I appreciate this video so much. My husband and I are do-it-yourself people, and this helps so much with my Janome 6500. My thread cutter won't work, so now we know more about it and hopefully can see what's wrong with it. Thanks so much.

2 years after making it, your video is still gold! I have 2, memory craft 5600, janomes. I maintenence one while my DW wares out the other. Just reviewed your video again today. Thank you!

Thanks for the service pointers. I would like to see the removal of the covers. I seem to take more time with the plastic machines getting the covers off then the time it takes to clean and lube the machine.

Awesome video, I have this exact machine and my lightbulb just went out today. I was really hoping you would have shown how to change that out. But still, this was great. Thanks for recording this process.

Brilliant video... Very helpful and informative. I recently purchased a Janome MC6600P used for a very good price, cleaned the machine and made sure the oil wicks were lubricated. It's really surprising what lint can do (i.e. cause skip stitches etc.) Under the bobbin case.
Adjusted timing and needle bar height and now sews beautifully, the only thing is the labels have worn off some of the buttons (scissors, needle up/down and lockstitch) but I know what buttons are for what so might sort out at later date.
Janome UK told me they will only sell replacement board to authorised dealer/repair but I'm currently doing a sewing machine repair course, maybe in the future they'll be ok with it ha ha.

      Thank you!
Janome makes very good machines, one of the best on the market.
Check out sewing parts online they may have the board you need.

Not sure if you noticed but when you were greasing the thread cutting cam (cam1) part number 846105002 has a crack in it. Just wondering if you replaced it.

I just bought one from my new machine repair guy for a great price; he had gone over it, tuned it up, checked it twice, but in familiarizing myself with this machine (I used to have the 7700) I find that when I use my trilobal polyester thread (Isacord or Glide) in this 6500, it won't pull the bobbin thread up-when the needle goes down into the bobbin area, the top thread gets stuck, catches on the left upper side of the bobbin case somehow, as if there is a burr or something, and shreds in there, causing an error message. If I switch to cotton thread, it seems to like that okay. I free motion quilted on my Janome 7700 with Isacord and Glide threads all the time with no issues. Can a machine hate a certain fiber thread?

Thank you so much for this video. I do have a question about the tension on my machine. I always seem to need to move it up to 7 and I’ve never had this much trouble with it. What do you think I might need to do besides clean it. (I’ve done that but no improvement)

How do I fix the cutter on my janome memory craft 6500p? It wants to jump to the right even when my needle is far left . I FEEL the kickback on the left, feels like it will break through the side wall of the machine! Second question, how do I fix the bobbin holder from jumping up and over in the machine? This causes problems and my needle hitting the plastic bobbin holder. Thanks.

Hi. Just watched your video and wished I had seen it sooner. You know the section on automatic read cutter and pointed to the screw with three parts and said to video or photo how went back together. Welp..I didn’t. I have a mc550e and wondering if you have any idea in what order they go back in. Thought I had it but as soon as I tighten screw it wont move.

Hello Richard: I purchased a MC6500P from an older lady who never even took it out of the box. It did not come with a foot control, rather came with the applicable Grace speed control. (For long arm quilting on a domestic machine). All settings on the speed controller (dip switches) are correct, and definitely the correct model. - problem: there is only one speed.......SLOW. The stitches are nice, but i cannot do anything with the speed. Should I pull this apart and lubricate because it sat unused in an attic for several years? Or is there something else I should be looking for. (Yes, I know abut the speed bar on the machine itself....does not make any difference). Thanks. Lesley

Hi Richard - boy, did this video save me! I was getting skipped stitches as well as a squeaking sound from my machine. I followed your video step-by-step, got it back together, and I don't think I've ever had such gorgeous stitches and a quiet machine! Many, many thanks for your clear, precise, real guidance!

I have a Memory Craft 6650.The auto cutter won't cut the thread and will not return to its original position. There is no lint around it or thread. Would you say the auto cutter needs to be replaced?

    Hi Richard,
I'm Ruben from Holland. We have a Janome mc8000 with this stepping motor error. I reconnected the mainboard and cleaned most parts. It doesn't help but don't want to believe the mainboard or stepping motor is broke. If I interupt the sensor in top (with rotating black plastic turning through it ) it also gives this error. Could you please help me out? Would be great!
greets from Holland and thanks Ruben

Which motor is it you have been interrupting the sensor on?

Please help me decide between Brother gs2700 and Usha jenome wonder stitch plus. I am OK with a little fewer inbuilt stitches but want to invest in a more reliable machine. Please look up for usha jenome as you may not already be knowing of it. Please look online and advise. I'll be going by your suggestion. Please pick one model of above two. I have come this far shortlisted but not able to select one. Only one specific model out of these two. Thank you.

Sounds like the wire that connects from the bobbin winder to the main board may be loose or not properly connected on one end or the other.
Check both ends of the bobbin winder motor wire to ensure it is properly connected.
It is a short wire so be careful not to pull on it as you put the top back on.

Sounds like that machine is working very hard to stitch through heavy fabrics. I'll stick with my old vintage Kenmore and Singer 201-2.

    • @sewingmachinetipsandtricks9079

Nothing made today can match the old vintage machines, and will not last as long as they have already.
I love the old singer and Kenmore machines.
I have a couple vintage machine videos coming soon.

@@sewingmachinetipsandtricks9079 I must say that this machine did do a nice job with buttonholes. But I'll still take a vintage machine with either a Greist or Singer Professional buttonholer.

Janome makes one of the better machines today, makes a great stitch and can do impressive work. Between the electronics and plastic if they last 20 years they are doing well, but they will not last 50 years or more and as you pointed out they are lacking in power when it comes to heavier fabrics.
I make these videos to help people who have these machines but I prefer the vintage sewing machines.

Why not install a new part? All that work to not replace a plastic part...? She should hve a back up machine and keep this great machine in tip top shape. No judging, Just saying- just saying! Good eagle eye on finging that straight pin.

I presume you mean the presser foot lifter.
The main reason was to show how to do a repair on the channel for people who need to repair rather than replace.
In actuality if I am not doing a video it is very easy for me to replace it and takes less than 5 minute.
But the repair is still holding

That stitching looks kind of puckered. Maybe the tension is off

    • @AW-pz3qc
      @AW-pz3qc 3 місяці тому +1

The foot pressure was too high...see the tracks on the denim caused by the feed dog? My 6500 only ever needed the pressure at 1.5 max..that one was at 3. Plus he tested with denim fabric whereas the owner (from what he said) was sewing cotton fabric.
