B&R MAW /Junxing F165 Unboxing (Same as Galaxy Tourch/PSE Theory) 25" recurve riser

  • B&R MAW, F165, PSE Theory, or Galaxy Tourch. They all list different manufacturing descriptions and this one is cast magnesium as confirmed from Junxing. That was a mistake from my commentary. The Fiber/Maple limb combination is available for $160 shipped from Ebay. No other sellers have this available currently. I know that Archery Supply in AU just got these in and are selling them separately. I got mine off of Alibaba but I got killed on the shipping even though the pieces were super cheap.
    Archery Supply AU has listed this riser for $130 AU $100US and these limbs for $150AU or $115 US so that's what they are saying the market value is.

    Well I received a pair Big Rock F 165 Carbon Fiber foam 790 (Black) 36 pound ILF limbs, from Linyi Junxing Achery Supplies, in China, and installed them on my Junxing F 165 (Blue / Black) 25" ILF Riser, and what a wonderful transformation. The limbs look, and perform beautifully, no vibrations, or hand shock at all, very quiet, with a really smooth action draw back, and release!!! These limbs are the ultimate must have, for any ILF Riser.

    If your take a closer look at the PSE Theory, the riser is designed differently. The riser has a shaped recess, for the clicker plate, that is shipped with it. The B&R MAW/ JUNXING F165/and GALAXY TOURCH have the screw in clicker in front of the riser!

    I just received my Junxing F 165 Blue/Black Riser, from Junxing Archery in China. It really looks beautiful, the Junxing logo printed on the Riser, really draws your attention to the Blue/Black colors. It looks so lovely, I wish I could post a picture to show you what it looks like. Anyway, thanks for posting this great video, and good luck, with your channel!!!

    Here, Dec.24, 2020, I just bought my F165 from Junxing, via AliExpress, for $148 delivered, tonight. It will take a month or so to get here but I've got plenty of bows to entertain me until then. Good shooting. I've heard a lot nice things about this bow.

    Yes if you want to be critical. Same shape vs exactly the same. Copywrite laws refer to "copy" or text but the shape or design is something that can be protected by a design patent which I doubt has been filled for these. When people buy a riser there are performance differences via small differences but I feel like if it's generally performing and has the same general specs that people really buy for the shape/design as it's personal preference. There are a million metal 25" risers that perform similarly in this category. Price, design and weight are probably the biggest factors on choosing a riser like this.

    I received the Big Rock Archery (white) F 165 limbs yesterday, and they look really nice!!! They are very slim, and petite, as well as being light weight. I like the Plain Jane look, because, it makes the riser stand out more!!! It saved me a little bit of money, by purchasing them, which is a good thing. I have to save money, where I can, archery can be expensive, as you know. Take care!!!

      @jamesholley1189 6 років тому

      Yes, they included a string, which cost $3.00/PC, the limbs were $39.00/PAIR, which I thought was really a great price, compared to the Galaxy Tourch, which retails for $149.00! Where I took the hit was, $33.00/EMS for a total price of $75.00, but still, a great deal!!!

    Hey will you be making another video some time to highlight you shooting the B&R MAH? Also, I was wondering, what type of video camera do you use to make your videos? I love the HD quality, and I was thinking about making my own videos in the future.

    • @prairiedillo

      I've used an old Canon point and shoot, my Pixel and my Canon DSLR T3i which is the best. The biggest problem is actually the mic input quality. If you are facing the camera you'll need an external mic. I recently got a Rode Videomic go which I shot my lastest video with. (Rolan Arc) The Decut string jig video had poor video because of this issue.

    Just wondering if the cracks in the grip screw area have caused any problems so far?
    As far as what material this riser is made from, Ali Baba's Junxing website list it as a "Magnesium Alloy", I have seen the Junxing F165 listed as being made of a "Magnesium-Aluminum alloy". The offical PSE sight list their Theory riser as being made of "Cast Aluminum".
    Lancaster advertises their Galaxy Tourch model as "Super Strong Forged Aluminum". Now casting aluminum and forgeding aluminum are two very different processes A forged riser requires much more work and time to produce. As far as these risers being the same just branded differently I don't know for sure, it's a Chinese secret, but I would not be surprised if they were all cast from the same alloy. Any differences being cosmetic and advertising hype. I dont own one but would love to own any one of them.

      Lancaster no longer list the Tourch riser as "forged" but as cast. I examined one there a while ago and it looked cast not forged. You never can be positive about things made in China.

Might be a bit more for one, but Its better than ebay or aliexpress at $150 and snail shipping.Shipping takes only takes 5-6 days through UPS. Also the seller confirmed that it is exactly the same as the galaxy tourch. I strongly reccomend them, tell 'em Cody sent ya.

    So new topic for anyone that has this riser. I am reaching out to Archery Supply in AU also. So I have been trying to work this out with the factory but they say that these stress cracks along the plastic handle screw mount is not from installation of the handle screws. I have a fine crack along both sides of the handle. I didn't mention it cause I had not chased them down to address it to me but they say it's from the mold and machining process. I'm not buying it. They also say it's on every handle. DOES anyone else see cracks on their handle? If so then I'd like to see if this is standard/common or a defect from the QC process or low standards

      l have one of these bows nearly 2 years now, the grip has what l would rather describe as marks instead of cracks, the grip feels smooth even when pasing your fingers through those and so far after thousands of shots l dont feel or hear like its breaking so unless your cracks sound when you shoot or feel when touched l would say that you shouldnt worry. on the other hand l have recieved support in the past from the manufacturer, they give you warranty when the product is defective. the thing is that l have contact directly with the manufacturer, and you have it with an intermediary.

    • @georgeASD
      @georgeASD 5 років тому +2

      in short, yes, they all have marks on the grip, at least the white grips l have seen, besides an aesthetic issue if you dont like the marks there is no problem so dont feel like is going to break on you

      Prairiedillo I’m planning to get 26lbs limbs for training & 35lbs limbs for long distance practice. Just wanted to make sure if the ilf bow could handel limbs above 32lbs.
      I’m open to any other recommendations :)
      Like a 28 lbs + 40lbs for good exposure or only one pair of high quality 30lbs limbs?
      I would be using the limbs for local archery tournament as well. Archery equipment is not readily available in my country I do have to import it, the shipping cost is equal to the limbs cost.

    • @prairiedillo
      @prairiedillo  6 років тому +2

      ILF limbs are universal. I would actually just borrow a local bow to practise and see what your current range of weight is. If you have shot for while then you should know. If you are completely new then you might even start with a more beginner setup. This is more of an intermediate bow. Also medium length limbs will drop a couple of pounds on a 23" riser going to a 25" riser so that will make them feel lighter. Also you can adjust from 1-2 pounds just by working on the tiller bolts a little. Tuning the bow is also a skill. I don't think it's smart to just buy a higher weight limb thinking that you will "train" up to it unless you really have some history and experience... guess work will result in you being over bowed quit e easily. How far up you can train and build up strength will depend on a great number of factors.

    By the way, if you make an Alibaba account you can get these bows for much less. Just ask to sample a bow. I paid $200 for my M127 and $120 for my Nika ET-1 ILF recurve, both prices including shipping. Both of them retail for 2 to 3 times that amount.

    • @caseysmith544
      @caseysmith544 2 роки тому

      Nika also has a small 17 inch not great size ILF riser with 20 pound limbs meant more for kids but is the only current production take down bow that is for both hand/eye sides that if a person got it they would want to fix the grip since it is metal only. This is the only bow I know that can be bought new as higher poundage then 35 pound and dual shot with either built in arrow shooting rests or holes for screwing in shooting rest other then the Siege flatbow style longbow made by Grayvn archery if you order the duel arrow rests in the choices for the bow.

    I finally set up my Junxing F 165, and shot a few arrows at my back yard target, getting my new krossen scorpion sight dialed in right. Its shoots amazing accurate, but, I find the riser a bit heavy, that's weird given the fact, that its made of magnesium alloy. But, I do really enjoy shooting it, worth every dollar I spent, and then some!!! I believe this bow will train me stronger, and hopefully a better archer. @georgeASD 5 років тому

      get confident with it, l have mine since almost 2 years ago and it shoots great, many people complain about magnesium being inferior quality but what the manufacturer did was clever: not only did they refined the magnesium casting process, making cheaper risers with good quality, but also made the riser thicker to increase tolerances to stress, maybe thats why you feel it kind of heavy but trust me, is a very simlple, yet sturdy bow

    • @georgeASD

      l think l can answer that Anuj, when properly built, both work the same, is more an excuse for higher prices than really improving performance. I have shot both and they work great, currently l own one of these f165 bows and they work great. B&R makes good quality magnesium casting risers, they make their risers thicker than the average riser, they make them to have very wide tolerances so the risk of having your riser break on you is actually much less than with one of those slim risers (cofcofhoytcofcof). The only practical difference is in weight, if you are on the lighter side of preference you would like magnesium, also l noticed that magnesium absorbs vibration better than aluminium... beyond that l dont see many differences.

The F179 is shorter for a hunting style and is a metal riser takedown which can be shot off the shelf even. It's a little odd to me. Better is what suits you... Junxing all but confirmed with me that they make the Theory. The current theory has the nsame clicker extension. PSE lists theirs as cast alum. Junxing says Magnesium and Galaxy lists theirs as Forged Aluminum.

      Ok I see what you mean now, the PSE theory, is different from the PSE theory FX. One has the screw in clicker, and the other a clicker plate!

      I have played around with a few sources but have recently settled on using my Can on DSLR T3i with a mic attachement. Some good phones would work also but the mic input is low. I don't feel like there's a need to show it shooting as it's much like other bows in the category. Nothing stands out in pro or con.

      Oh, that's ok, I just thought it would be cool, to see it in action, as well as some of your other bows, you featured in your other videos.

      It really shoots like any other good bow. All metal risers seem to have a ring tone to them for me but I really enjoy shooting this bow as my bare bow setup. It's fairly beefy/heavy so I prefer not to add any other attachments to it other than a sound dampener. Heavy only cause my main bow is a CF riser.
