- The Monster Energy Supercross Championship saw two new manufacturers and teams in 2024, one of which being Beta. Well, we finally got our hands on the Beta 450 RX and ventured out to Fox Raceway to spend our first day at the track with the new machine. Following a morning on track with the unique 450, we mic'd up Alex Ray and Brian Smith to hear what they had to say about the new addition to the professional circuit.
We have 50 hrs on ours and it has been great for a b level hard charging amateur. We haven’t noticed the bogs or hesitation, walks away from stock 24 Honda and kawi power wise. Tested multiple times with different riders
A-Ray was looking like a teen... must be the (quite a ) few extra pounds he has got making his face look younger. And the baggy gear.
Scrub Daddy... he was riding that bike like it was Kentucky Fried good! Yeehaw!
From the sounds of it, for the first gen bike to the public, they have a solid platform to work on. In 4 years time, I am sure the bike/review will be much better!

Prayers for Scrub Daddy. Nice, honest test. The mapping seems like problem 1. The boot connecting the throttle body and head is restricting the intake and is a quick fix for top end.
Have not looked but why are they not racing outdoors on the beta?
Probably budget. They get a greater return in SX because there are way more eyes. Paying riders for SX only gives them the most exposure for less money.
a lot of teams are SX only, primarily b/c it costs more to run MX. not sure exactly why though. you're still running across the country more for SX. maybe it's parts b/c MX is much harder on the bikes? iunno.
Yea idk. Ive always enjoyed nationals better faster bigger jumps and so on. Sx seems to be what most teams go for 1st tho @daneg
@daneg , sponsors pay more for SX because more people watch it. It's that simple. Also, driving to SX races isn't the same as driving to MX races. A lot of MX races are very rural and off the beaten path.
@@jkell411 eh. the money angle for sure. but there are 17 SX races vs. 11 MX. rural as those MX races may be, that's still A LOT more mileage to move those semis full of equipment. but the $$$ angle alone is reason enough tbh. I'll buy that.

Sadly, I think Beta tried too hard to please the "motocross crowd". All Beta had to do was throw the 430rr/re engine bored to 449cc into the 300rx chassis and they would've had a solid bike. Having ridden the new 450rx, it feels much like a 350 engine that doesn't pull up top. it's a very solid bike, and nearly there, I just believe they took the wrong path to get there.
From talking to a test rider you’re right. Feels sluggish and like a 350 on power
As a Beta 300 two stroke off road rider I’m thoroughly disappointed in Beta and their SX season. I love my Betas I’ve owned. Sad actually

Exactly, this one is not quite there yet. In the off road world they have some solid offerings.
I’ve bought 4 now and the customer service is unmatched, I’ve bought new bikes every year for 15+ years and I’m not disappointed. Needs refinement but amazing if you’re not racing pro level. We will see how it stacks up at the Baja brawl very soon!!
