  • Designed by Roland Friedberger for Solar Impact:
The entire hull and superstructure design utilize aluminum as the main material. Being a catamaran design, it should offer a more stable and comfortable ride than standard mono-hull craft. This hull comes in with a length of 78 ft. (23.95 m) and width of 39.3 ft. (12 m).
The lower deck offers all housing that may be needed for crew, guests, and owner.
A single master suite with a king size bed and in-suite bathroom with his and hers service.
The remaining six guest cabins each have their own restrooms as well.
Also located on this lower deck is access to a beach club and space for tenders and toys.
The next deck offers a lounging and dining experience. The rear includes a Jacuzzi, large sun pads, and a bar.
The initial stairs that gave us access into the interior of this deck also continue to the third and final deck.
Atop the vessel we will find the navigational deck or fly bridge. But, being on the top deck, we once again find lounging areas for some sun kisses, and a dining table to enjoy meals under a clear sky.
Almost all the upper awning of the craft is covered in solar cells that feed an 800kWh battery. This battery system then feeds two 250kW engines and two 150kW range extenders giving the vessel a maximum speed of 20 knots.

Thinking outside the box. It is a concept...
    Cost:
1- 1.1 millón USD for a bank of 160 batteries weighing 5 métric Tons to reach 800kwh of energy capacity.
2- 2 million USD extrapolating from OceanVolt and TÂMA for gensets and 250 kWh e-power motors
At 100k USD per foot : 8 million usd.

So it may be a concept, but far too many shots of it in the water, once you have seen the yacht 6 times in the water, don't need another 12 times. On board shots are much more important, that is the place people want to see, as it's where they be, not swanning around admiring the outside.

another 5 million would love to have this , I would just live on it and island hop for the rest of my life

I suspect one would be able to easily grow veggies on board - even a chicken coup (eggs & meat)!

What a waste of time, a basic spec would be cruising speed under normal daylight, a spec kept hidden. And battery capacity if you needed to keep cruising overnight. And if a generator is on board if you need to get away from a rain cloud. Sorry I’m going Silent Yachts if I had the money, at least they are up front on the specs.

Why do virtual videos irritate me.. let us know when one is built, and give some specs

Thanks for this kind of videos, exactly my taste! This is a very valuable channel and I'm grateful for the time and the work you're putting in for making this kind of content possible! But sadly, this is also yet another not very honest concept, there's not a lot 'solar' about it. Soon after leaving the marina, it's gonna be a diesel-generator electric hybrid that will burn a LOT of fuel. Seems like a nice marina platform to buy into the illusion of doing something eco-friendly for the people who don't care about the price tag , but outside the marina not an honest eco-friendly cruising vessel. Filled with heavy luxury interior (leading to high displacement), high windage, power-thirsty engines... opposed to very little solar power. How much solar peak power exactly feed into those 2×250 kW engines? Maybe 20-30 kW under unrealistic ideal conditions? In order to push how many tons against wind and waves? That equation will never work. Solar-electric propulsion sounds great as long as you stay below 3-4 tons per 10 kW peak, combined with slender low-drag hulls, all of which is absolutely possible for smaller vessels, with modern foam-cored composites and less luxury. Similar low-weight sailing cats and trimarans do exist and not needing mast, sails, rigging, winches, etc even saves some weight, whereas solar panels are relatively light. LiFePo4 batteries don't weigh more than the diesel engine that loses its purpose, while electric engines are ridiculously light and often don't even require active cooling. I really hope we'll soon see such real bluewater vessels for more continuous (trans-ocean) cruising without diesel generators. Not as swimming luxury apartments, but as an efficient means of recreational transport. Why not? It even sounds more seaworthy being 'reefed' at all times. And with 2-3 engines with separate solar-electric circuits / charge-controllers / batteries there could be redundancy for added safety in order to never lose propulsion and steering. Last but not least, much of the typical maintenance and repair becomes irrelevant without rigging, sails and diesel engines. And brushless electric engines are almost fail-proof. Therefore I'm convinced that solar-electric propulsion will be an alternative (not a replacement) for many sailing vessels, but the one in this video definitely is not it.

wish you could incorporate the following too.
    * a solar thin film kite sail for extra power
    * a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine to augment the battery chargers

The yacht should have hydraulic struts on the SWATH hull. That way they could compensate for any motion and become the first yacht to actually eliminate seasickness.

not even 200 watt panels could supply that behemoth, you are going to need a much larger array than that bimini can hold

@@michaelthomson5125 The power of the panels is not important. Only thing that counts is efficiency.
