Didier Peroni: Formula 1 (Tyrrell, Ligier, Ferrari) 5 years. A massive accident which broke both his legs, almost amputated, beat the likes of Prost and Villeneuve, commonly considered 1982s real champion. Sportscars 5 years, racing such a monster as the Porsche 934 Turbo at LeMans 24hr which he won in ‘78 in an Renault Alpine, and being overall really fast. Powerboat 1 race, (1987) deceased. As dangerous sports go, this was number one for quite some time.
I think they don’t get much time to realise it is going wrong. And without brakes , there isn’t much they can do anyway. Slowing the engine doesn’t work quick enough.
@@AndrewEdwardBailey Hello, yes, their inshore jumped a lot before the crash if you look the video... A bad wave, a powerful boat and a too light body... 🤔⁉️💯🔥🛢️🏁🏎️🤓🇨🇵
120mph+ in a very lightweight catamaran that was out of control - the bow of the boat kept going way too high and it was only a matter of time. These catamarans run what is in effect an aircraft wing between the sponsons - giving lift, less drag in the water = more speed.

Definitely a motorsport yes. Rallycross and Group B rallye cars were passing 650bhp at some races. As you say, the 80s were big.
