IRS is a most underrated civil service of India
IRS is better in the present times and also for the future. IRS officers have the national level exposure dealing with top industrialists, high net worth businessmen ,developing the top expertise in computer applications, investigation and finance..IRS officers are posted in the advanced developed countries also.IRS are also posted as Directors, Join Secretaries and Additional Secretaries in Govt of India . IAS has the exposure for the most part of their career at the state level and less opportunities and aptitude for leaning the new technologies, except a stereotype work.The entire service is showcased because of the position of DM/Collector which is for a short period of every IAS officer . . Now the Govt has started making lateral recruitment for Directors and the Joint secretaries as IAS does not seem able to deliver to Govt expectations . IRS officers also rise to the level of apex grade ( secretary to govt of India ) and to the top positions like Central Vigilance commissioner., Chief election commissioner, Enforcement Director , settlement commission of India and other deputations in public sector units and many more.. The IRS officers have also a great demand as tax experts after retirement and better post retirement opportunities. IAS is a service with a colonial hype, a legacy of the British which no longer serve the new administration .The introduction of new technology in government working has changed the paradigm of service. Most the officers of IAS do not even rise to the position of secretary or additional secretary to govt of India . IRS has more flexibility to work all over India and abroad and is not confined to a single state .Some cadres /states ,as some officer say in private, seals their fate to grow and they become just ‘also ran ‘.. IRS is emerging as the best service which the government is also recognizing. IRS can be the right choice for a successful and satisfying career.

its a harsh and bitter reality that IAS officers are given edge n more preference to become Revenue secretary or departments related to revenue and finance . these all departments should be handled by IRS or IAAS officers

Administrative =supervisory/monitoring
Every service is important, self contained and cannot be compared to other services. That is why different services exists. If one prefers to all India services than central civil services...then it is either ones intention to touch a few lives or they are just looking for their personal gains.
When someone changes their services from any CCS to AIS..or vis a vis.(which usually doesnot happen) then one can clearly see that these ppl are just motivated by personal gains and power...they are not up there to make any change to the society.

Should be selected between age ranges from 22 to 26 years maximum along with good promotion rate towards state CM's office (Mantralaya) as a state secretary & then promoted till Central departments.... this should be completed within 30 years without any controversial touch & finally at least 4-5 years should remain before retirement.........So selection at younger age is beneficial as a first step......

Also in other services too e.g. how can a MA in history gets selected in IRS and heads the tax department, in my real life experience Chartered Accountants say, it's easy to fool IRS, they don't have much idea.*

IRS select hone ke baad unki 1.5years ki training hoti hi vaha par une sab accounts,tax rule etc padhaya jata hey or uske baat exam hoti hai. Vo exam pass karane ke baad hi officers ko posting milati hai
I forget something that irs officer complete a training 2 year which is related taxation, and related to work of income tax and when one irs promote in senior scale than also have to complete a training
