  • Montenegro during World War Two is the focus of this episode. Montenegro WW2 history is a part of the history of Yugoslavia during World War II. In the Second World War Montenegro was first occupied by Italy and later by Germany. When Montenegrin collaborator Sekula Drljević wanted to create an Axis-aligned puppet state it led to the Montenegrin Uprising (1941). Just als elsewhere in Axis-controlled Yugoslavia there were two resistance groups: Serbian-oriented forces-the Chetniks (led by Draza Mihailovic)-and the Communist-led forces-the Partisans (led by Josef Broz Tito).

@@DesignDynasty_Channell You are not spokesman of your entire nation. The second half consider themselves Montenegrins, with their own church, language, culture, heritage, they are ashamed for the atrocities they have done while being puppets of Serbia. As for the Serbs themselves, well, I salute all great individuals - there are some great ones for sure, but on a greater scale, unfortunately, you seem to be taking part of a collective hallucination and you cannot be helped.

I beg of you to talk about the Christmas Uprising (1919) in its own video which precedes WW2 when Montenegro fought a minor independence war again Serbia. Minor war where few hundred people participated and less than 10 were killed overall. It was not an uprising against Serbia but a conflict about which dynasty would rule the new kingdom.
Some in Montenegro supported their own King and some supported Serbian King which by the way was a grandson of Montenegrin king.
So kind of unfair to portray it as war of independence.

Allegedly, the partisans were anti-fascists, at the beginning of the war they first killed 2 Yugoslav gendarmes. And we can also talk about the Christmas uprising, after the assembly in Podgorica where there were two groups Green and White movement. The greens were for unification, but as a federal with autonomy, and the whites were for unconditional unification. They were all Serbs, but with different views on unification.Italy and the exiled government financed the insurgents who were not called "Committees" because the Committees were insurgents against the occupiers of 1914-18. And these were popularly known as "одметници

Outlaws were bandits 80% in addition to rebels. Besides them, there were about 70 other people with theft and dealings. He was killed by the neighbors of Cucci who could not watch the crimes. They killed his family with him and added 3 children who never existed and burned them.Of course, the Montenegrin nation has only started to exist since the advent of communism, where people were crossed out on the census to declare that they were Serbs, but they added t And in the declaration in the kingdom, there were 95% Serbs and 5% Albanians.hat they were Montenegrins.

We were forced to join NATO, and 85% of the people are for Russia, as they have been throughout history. Montenegro had unilaterally voted to become part of Serbia in 1918. Great people's Podgorica assembly part of which was my great, great grandfather Pop Bozo Vujošević, a pre war memeber of Montenegrin Parliament.
Split between the greens and whites happened as election for the assembly were held with greens not making good enough results, their name derived from the green paper their candidate list was printed on, while the whites had as the name suggests white paper. Whites were mostly represented by pre war Montenegrin opposition to King Nikola. But there were none opposing the unification, the idea of the greens was preserving Montenegrin uniqueness in terms of it's contribution in the struggle over the centuries for freedom, and they didn't cherish some notion of being against Serbs, as well as quite a few of the organizers openly considered themselves as such.
Overall the greens were federalists, greens of the Christmas uprising were not lead by same ideas as the greens during WWII.
Partizan left errors happened before the chetnik partizan split in Montenegro which happened substantially after the same split in Serbia and other parts.

How comes unilaterally when ruling dynasty was against the transferring power to the dynasty of Karadjordjevic, followed by it's supporters and significant part of the Parliament?
Christmas uprising in the 1919 was first military rebellion against both Serbian and new Kingdom of SCS rule.
They were from the very start anti Yugoslavia oriented, as well as the Croats politicians majority.
So ever since they acted together for the separation trough various political movements.

@@serdradion4010 Ruling Montenegrin dynasty was of course against transfering power to Serbian dynasty because they wanted that power for themselves, not because they were opposed to unification.
Montenegrin King Nikola is widely known as Serbian nationalist, you could even consider him an extreme Serbian nationalist. He, as well as all of Montenegro, wanted unity with Serbia. The issues began when it was to be decided who would rule the future country.

    • @MoB_Griff
      @MoB_Griff Рік тому

@@serdradion4010 Petrovic dynasty wasn't part of the parlament, logically, when I say unilaterally I mean that the elected assembly was in favor of it, and some if the greens were also a part of it. Christmas uprising wasn't too bloody of an affair and it ended with a series of talks between the leaders of whites and the greens casualties were extremely few and fighting only happened around Cetinje, which was besieged by the greens and it lasted only one day, the remaining timeline was filled with negotiations.
The ruling dynasty by the way had signed an agreement with the Obrenovic dynasty about unification with Serbia prior to these events obviously it never came to be due to death of Mihailo Obrenovic as well as subsequent fall of the house of Obrenovic, meaning that this idea of unification wasn't really foreign.
And when you say this you are ignoring the fact that the Karadjordjevic dynasty was living in Montenegro prior to their raise to power and future Kind Alexander was born and lived in Cetinje since he was a grandson of King Nikola.
Also on the side note at the same time the Kingdom of Montenegro ceased to exist, so did the Kingdom of Sebria.
This isn't comparable to IMRO activities and uprisings.
Also Croatian issue arises far later into the live of the new Kingdom, ustasa activities were scaresly supported by wider Croatian public in the inner war period.
Either way, I speak of these events through diaries of my forefathers who were active participants in these events.

That is the point, no one wants to lose his job so just simply the other one can get it, even the other being his relative.
So with no agreement on the newly forming state management level, unifocation was ruled out by the official government of Montenegro.
For ther help, on Kings demand, came support of Royal family of Italia, with Italian Queen being King Nikola's daughter Jelena.
And Italy was an Ally of both states in the Great War,
and they acted against Italy's national interests.
Even later, Serbian Royals again opposed the Italian Royal family at the Treaty of Rapallo, between Kingdom of SCS and Italy , about the new borders and the partition of ex Austro -Hungarian territories, regarding the London agreement of 1915.
This time , due to Croats being the founders of the new Kingdom of SCS, they took the side of Croats, again against the former Great War ally Italy.
This greatly contributed to following Mussolini's taking power in the Parliament of Italy.

How large was the "Zelenaški pokret / Green" (Green movement ) tells you the fact that you can't find a single photo of that military unit, nor how their uniform looked like, not on the internet at least. I visited Historical Archive at Cetinje and I found few photos. All I can tell you that they had either civilian clothes with traditional Montenegrin cap/hat, or old Yugoslav Royal Army uniform, with wearing around the arm Montenegrin tricolor (red, blue, white) flag. The majority of that movement was based at Cetinje and the area in which they operated was Cetinje itself and villages around it. Sadly, in Yugoslav after WW2 history books and archives there are not many information nor talk about them, because in fact they weren't neither big neither strong neither important enemy to the Partisans. Also, they are the only military formation in Yugoslavia that haven't committed a single war crime throughout the whole war.

"Wherever I went, spies and hookers had to be paid in gold; only on Cetinje I got both for free"
( Quote attributed to Pirzio Biroli, military governor of Montenegro; in fact, the author was probably some Montenegrin who was not too fond of the inhabitants of the traditional capital, who consider(ed) themselves a cut above the rest of their countrymen)
On a more serious note, Montenegro was the scene of some of the most dramatic fighting in Yugoslavia, as the German XXI Mountain Corps (ca. 50,000 men) became virtually cut off from the rest of the Army Group E in late 1944. It was the only campaign on the mainland in which British Army took active part (search for "Floydforce" or "Floyd Force"). It would easily deserve a full episode.

Difference between Chetniks an Partisans was that Draza was Serb and Tito was Croat but soldiers were mostly Serbs. When enemies started to kill 100 Serbs for one German(Italian) Draza tried to save people but Tito didn't care. More civilians dead signifies more people that want to fight in his ranks. In the World war I, Tito fought against Serbs so I don't think he care much about them. Family Petrovic-Njegos were serbian royal family . You can learn about it from many documents and Petar II Petrovic Njegos writings. Montenegro always was "Serbian Sparta".

The people of Montenegro were tied to Russia in any way, so communist and royall Russia remained their only memory of Russia, the literate went to the Chetniks(white Montenegro) and Zelenasi(Green Montenegro)and a very small part of Zelenasi was with the Italians, so there was a war on 3 sides and 3 groups later becomes 4 groups,1st part Green and Fashists against White, 2nd part was fascists, green against communists and white, 3rd part Royallists (white and green) against communists and Italians which were faschists but becomes communists.
Communuist Montenegro 40% ; Chetnik Royallists white Montenegro 40% ;Green Montenegro Royallists 15%,Albanians 5% and Italian fascists (unknown).
Hint: Fashits(Italians) they were so confused, soo much weak in the fight that they daily surrendered, their entanglement between the Montenegrin warring people destroyed them so psychologically that they hid in houses and thus helped Montenegrin civilians with their livestock.
That's why they got the name KokoŠari.
Its sad story becouse united Montenegrins are a very powerful and strong nation, they managed to defend themselves against the Turks many times and inflict a great defeat on them in numerous battles, as well as against Germany in the First World War.
I don't think the Italians knew where they were going, they knew they were entering a country where there was a civil war and they thought it would be easier to fight. but the only thing that surprised them was that the green Montenegrins are the biggest spies and sycophants.
There were war crimes on all three sides, but i dont think Italians did any crime, never heard of it.
So my advice to politicians from Europe, Russia and America who want war in the Balkans is to think 3 times.
