- Oops: people compare this to LIDGE (L’Instant de Guerlain).
Could this be your holy grail patchouli scent? It's definitely a great reference.

I really enjoyed this review I may try to sample this in the future 😊
Thanks, Lane!
I own a recent version of Guerlain L'Instant edp (in the tall Listerine bottle) and, having heard about the supposed similarity with Tempo, got a sample from the Diptyque store. They are indeed quite similar. I really enjoyed the Tempo sample and it is on my short list, even though, if I'm being honest, it would be functionally redundant while I still have Guerlain left. Tempo is smoother, and I appreciate that it sits closer the skin, as you observed. The Guerlain can be a bit too bombastic, especially when the weather heats up.
Ahh good to know that the current version is indeed close. I will check it out when I’m at the Guerlain counter next. Thanks!
Tempo sounds so comforting! I have one fragrance with clary sage, and that is Sedbury by Parfums De Marly. It opens up with that note and I can really smell how it balances out the stronger notes in that fragrance. I agree, that it’s very interesting how perfumers use it to brighten up heavier notes.♥️
Oh I haven’t smelled that one or even heard of it! I’ll keep my eye out the next time I see a PdM display. Thanks, Marybeth!
Ahhh Tempo is lovely indeed!
Yes!
Love Tempo so much, that easily became my signature scent. For me is a herbal, woody, dark fragrance so different of everything designer perfumes put out there. Hope more people find this and fall in love like me 🥰
Absolutely, there’s no designer out there close to it.
I feel that Diptyque is such a solid house. Easily assessable but not really hyped like some of the other brands. I do enjoy Tempo from samples I've had in the past but for me Borneo keeps calling me and it's on my short short list. Thanks Henna
You’ll smell great either way.
I also love Le Delour Exquise from Les Abstraits as a patchouli.
Oh that’s a fantastic one. If I ever finish my bottle of Portrait of a Lady I’m replacing it with that. @lesabstraits @usmellsgood
I sampled this on paper this weekend. Really nice (I like it better than the OG, pre-2012 L'Instant Eau Extreme that folks compare it to).
Ahh is it LIDGE that people compare this to? Whoops.
@@CanadianBeautyBlog Either way, it's still better!
@thetrueconnoisseur glad to hear it.
I like this one but never bought it. At the time of release, it felt redundant to me. I might get it now if I see one for a lower price.
Redundant because you had other good patchouli perfumes in your collection?
@@CanadianBeautyBlog Yes...patchouli is like cheeseburger. It's hard to screw up a patchouli. I had one from Violet Parfums back then which was like a cross breed between Coromandel and Tempo. I gave it away cause I was overpatched.
@gunmetal2445 I tried all those perfumes - I found them to be referencing other perfumes but never being as good.
@@CanadianBeautyBlog Yeah, that was why it didn't make it into the cut of travelling back home in my suitcase. But it was still a good staple piece...if a bit harsh at the top (iso e super maybe). I think the person I gave it too only has less then 3 bottles so it will be loved.
@gunmetal2445 😁 that’s perfect then.
I... I just died in your arms tonight. What a beautiful set of eyes you have girl.
I just bought tempo based on comments I heard about it being similar to Orage by LV.. Let's see how it plays out
Lmk how it works out. This came first but I’d love to know if you think Orage is better.
