While I love bands like Oxymoron and The Virus, I would never have even known of their existence had I never started with bands like The Offspring and Bad Religeon. Nowadays, I really don't listen to the Offspring anymore,i but because iI'm listening to Ceap Sex and Agnostic Front, I am a fan of theirs.

Nah, he's just climbing on a different branch of modern punk. Closer to the melodic feel of Duane Peters, especially in the US Bombs and Bad Religion and Social D. Kinda less street (like oh...Time Again say) and more hardcore melodic. It's still punk.
