Finally someone puts out a video like this thank you so much man appreciate it. I know drills to do but I always do them so randomly now I can have an organized workout when I'm not using the pole/pit
@gonnabcrazi That set up is actually at ECU. But the high bar is just a metal pole between two 4 by 4s. You just have to make sure they are deep enough into the ground so they won't fall, concrete helps too. And that the bar is high enough in the air so that you can hang without touching the ground.
@lissaluvsuuu I keep them both in a pull up position. If they are opposite like in pole vault position it causes you to try and pull with your arms. Some people say to do it like vaulting, but it still wouldn't be the same anyway because a real pole is not horizontal over your head, but straight forward and moving. Pretty much u can do a longer smoother swing in pull up position.
wow, these drills are awesome!! One question, could you explain the modified bubkas and the correct way to do them, it seems especially really helpful!
Thats about the number of reps, most of this stuff is technical so your number one goal is to do them right. Some of the stuff like Bubkas and modified Bubkas are a little more strength related and may be harder for a beginner. But this is just one circuit so I usually do a circuit like this 3 times during a work out. ps. I have a lot more videos that have to do with building strength for the vault through other gymnastics skills too.
@animeattic35 The knee is up in 3 of the 4 exercises. The one it is not is a strength exercise so I believe the other three cancel out any bad habits. And Bubkas are just what I have always heard them called and everyone knows what it is. As far as the head stand thing.. I really wish I could do those in a hand stand with no wall, but I am just not quite that good. Our girls can do it in hand stand with wall but my lower back and hamstrings are not flexible enough so I just fall if i try.
Can anyone help me?! Back ground..I go to a school that does not own a pole or a pit so once a week we get to practice at a local school using their supplies..as for meets we borrow/do whatever we can to find any pole. I have been pole vaulting for 2 months (maybe) and i can clear 10'6 on a pole rated for me (140).however I have ran into a recent problem of coaches not letting me use their poles because "I bend 140s too much". should I buy a heavier pole (145-150) or longer pole and choke down
Good stuff bro! Where you from?? I really want to find a meet where we can compete against each other, over the summer! You, Me, and LHSVaulter (saleenstracer68) haha

Thanks I just started this year and these are good ideas. I was a gymnast too, for ten years :)
Finally, the kind of vid I was looking for. Good job man.

Depends on how much you're actually bending the pole. I would recommend seeing how a 150 6" taller would work out.
Our coach has us doing this :) thanks
no, just in addition.... I usually do these after a sprinting work out. Then lift like 3 times a week

did you build the whole exercise thing yourself? Cause I kinda want to set up a pull up bar (for bubkas etc) outside but have no clue how
yeah I can do the without a swing now.. not sure if i could back when i made this video or not..
so does this take the spot of weight lifting and sprinting?
What are the handstand leg lifts drills for?
