The word salaat is an abstract noun, not a proper noun. Look that up and we can continue the convo by email at cosmicquran1@gmail.com. I will provide a more detailed review at that time.

Asslamu alaikum Brother Bilal, referring to the 1:30:00 time mark, is Dua not different from Salah? If I'm not mistaken, dua can be done at any time but Salah cannot be. Allah states in Surah Nisa (Verse 103) states, according to the translation, "When you have finished the Prayer, remember Allah -standing, and sitting, and reclining. And when you become secure, perform the regular Prayer. The Prayer is enjoined upon the believers at stated times." What do you make of this Ayah? Is Salat not restricted to set times?

Also, Instructor Bilal, you misspeak here. One is not to establish voluntary nafl prayer (nafl salah), different from the Obligatory Prayers, during specific times. This prohibition doesn't apply to making dua or praising Allah in other ways( dhikr, seeking knowledge, charity, Quran recitation, dua, etc..). Hence Allah is indeed always near and available. I don't know where you heard otherwise?

@@Loveofasufi I don't mean to sound rude, but it's literally commanded in the Quran, dear sister. Allah describes the believers by their establishment of prayer (Salah) as being one of their first, if not the first characteristic. Furthermore, countless Hadith, and even the prophet's SAW last sermon talk about the importance of prayer.

He said: "I sat with Abu Hurairah and said: 'Indeed I asked Allah to provide me with a righteous gathering. So narrate a hadith to me which you heard from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) so that perhaps Allah would cause me to benefit from it.' He said: 'I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say: "Indeed the first deed by which a servant will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection is his Salat. If it is complete, he is successful and saved, but if it is defective, he has failed and lost. So if something is deficient in his obligatory (prayers) then the Lord, Mighty and Sublime says: 'Look! Are there any voluntary (prayers) for my worshipper?' So with them, what was deficient in his obligatory (prayers) will be completed. Then the rest of his deeds will be treated like that."
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA) Rasulullah (SAW) said: Five prayers and from one Friday prayer to (the next) Friday prayer is an expiation (of the sins committed in between their intervals) if major sins are not committed. (Sahih Muslim Book 2, Number 0448)
Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, “If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day would you notice any dirt on him?” They said, “Not a trace of dirt would be left.” The Prophet added, “That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah blots out (annuls) evil deeds.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari Volume 1, Book 10, Hadith # 506)
Narrated Uthman ibn Affan (RAA) Rasulullah (SAW) at the time of our returning from our prayer told us (certain things about purification).
He said: I do not know whether I should tell you a thing or keep quiet. We said: Rasulullah, tell us if it is good and if it is otherwise, Allah and Messenger (SAW) know better. Upon this, he said: A Muslim who purifies (himself) and completes purification as enjoined upon him by Allah and then offers the prayers, that will be expiation (of his sins he committed) between these (prayers). (Sahih Muslim Book 2, Hadith # 0444)
Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah (RAA) Rasulullah (SAW) said: The similitude of five prayers is like an overflowing river passing by the gate of one of you in which he washes five times daily. Hasan said: No filthiness can remain on him. (Sahih Muslim Book 4, Hadith # 1411)

AN EXPLANATION OF THE CROSS AND THE CRESCENT
The Muslim world has come to be identified with the symbol of the crescent and the star, but when you read the Holy Qur’an you do not find any crescent and star in there.
Islam is a simple religion; that is, it is not a religion that is covered up with symbolism or ritualism. It is a religion that comes straight forward and straight out in the open with what it is all about. What brought on the Islamic flags with the emblem of the star and the crescent was the Christian crusades that came against Islam.
The leaders of the Christian army carried the cross, so the Muslims, reacting to that, raised the crescent. The crescent was a better symbol because the cross represents death. So, here was an army representing a nation or society of people that held sacred an emblem of death, and they could not see the ugliness of what they were doing. All they knew was that it was Jesus that they identified with. When you really think about it, the lifting of the cross as something sacred really is a disgrace to the beautiful world that Jesus brought into existence.
The emblem itself brings to mind death and misery - it does not bring to mind life. You have to interpret "Jesus" to arrive at life as a meaning for the cross. You have to connect Jesus, his purpose, his sacrifice, and his teaching with the emblem-but how many of us will see the cross and do all of that interpreting? When we see it, we see something that is on graveyards. We think of the suffering and the misery that Jesus had to bear. To us, it is an emblem of death and shame and suffering. So, the star and the crescent is a better emblem to us than the cross.
What the Muslims were saying to the Christians is this: "You lift up death and you see death as glory, but G_d has pointed out in His scripture that His glory is readily seen - not in the grave, but in the heavens." Read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. G_d never points to the graveyard to show us His glory. He says that we should look at the heavens and how they are lifted up in glory-the sun, the moon, and the stars. Muslims were saying to the Christians that the sign of G_d’s glory is not death, but life, and that the sun is the source of life in this physical world and the moon is a necessity. The stars are very useful to man because they direct his path at sea and through the land.
So, the Muslims raised a much better sign, but they did not raise the sign upon orders from Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). They raised it as an answer to the cross that was raised in war against them. What should -we really exalt? What should we really raise? It is knowledge!
We know that emblems cannot save humanity and pictures and signs cannot save humanity. Men can look at the stars and the moon in the sky all their life, for generation after generation, until the land grows old and dead. That does not mean that they are going to be lifted up as a society. The savage, primitive man and woman see the sun, moon, and stars but what has made the difference? Knowledge.
The book of knowledge for the Muslims is the Holy Qur’an. If we exalt anything other than knowledge, we exalt the wrong thing. You may ask, "What about G_d ?" G_d is not something that we know in any sense other than in a body of knowledge. We do not know G_d in flesh and we do not know G_d in symbols. We know G_d in knowledge. You may say, "I feel G_d in my flesh and that is how I know G_d." That is only the beginning of knowledge. Feelings are the beginning of knowledge, but you cannot say that you "know" until you grow up a little bit taller than feelings.

This Bilal guy obviously reinvents a new twisted meaning to Salaat through this completely new thing he calls Nunatics..for 1400 yrs the Companions and Muslim scholars, real giant scholars who were masters in every aspect of the Quran , they were not like some UA-cam celebrity scholars of today, understood and performed Salaat the way it is performed and there has never been any disagreement on it till today but now this guy pops up with his new and strange way completely changes the meaning of Salaat??? Is this guy really telling people that Salaat was not performed this way by the Prophet of Allah and all his companions?? I am a student of political science, history and civilization and have dived really deep into the rabbit hole of secret societies and the world of Occult, and I know they have corrupted lots of things in human history but to say these Conspirators have corrupted everything down to Salaat is absolutely false. And if we were to accept your self-contradictory theory of rejecting all the Hadith completely, then the same people who transmitted the Hadith also transmitted the Noble Quran, the question is then why accept the Quran if it came through the same companions and scholars??? If they corrupted the Hadith and all the history then how can you prove the Quran to be authentic?????. And Mr.Bilal Allah commands us in the Quran to pay respect and show reverence to His Prophet by saying صلي الله عليه وسلم when we say his name.

This is my fear as well. I wish to caution viewers, but need to do more research before making any definitive statements.
I fear Instructor Bilal may be possibly severely misguiding his viewers through his reinterpretation of the Quran and in opposing major scholarly consensus, his rejection of Hadith, and the practices of the Prophet SAW and his companions RA. Please be weary of his teachings, dear viewers.
Praying 5 times at set times has been established by Allah SWT, through Prophet Muhammed SAW during al Isra Wal Mihraj (The night journey). Allah SWT has created the Sun, and its motion, for various purposes, one of which is for us to tell the time of day and the times of prayer. Allah himself uses the Sun position to talk about prayer times. Using the sun to know when to pray is not the same as worshipping the sun, because we pray to Allah alone, by following his command and the teaching of his Prophet SAW, as he (Allah) also commanded us to.
For example, the ayahs below show Allah talking and commanding prayer at times based on the placement of the Sun in the Sky (I.e Time of Day)
Quran Evidence: I provided the Ayahs with multiple translations as well. The overall message seems to be in line with one another.
      Surah Isra: 17:78: Allah Says:
Observe the prayer from the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night and the dawn prayer, for certainly the dawn prayer is witnessed ˹by angels˺.1
      - Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Establish the prayer at the decline of the sun until the dusk of the night, as well as the recitation at dawn; indeed, Recitation at dawn has always been witnessed.
      - Fadel Soliman, Bridges’ translation
Establish the prayer by performing it most completely in its times, which are the declining of the sun from the middle of the sky - and this includes the zuhr and ‘asr prayers - until the darkness of night - and this includes the maghrib and ‘isha prayers. And establish the fajr prayer and lengthen the recitation therein, as the fajr prayer is attended by the angels of night and the angels of day.
      - Abridged Explanation of the Quran
Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night1 and [also] the Qur’ān [i.e., recitation] of dawn.2 Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed.
      - Saheeh International
Establish salah between the decline of the sun and the darkness of the night, and the recital at dawn. Surely, the recital at dawn is well attended.
      - Maarif-ul-Quran
(O Prophet,) establish Salāh between the decline of the sun and the darkness of the night, and (establish) the recital at dawn. Surely, the recital at dawn is well attended.
      - Mufti Taqi Usmani
Keep up the prayer at the sinking of the sun to the dusk of the night and (the reading) of the Qur'an at dawn; surely the reading of the Qur'an at dawn has been witnessed.
      - Dr. Ghali
So perform the regular prayers in the period from the time the sun is past its zenith till the darkness of the night, and [recite] the Quran at dawn- dawn recitation is always witnessed--
      - Abdul Haleem
Establish Prayer1 from the declining of the sun2 to the darkness of the night;3 and hold fast to the recitation of the Qur'an at dawn,4 for the recitation of the Qur'an at dawn is witnessed.5
      - Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi
Aqimi assalatalidulooki ashshamsi ila ghasaqi allayli waqur-anaalfajri inna qur-ana alfajri kana mashhooda
      - Transliteration
Establish worship at the going down of the sun until the dark of night, and (the recital of) the Qur'an at dawn. Lo! (the recital of) the Qur'an at dawn is ever witnessed.
      - English Translation (Pickthall)
Establish regular prayers - at the sun's decline till the darkness of the night, and the morning prayer and reading: for the prayer and reading in the morning carry their testimony.
      - English Translation (Yusuf Ali)
Establish prayer at the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night, and the recitation of dawn [prayer], for the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed [by the angles].
      - Ruwwad Center
Perform As-Salât (Iqamât-as-Salât)1 from mid-day till the darkness of the night (i.e. the Zuhr, ‘Asr, Maghrib and ‘Ishâ’ prayers), and recite the Qur’ân in the early dawn (i.e. the morning prayer). Verily, the recitation of the Qur’ân in the early dawn is ever witnessed (attended by the angels in charge of mankind of the day and the night)2.
      - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali & Muhammad Muhsin Khan
Say your prayers from the decline of the sun, until nightfall; and at dawn-the recitation at dawn is indeed witnessed.

So be patient, O Messenger, on the false things those who disbelieve in you say about you. Glorify and praise your Lord in the Fajr prayer before sunrise; in the Asr prayer before sunset; in the hours of night in the Maghrib and Isha prayers; and in the Zuhr prayer just after the zenith, which is the end of the first part of the day and the beginning of the second part; in the hope of attaining reward with Allah which you will be pleased with.

so [Prophet] be patient with what they say- celebrate the praise of your Lord, before the rising and setting of the sun, celebrate His praise during the night, and at the beginning and end of the day, so that you may find contentment-
      - Abdul Haleem
So bear patiently with what they say. Glorify your Lord, praising Him before sunrise and before sunset, and in the watches of the night,1 and glorify Him and at the ends of the day that you may attain to happiness.2

      - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali & Muhammad Muhsin Khan
So be patient with anything they may say and glorify your Lord with His praise before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and glorify Him in the hours of the night and at the beginning and end of the day, so that you may find comfort.
      - Maulana Wahiduddin Khan
At the very least, these verses show Salah in connection with the sun's position in the sky (at certain times).
To reject the prophet's teachings is likened to rejecting the message (Quran) and disobeying Allah SWT. Allah has commanded us to follow and obey the Prophet SAW. I will quote some ayahs from the Quran.
      Allah SWT, states :
O you who have believed, obey Allāh and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allāh and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allāh and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result (Surah Nisa, Verse 59)
      Furthermore, Allah also states,
Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “If you ˹sincerely˺ love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive your sins. For Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Surah Imran, Verse 31)
How would someone possibly reject the prophet's teachings, be it Hadith or Sunnah as a whole? Disobeying the Prophet is in other words disobeying Allah swt, and his command. Lastly, how can one not follow the sunnah or try to learn how the prophet did things through Hadith, when Allah states, "Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah often." (Surah Ahzab, Verse 21).
May allah swt guide us all, and protect us from misguidance, falsehood, and all evils. ameen
