25 years ago I was a field service for a company that sold and rented new Terex cranes and other construction equipment. Every once and awhile I would get sent out to a customers to work on those older cranes like that one. I hated it!! They were an absolute pain in the rear, and generally nasty and cobbled together. Watching you gave me flashbacks of them. Lol Although yours looks like a pretty straight and decent looking machine. I remember Pettibone made a similar machine.

Just a few details for the Galion to be the star of the next step in the crawler work over. Thanks for bringing us along Jeff. Best Wishes to everyone at Anderson Construction.

The gallon was the unit we left the keys in or gave the wrong address to the lowboy driver just trying to "get rid of a nightmare" it was so strong you couldn't overload it without really getting stupid ,but a SOB to fix the manuals weren't complete and left critical stuff out ! That upper boom fitting had adjustment on it from what I recall so you would be able to sync the crowd cylinder with the main boom ,been a long time I might be FOS ! You just amaze me all the time you have relationships with your equipment as do I I watched my dad keep up equipment that were thrown away and use them for decades we didn't have the money for everything we needed but I remember that dam crane beat me up more than anything else! Wish you luck great content god bless you and yours

The manuals definitely leave you scratching your head, they use a relief valve so you can two block it and it will overcome the winch

When you put the counter weight back, use blue Locktite or the equivalent on the threads. Not 2 or 3 drops. Put it on like someone else is paying for it. It’s better than anti-seize for this. The key is it’s anaerobic. Keeps out air. If it keeps out air, it keeps out water, and rust. Works on foundation drilling rigs, on even larger bolts. If you don’t have one of those Parker- Hannifin rigs to filter hydraulic oil (on a hand truck like affair), see if you can borrow or rent one to run your hydraulic oil through to get the water out. Might save you some headaches down the road. Good luck and take care.

You did inspire me to go watch the Torque Test Channel - watched the IR vs Milwaukee 1" impact. The IR does have more scoot, but if it is hard to use...that doesn't matter. Maybe I'll try the Milwaukee one of these days. It's big enough for anything I'll use it for.

We us the milwaukee 1 in drive impact alot at work on the railroad. It's real handy but I question the torque ratings. Certain things we have to go back to either our hyd impacts or even just our 4 ft hand wrenches. It's great though for if you just got a couple things to loosen or tighten.
