Has anyone purchased the composting tumbler? It looks good, how do you remove the ready compost? Surely not through the small opening where you place the scraps ?
@@mitzimarquez2410 some of the better ones have a removable end cap.... So you just tip it and pour it out.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms thank you. I'll go back and read thru the stats of this product. See what is listed. I didn't see any information with the first read
Garden quickies are quickly becoming my thing!
Ha ha good to hear Tristan!
Best garden video I have watched. Straight to the point and very educational.
❤ Hey Jeff they say you're never to old to learn something new, and I'm all for going as natural and cheap as possible, garden beds are starting to thaw in Western New York and weeds are starting to make their appearance, see you next time.
I'd be scared I'd hear something tapping on the weed bucket and a whisper of "Seeeeymoour feeed meeee" 😂 Great quickie friend Happy gardening! 🙏💪
Growing up dad (a.k.a. me) would cut the weeds down as a form of chop-and-drop believing with the longer tap roots he was pulling up nutrients that the veggies were not reaching. Nice video.
Thanks Jeff I'm going to be trying more compost tea and extracts this year. Sure could brew some weed tea! Alfalfa meal haven't tried much other than rabbit pellets that fell then picked up with the manure for the garden in many ways. 2024 Year of The Garden. Hoping for a great year!
Yess! Another short but sweet and very informative garden quicky! 👏💪😎💓 I like to help revive my soil with some handfuls of red wiggler castings🪱 Dude, I got my first pepper seed sprouting outside a couple days ago, 🤩🤓🫑🌱 was super stoked, letting my garden speak to me, the time is very close, or already here 🤷♀️ taking notes🧐 Thanks again Jeffe, appreciate your helpful tips 💋💓🌱🐞
Outside already mamabear?! What are your night time temps nowadays?
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms the transition is happening, it's been upper 40's to lower 50's 👏🌱 I'm in 10A on the central coast of California, the days have been mild and slightly warm. I have a little micro climate that gets full sun and the wall that it's against is warm🥰 and so I planted the seeds as about a month and a half ago, to see what happens... 🤩I was very surprised, and the writing on my tags wore off. It's a pepper plant I'm not sure which one though 🤷♀️🫑🌱 taking notes😘
As always, great insight into the soil. The generator of life!
Thanks Jeff for this video! Gonna do some early season weeding today, and I will start a bucket of liquid fertilizer with it :-)
Nice! Your garden will thank you, 🙂
Hi Jeff!!!! Im a new subscriber, and I just wanted to tell you that I love your videos bc they are short and packed with a lot of information on the subject. Thank you for your time giving us great gardening tips. Im on year 4 with my garden, and Im still learning. I live in Maryland and was curious where you live? Happy Gardening!!
Thanks a lot , appreciate so much your videos that aren’t so long but you take it calmly without ruching like so many today. So good contents.😊
Hi Jeff! Happy gardening! Great info as always! Nettles are a great efficient way to make a natural liquid fertilizer like that! Love it!
Nettles are top notch vicky, I agree!
Always good info? Jeff!
Hi Jeff very excited for spring and summer and thanks another garden quickie and short and full of ideas 😊👩🌾♥️ have a nice spring ahead 🌸🌺take care as always
Sooooooo ready for spring Emy! 🙂
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms sooooooo much anticipation and excitement 🥰
Boy oh boy! The ideas you put in gardeners minds! I guess the money you saved us can go to buying more seed. Rock on
❤ this video!!!! Thank you!!!!
I've been creating jars full of shrimp tails, onion scraps, pepper scraps, etc....to create pest repellent sprays for the summer.
Thx for the tips on enriching the soil after winter and....LIVE your compost bin!❤ HSTL Zone6
Great to see the weed fertilizer recipie. I saw this in Jadam/Korean Natural Farming practices and started a batch last year plus have plenty of weeds to mix up this year too...
Thanks...there is a field nearby with lots of dandelion leaves..in spring...Will wait unti afterl flowers bloom..for the bees
Excellent info as always. Now I need to source out finding some of these products for the start of the season.
Thanks Sandy, enjoy the week!
Emptied most of my compost from the last 12 months, and getting another round started.
I prefer aerobic additives, so shortly (Friday here, finally above freezing overnight) I will crank up the worm compost tea making again.
I experimented wit 10 parts coco coir, 1 part worm compost mix for seed starts, much better results than before. Bonus, that will be used as mulch for the pots once I can finally plant them.
Lower mainland weather has been screwy, warmish January, frozen last 4 weeks. Snow 🌨️.
Oh well, summer is supposed to be extra hot (hmm 🤔) so it's extremes this year.
Smart! Love the 1 year turnaround!
THANKS FOR THIS INFORMATION
Cheers James, thanks for watching!
Thanks!
Woooaaaaa Emy, you're too kind!
Very welcome 🤗
Who knew weeds could be so useful! LoL 😂😅. I will be looking at them through different eyes thanks to this video. Love watching 🤩
Right? Just a huge untapped resource sitting there!
Thank you Jeff, enjoyed the visit.
I hope you have a fabulous harvest.
manure, molasses, kelp, bacteria/fungis in a bucket of water for 2 days.
@@cirsiumc dr earth has probiotics included.
@@CmdrSoCal ah. i see. thanks for responding. happy growing!
Thanks
God bless you!
Cheers John!
The weed tea amazed me! Never knew I could do that, but I definitely will now. I have plenty of weeds 😂
Thanks Jeff!
Cheers Yukon!
Can I add weeds and leftover weed waste from 'weed tea' to my compost pile?
Yes, 100% you can!
I use pant derived minerals humic and amino acids. There is no guarantee that rock dust contains all 75 minerals. Do plants need all 75? No but we do. Jeff do you have some mail order garden centers in BC you can recommend? I have a few in mind but I would like some recommendations that do not come up on search.
Love that Robert, you're so right. I am lucky in Victoria that I haven't had to order much from the mail. Lots of wholesale places on Keating for big ticket items and smaller stuff can be had from Borden Mercantile and Buckerfields. For seeds before I started saving my own, I used Stokes and Seed-Bank.ca
Hi Jeff, I didnt realise I can make a fertiliser out of weeds. How long can you store it for? How much do you put in a watering can & us it good gor all plants. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
interesting question 💖👀
curious as well now 😸
how bad does that weed tea smell?
It can get pretty bad on first straining.... After that, for storage, it's not nearly so terrible
How come you say 2 minutes or less and I ain’t seen one yet less than 2 minutes. Like your stuff anyway.🙂
Ha ha yup, one day I will get one that's 2 minutes....mark my words!
you doing fine Jeff, like your videos.@@TheRipeTomatoFarms
Greetings,
Side question:
Would you use baking soda in your compost? If so, how much?
Cheers,
Upstate NY
