13hrs seems like a breeze to me now after all the 19/20 hr layover flights I've done, I just booked a direct flight to Malaysia from Heathrow and its 13hrs direct, that's like heaven now.
Thanks for the tips! I am getting on a 16 hour flight in a couple of days and I’ve been stressing about it. Seems like the most important tip is to have fun and enjoy it! Thanks and welcome back! Next season looks awesome!
I’ve done many of 10+ hour flights to and from Seoul to lax. You just sit there eat and watch all movies and play games. When you land it’s like yay I’m back in my home country or boo my vacation back from Korea is over.
when i was younger, from the uk to australia was like an entire day. and i did once do a 13.5 hour flight, i cried 2 times, accepted my fate 7 times. and oofed 100000000000 times
Me I find her personality a bit bouncy bouncy over the top and not to be sexist I find men who go woo woo and shout awesome man embarrassing, if you want a model of behaviour look to Audrey Hepburn classy and dignified
I've experienced torture first hand. Lufthansa economy, middle seat, LAX to Paris. I needed months of therapy afterwards before I was able to talk again. Still PTSD to this day
How do you stay hydrated on a long flight? One bottle of water doesn’t seem like enough. I heard that it’s best to stay away from airplane water bcs the water tanks are gross.
As someone who owns a spine that pretty much exploded due to a legacy injury a few years ago, I've started to look more at the actual plane type when booking flights to hopefully arrive still able to walk. The Dreamliners seem to have their fair share of online detractors, however the amount of space at the back of the plane is the biggest I've seen so far & you're actually encouraged to use it for stretches mid flight. Definitely the freshest I've ever landed from a long haul & I've done a heap of those over the years (English living in Oz so everything's a long haul flight). Could be another tip for the booking stage 😀
Great video. I love window seats. When I was on a 14 1/2 hour flight from Hong Kong to Chicago, I wish I knew about those headphones. 14 1/2 hours of four crying toddlers. The parents and flight attendants did the best they could to keep the noise level down. I was so happy to arrive in Chicago and thought to myself “I’m sure glad that’s over”. Well, as I was seated on my flight from ORD to MSP, a couple with their toddler sit in the seats right behind me. Of course, right away, the crying begins. The flight is only an hour, but that taught me that headphones are an essential part of a comfortable flight.
14:27 looked like my home of Cozumel, Mexico. Where was it? Also, we have a 13+ hr flight coming up in 2.5 weeks (MAYBE) if our cruise is still a "go".
I’ve just come across this, and it’s an excellent video. So so much better than some of the sugary travelling couples on UA-cam. I’m subscribed and look forward to seeing more.
In 3 days we're flying to Helsinki, then from there to Bangkok. The whole trip is going to last about 23 hours. I guess we'll have to take a backpack full of books.
What do you do when the middle seat gets taken by an overweight, unbathed neanderthal ? With 800,000 miles on Delta Freaky Flyer I've flown once in the last 15 years. Given the option of flying we'd rather drive cross country for days than fly for 6 hours :-)
For those of you have done it as a tall individual, I'm 6'7" lol would it be worth it to upgrade to economy plus or even business? Or have you flown economy?
I'm 6'2"...definitely Economy Plus at minimum. Premium Economy if you can swing it; Look for the last row of Economy Plus and try to score an empty middle or poor man's business class (the whole row) -- its happened to me before
I like duffel bag for long haul flights. My current favorite travel bag is Nomad Lane Bento bag. I love it because it has a lot of compartments, a trolley sleeve and it is small enough to fit under the seat. It is so easy to get all the things I need. You'll love it too!
I’m always doing yoga in the waiting area at airports - I’m sure I look goofy, but it helps! Nice to get that spare center seat - we have done that as well.
How cute video! Love to watch these kind of videos when im about to go on a trip. Im going to norway in some weeks to reunite with my boyfriend and have a long flight from Sao Paulo to London. You re just pretty! 😍🤗❤️
Omg!! You can get gf food?! I am celiac and I might go to Hawaii for Christmas with my family and I was worried that I would have to bring so many snacks because it’s a 15 hour flight!
Next year I’m travelling to Orlando from London, it’s a 12 hour flight and I’m terrified. At that point I would have only been on a flight from Glasgow to London (45 mins) and Glasgow to Paris (over an hour). So I have no idea how I’m going to cope🥺🤍
I have a 10 hour flight to ecuador in 2 weeks Im hoping that i can bring my cross stitch project and lots of snacks lol since I can’t sleep sitting up My first long haul flight ever was a disaster I was so unprepared
When I got your video today I was a little worried about you being that close to China with the virus outbreak thank you for letting me know it's been some months ago
Some airlines have a bidding feature for upgrades so sometimes you can score a sweet deal for business class / premium economy. Having the ability to lay flat and sleep on a 16 hour flight (for me when I fly direct Toronto - Manila) and land in Manila feeling refreshed and not in pain is a game changer...just like you mentioned about relaxing and eating in a lounge before you fly.
@@timandfin Korean Airlines does not have a bidding feature but Air Canada which flys Toronto - Seoul allows you to bid one level up. For example you can bid from economy to premium economy but not to business class. You would need to upgrade to business class from a premium economy. With Philippine Airlines, I buy the economy ticket and bid for business class but you can also have a secondary bid to premium economy. You can low ball the business class just in case you do win and if you don't, you may win the premium economy bid. Have fun with your research! I did my research after flying Toronto - Taipei via EVA airlines and I had this thing (wasn't sure what it was) underneath the seat in front of me so for 14 hours, I was stuck with my legs folded as I wasn't able to stretch out. Never again :-)
Good hacks, though I prefer the following since you are already using airline points for "free" flights and lounge access... just pay for the coach flights and use point to upgrade one class. Flying pointy end (business or first) on long haul, you get the premium lounges with food, drinks, showers, sometimes spas... when flying, you have all the space in the world, couples can usually opt for some sort of "honeymoon seat" or double bed, non-US carriers will have dine-on-demand in at least first, sometimes business... lastly being able to lie-flat to sleep is a game-changer and basically impossible to go back for +8hrs or overnight flights....
I have a 13 hour and 40 minute direct flight from Quito, Ecuador to Amsterdam, Netherlands for a year abroad program in about 3 weeks. Not looking forward to that at all.
Ah, can't wait to see what you get up to in Mexico! We're currently down in the Yucatan in Mexico for the next 6 weeks. Hopefully we pick up some awesome tips from you guys while we're still here. Is Las Coloradas worth it? It's a bit far away, but it just looks so incredible!
Ooo! Ok - definitely don’t head all the way up there if that’s just the one thing to do... but if you have time the mangrove tours... Valladolid cenotes, etc. Las coloradas is a quick quick tour walking around the lake with a guide
@@timandfin Ok good to know! We're down in Playa del Carmen, so maybe we wait to head that way when we come back to do Merida. Las Coloradas looks cool, but might be hit or miss with the level of the water/ sun which determines how pink it is. And now maybe you can't fly a drone? We won't head out of our way. Thanks!
I do 14hrs from LA to Brazil alone with two kids, but they dont have straight flights and i dont know why... so i take one day to get to my destination, more than 24hrs with almost 10hrs in the last flight, omg its soooo overwhelming!!!!!!!
I’m leaving back to America in a couple weeks and I am horrifically scared for my ears 😭 when I left america the flight was THE worst and my ears hurted for a month 💀
I take 13 hour flights all the time. It's really not a big deal. Beats the hell out of swimming. Not to mention that I almost always fly economy. I am surprised that this is an issue. We should all be privileged to hang out in lounges before the tough job of sitting in a seat. I am usually focused on where I am going.
I still remember my last experience in economy like 15 yrs ago! Stuffed in like sardines, knees in your nose (& I'm really short) & my cousin washed my jeans in a detergent that my skin was reacting to😵. Window seat with 2 big guys between me and the isle...I could FEEL their energy😲 - "Don't you DARE ask to get out"😫. If I can't afford to go 1st class or business class ~ I DON'T go.
I agree, I did two direct flights to Turkey from the US (round trip) in Economy, I'll never fly international again unless I have business or first class for those very reasons you listed.
I am feeling the same way, we are planning to go Paris from Australia. It’s like 8hrs plus stop over and then 14hrs. I am imagining now how hard it is to be in economy. I will consider booking business altho it’s very pricey for a family of 3
