal Caribbean ship I said to my self there my ship but who knows if I’ll still be able to go on October. I really hope so I already bought new Suitcase and bathing suit 😭
You're right about everything but the last item. There are a couple of US regulations they have to follow, health inspection just like every business in America that serves food.
I got lucky...I was on Symphony of the Seas on February 8. It was probably one of the last safe cruises to go on. You can check out the video in our channel FunkyTime.
Some companys are sending ships for overhaules and up grades to mississippi and alabama so they will be ready to go again when things open up again Some are going to the ancohor area off shore of miami to keep from paying port charges.
I'm sad. I was supposed to go on a Celebrity Equinox cruise in late May. Leaving from Port Everglades. With all going on I don't know if I'll get to go :(
1:24 I was supposed to be on the celebrity silhouette on the 3rd if April for two weeks round the Caribbean and it started in that port ffs the corona ruined my trip
Hi Justin, this is the first video of yours that I have watched. Once finished, I subscribed and gave you a thumbs up. I watch PTZtv to see where the ships are at, as well as looking at some of the ports. What I don't understand is this: why don't the ships just set anchor in the waters off of the coast and stay there? There are a few that do, but many others are at anchor and then a few days later they pull up anchor and seem to just 'cruise' up and down the coast, seemingly going nowhere. Can they not just 'park' these big ships, or do they need to keep them running so that everything remains lubricated, etc?
citibear57 I believe your last point is correct. I’m not 100% sure, but I believe it’s to keep the engines warm since they are used to running almost all the time!
Sad to see this. We got off the Norwegian Joy in San Pedro two weeks ago. On Monday the ship cruised with no pasengers back to Puerto Vallarta to dock for the duration of this coronavirus mess. We know one of the crew members and they will be able to get off the ship there and are no only working 6 hours a day instead of 12-13 hrs. Did you subscribe to my channel yet?
Indeed a sad sight. Will these ships ever sail with passengers again? Or will they, like all the A380s and B747s, be cut up for scrap in two or three years?
@@justinhirschcruising OK one last thing. What ever happened to Rachel and why aren't you dating Sarah from the Carnival Breeze back in 2014. She'll be disappointed. You probably need to leave Rachel and go back with Sarah from the Carnival Breeze in 2014
Lots of money going out the smoke stacks on that baby if in this video she is going to a port of call and not a dry dock for refitting. No revenue passengers equals a loss.
And they will be empty of cruisers for a very long time to come. Repurpose as floating stationary hotels, hospital ships , storage for the homeless, scrappage, playgrounds and more.
I did it once. Never again. Prepackaged and corny. ... If I'm going to Jamaica, I want to spend a week and explore the amazing, beaches, culture, food and meet people, not spend six hours in the port area of ocho rios or montego bay and complain that they're dirty tourist traps. Cruising seems to appeal to those with generic taste.
I remember going on emerald princess as my first cruise it was amazing
Nice...
Sad sight to see 😔, this to shall pass, things will return to normal.⚓️🚢💙
Marine traffic shows a bunch on the ships anchored in various places like near Freeport, Bahamas and Tampa

Wow, I never thought that I see a video like this.
Going to be interesting to see what happens. Alot of those companies invested billions into new ships recently. This could be a back breaker
@Bud Weiser seriously? With no passengers to carry, those companies go belly up. Just to maintain the ships while their idle costs millions of dollars. Many super rich north Atlantic passenger liners went bankrupt when events caused a lack of business. Its happened before, it'll happen again

Imagine how good the service will be.
Yep. Virus included... and don't complain if you get sick !!!
Now, these are big beasts of ships. :)
Love the music selection 👍🏾

are we witnessing a seismic shift in how we'll holiday the rest of this decade?

Was on Regal Princess 3 weeks ago i had a great time i felt bad for the people who were suppose to go next 😔
I was on the Oasis of the seas around the same time. I saw your ship when it was in Jamaica.
It's a sad thing to see these beautiful ships empty.
It's worse to see a 60 year old man suffocate to death from pneumonia from COVID 19.
Those people waving to the ships makes this seem so much sadder. They are sailing empty, much melancholy.
John Undli yes, it was a very sad sail away 😔
Go get cleaned up real good, we will be back!! 😁
I was supposed to go on the regal that day :(
Weird and strange to see, great vid mr...let's hope things get back to normal asap.
None of these ships are registered/flagged in the United States. They don't have to pay U.S. taxes nor are they constrained by U.S. regulations.

The pampering service though ............

Do You saw the MSC Seaside anchored off shore Miami??
I get the feeling they want the Gov to buy one from them, and it's not a bad idea. USS Recovery Meadows
I got lucky...I was on Symphony of the Seas on February 8. It was probably one of the last safe cruises to go on. You can check out the video in our channel FunkyTime.
They should use them like an emergency hospital or safety place for billionaires!
@Nakiel Watson yeah really,,but I see 13 other folks agree,,🤦🏾♂️
The Carnival Corporation has offered that.
I would think is because it is cheaper for them to anchor about 12 to 18 miles out than pay port fees !
Some companys are sending ships for overhaules and up grades to mississippi and alabama so they will be ready to go again when things open up again

Let cruising come back !!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder how they determine where the ships would go during all this?
alk61695 other ships are just in the middle of the seas anchored down they plan on staying there for a couple of days
Go to www.cruiseindustrynews.com it lists where the ships are heading and what they are doing!
It's so expensive to stay in port I imagine they find a safe ancarage and stay there.
alk61695 There is an app called Marine Traffic. You can see 18 or 20 cruise ships anchored between Miami and the Bahamas.
I’m supposed to go on the Msc Seaside in April but it got canceled. SMH

Pity about the music, let alone the vessels and passengers
Indeed a sad sight. Will these ships ever sail with passengers again? Or will they, like all the A380s and B747s, be cut up for scrap in two or three years?
The whole world is working on this virus. It's going to be solved quicker than normal.
Good time to do maintenance
From Indiana
Where are these cruise ships going?
Simba's Dad they are all going to anchor points in and around the Bahamas. Celebrity Silhouette is docked 15 miles off the coast of Tampa

Was Steven speilburg”s yacht there?

They are not cruising but sailing to their allocated layup port or anchor position. They will stay there until cruising resumes.

If Trump bails out the industry they should be used as beds to care for Covid 19 Patients
Sorry big it’s kind of dumb to on a cruise at this time, your taking a extremely high risk of Corona Virus 🦠
why are they even sailing if they're empty ?
They are heading to New York and other places to be used as hospitals.
docking fees

@@tonyburzio4107 Correct with certain ships, but haven't been decided yet.
Hospital ships all of them. They should be rushing to fit them out to take the ill.
Who’s going to pay for that and who’s going to pay for it to be reverted back? Who will want to go ship knowing what it was used for after?
