Reminded me of the time a kidnap victim was able to wiggle her fingers out of the trunk of the car she was in. Eventually someone noticed and called Police!!!
1:50 The rock took approximately 9 seconds to hit the ground. Applying the formula s = ut+1/2at^2, since the initial velocity can be assumed to be 0, we just have to consider the acceleration. We will assume g to be 9.81, as we are unsure of the depth of the cave and its effect on this constant. Edit: I forgor the speed of sound and time needed to hear it. We assume the speed of sound is also 343 ms^-1, and thus the distance divided by the speed of sound is the time for sound to return (t_sound) The actual time for the drop is t_actual, and the time we observe (9s) is t_observe t_observe = t_actual + t_sound t_sound = 1/2g(t_actual)^2/343 9 = t_actual + 1/2g(t_actual)^2/343 Thus we get that t_actual is around 8.06 seconds Then the depth is 1/2g(t_actual)^2 which is around 319 m, or 320ish. Thanks for pointing it out
I think here we would need to also factor the speed of sound in air in order to get a more accurate depth for the cave. From the dropping of the stone (at initial velocity = 0 and constant acceleration of 9,81 m/s^2), it takes approx. 9 seconds for the sound to be heard. But as you said, an impressively deep cave nonetheless.

I figured out the card trick: the dude has a fat stack of cards that he’s holding horizontally between his pinkie and ring finger. He quickly flips them to make them look like they came from nowhere, and then he drops a couple cards from the stack to make it look like each time he dropped some was a whole stack, but in reality he kept dropping PARTS of one stack (more specifically, the couple of first cards on the stack) and he flips the rest back into his pinkie and ring finger to make it appear as if they’re all gone. Then he pulls them out again and only drops a PART of them and puts them back between his fingers.

Just a time between drop and hearing the sound would be sufficient to figure out how deep the hole is. You would need to roughly calculate the terminal velocity of the rock and the speed of sound in the hole.
@@mariejuana2993 In themselves they are not a big problem, pickpockets are usually only found in big cities like Milan or Rome and they just take your wallet or cell phone, but what worries you more is the fact that some are not really punished. There is a video online of a pickpocket woman which clearly states that she steals, has stolen and will continue to steal, but still nothing has been done to her. The problem is that the law is slow to act and they often go easy on some people, especially if they are pregnant women or with children. With this I don't want to scare you, pickpockets even if they are a problem are not as common as you might think and with a little attention these accidents can be avoided, moreover, if they tried to hurt someone they would be in serious trouble. Thanks for your interest, greetings from Italy.

My sister got her passport stolen as well as $140 when she went last time, it just happened to be her that got them stolen unfortunately. She got back okay though
Hi Daily Dose, here's the explanation you looking for: The card trick is a sleight of hand trick, he shows a portion of the deck, you see the cards, he throws that portion of the cards to the table, after that he still holds the leftover portion between his ring and middle finger, hidden behind his palm. He takes out some cards with some really nice hand movement, and repeats the process until he runs out of cards. This is why the number of the cards gets less (and never repeat) in the end also. You can see this in 0.25 speed. What is impressive beyond the illusion tho, is how fast and smooth he does this in normal speed, truly impressive. Sorry, and captain flies away
and to make the trick much more impressive, the cards he use are much thinner compared to the ones you are familiar with. so the cards can easily be folded behind the hand and easier to grab onto them with the edges of the cards. but you definitely need a lot of practice to become this smooth.. years of practice
Considering the rock at 1:42 took more or less 8 seconds to hit the ground, that pit is more than 300 meters deep. Didn't account for speed of sound coming back up, but I think that would be negligible
Guinea pigs are definitely an underratet pet. They are great. They get excited to see you and trust you with their lives. I used to have a couple and would take them out to graze on dandelions in the yard. If they got spooked, they would run to me for cover and safety.
You’d be shocked how many times those scammers that call get mad about people who mess with them. It’s like… dude, you called to try to deceive me- why are you mad?
We get the equations: s = 1/2 g t_drop^2 = v * t_sound and t_drop + t_sound = 10 seconds Which gives t_drop = 8.86 seconds and t_sound = 1.14 seconds. In either case, the drop was about 384m deep.
its about 1000 feet down, seeing how it took about 9 seconds, and 8 seconds of freefall is 1000 feet and the time for sound to travel 1000 feet is about 1 second
The magician didn't throw down all the cards in one go. He threw down just a fraction of what he had in his hand each time. He would then (amazingly well) hide the remaining cards behind his hand and pull those out of "thin air". Then he would repeat that until he was out of cards. Sleight of hand very well done.
The wig in the car was hilarious! I bet the police often get a good laugh whenever a potential dead body report turns out to be something totally silly and harmless! 😂

8.82 seconds for the rock to hit and the sound to return. Figure a good 7.25 seconds of falling. Back of the napkin math of 33 ft/sec/sec (9.8m /sec/sec) yields about 1,000 ft or 300m.
Another horrifying owl fact: they don’t have eyeballs! Just tubes that they see out of, which can’t move! That’s why they can turn their heads like that.
Thanks DDOI now I know how to embarrass thieves 😂 But on a serious note we don’t just need more people like her we also need to be like her showing those thieves what’s up and making them think twice.
In italy you quite literally can't. Those people live off pickpocketing, and yet while they are not harshly punished, it is really easy for YOU to get in jail because you retaliated against someone. Yes, even if they break into your house and yes, even if a police officer points a gun at them, both scenarios can be easily sued and fingers pointed against you.
So for anyone wondering, that rock took about 8 seconds to fall and make impact. Thus, estimating the distance of the fall to around 1,000 ft. However, since the speed of sound needs to be factored into this, that actually puts it more around 800 ft. Still a long way down.

It's been awhile too since I heard that sound effect. I had to pause, I laughed myself sick. Good thing you can mute yourself on a group call .
We assume the speed of sound is also 343 ms^-1, and thus the distance divided by the speed of sound is the time for sound to return (t_sound)
The actual time for the drop is t_actual, and the time we observe (9s) is t_observe
t_observe = t_actual + t_sound
t_sound = 1/2g(t_actual)^2/343
9 = t_actual + 1/2g(t_actual)^2/343
Thus we get that t_actual is around 8.06 seconds
Then the depth is 1/2g(t_actual)^2 which is around 319 m, or 320ish.
@@Elit0000 very good point you raise
which would leave us with approx. 319 m, considering that the time of collision t is given by t = 9s - (depth * v_sound)

Thankyou for this 😅

find the rock drop especially scary when you consider that when it hit the ground nobody knew, the sound had to travel all the way back up
Yeah, the rock hit the bottom about 0.8 to 1 second before you could hear anything.
I find it much more concerning that no one here who claimed to know how deep the hole is included this. (It’s actually around 310m/1020ft)
What about air resistance and the fact that it has to accelerate before reaching terminal velocity?
S=ut+½at²

That’s so cool!
Yeah, he's pretty smooth with it. I was impressed.
I thought it was edited because i swear i saw his hand glitch. Maybe not though
and to make the trick much more impressive, the cards he use are much thinner compared to the ones you are familiar with. so the cards can easily be folded behind the hand and easier to grab onto them with the edges of the cards.
but you definitely need a lot of practice to become this smooth.. years of practice

@@getdavemoore 490 to 500 metres deep.
500 meters if there was no air resistance so maybe 400?
We get the equations:
s = 1/2 g t_drop^2 = v * t_sound
and
t_drop + t_sound = 10 seconds
Which gives t_drop = 8.86 seconds and t_sound = 1.14 seconds.
