I feel bad for Ralph Bakshi, the producers really screwed him over on this one...
It was his final film before retiring

Actually, if the Blu-ray reviews are anything to go by, the studio ended up wanting a change of direction, and a later regime change caused the movie to get buried under the rug.

There were a series of prequal comics that fleshed out the story along with a tie in comic adaptation that gave a slighty better ending, not to mention the videogame😅 great review

Fun fact: the animated characters in this movie would be voiced by loads of popular voice actors some of which got their voice acting debut because of cool world including Charlie Adler, Maurice Lemaurche, Candi Milo, Gregory Snegoff and Joey Camen

I adore the idea and concept behind Ralph Bakshi's "Cool World". The world it's set in is as captivating as it is surreal. It's just a shame we never got to see the unspoiled version of the story due to corporate meddling. 😤
11:44 As much as I love the concept of "Cool World", the world-building itself could definitely use some polish. How funny is it that an obscure point-and-click adventure game like "Toonstruck" had better world-building than a major studio production with a $28 million budget? 😒
13:03 I think he was supposed to be more significant in Bakshi's original screenplay.

It's nice to see a review of Cool World that doesn't dunk on the movie all the time and brings up some positive stuff like how Cool World looks...
It's definitely one of the Paramount Pictures of all time.

This is definitely NOT Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Out of all the Live Action/Animated hybrid films, this was fascinating, but misses the mark. Basically, when you see a lot of toons on screen being so erratic, it leaves you wishing this came with an Epilepsy Warning.

8:36 Ah yes. The VA of Shantotto in the Disidia Final Fantasy games (If she also voiced said character in FF11. Feel free to let me know) 18:35 I swear Frank's toon form looks like an adult version of DC's Billy Batson (Update. Specifically. His design from the Batman Brave & The Bold cartoon) Well. At the end of the day. This is something that once again makes me wonder what could've been if Warner Bros let Rover Dangerfield have a PG-13 rating.

Finally we finally get to talk more about the Baskshi guy! I like Ralph Bakshi. His movie is just okay. The animation is good but the story is meh. And I was shocked that Maurice LaMarche (known for the Brain from Animaniacs) was in this movie.

Still, even the diluted version could have worked better if they had developed the characters better. Detective Harris's backstory could have been established through a chat with Jack Deebs at one of Cool World's bars. The opening could have instead established Deebs creating Holli Would and Cool World as if he were possessed by something, and they could have made him such a willing patsy because Holli was all too willing to take advantage of the fact that he had been betrayed by a lover before. Not to mention establishing basic rules and plot points early on.

In his article _My Meeting with Bakshi, or, Goodbye Cool World,_ Steve Moore, a man who worked on Rover Dangerfield, confirmed that Ralph Bakshi tried to convince him to work on CW. At that point, "William" (Willem) Dafoe had been tapped to play Jack Deebs. After seeing how CW ended up, as well as the trailer for The Last Days of Coney Island, Steve has absolutely no regrets about denying Bakshi's request. He described Bakshi's pitched as "like listening to Garrison Keillor read a soft porn script," so CW was presumably still in the R-rated stage at that point. He went onto say, "I have a lot of industry friends who went on to work on Cool World, and their horror stories confirmed my instincts to be correct. People were fired and rehired on a daily basis. Ralph seemed to relish working in chaos."
Also, if the Blu-ray reviews are anything to go by, what happened is that the studio got cold feet on Bakshi's original vision and a regime change caused the movie to get swept under the rug. He should have pitched and sold it to New Line Cinema.

So why are humans called ‘noid’ like HUMANOID😅 not sure about the naming here😶 considering what humanoid means this naming scheme doesn’t make sense 🤷‍♀️
Note: if you don’t understand the difference between toon and Humanoid please don’t talk to me. The naming of toon in cartoon and noid referring to humans is not the same thing. The former is logical and the latter is stupid because humans are NOT HUMANOID🤦‍♀️
