I just smacked my Eddyline merlin xt on a sharp rock today, and i heard an awful noise. the corbonlite 2000 deformed a lot, and I was sure it would have a huge hole in the boat. I inspected it immediately, and i cannot even tell where it hit. It took the hit, and no damage. great stuff.

Its like watching old assembly line videos of Model T's being put together, where people are actually running the machines and fitting everything together!

Great job on video. I have been looking forward to seeing this process and learning more about it.

I know it’s an old video. But I wish you could get the multi color eddylines like in the video. I’d love to have an orange and blue. Like gulf racing colors

Ok for light duty use. Hard to repair unlike composite kayaks. Does deform more than a composite hull.

Been following Eddyline since the early 80's looking for design ideas living outside of Denver and later in the North Sound. My daughter is thinking of getting a kayak. Do I build her one or do I let her buy one of those vinyl "spud" boats?Electrostatic polycarbonate?

Would it be possible to get a boat with turquoise bottom and Orange top? I was looking at the Denali.

It's a pain in the a$$ (actually back & shoulders) to load/unload & carry my kayaks. Except my Eddyline Fathom. It's the longest and lightest boat I have.

@@ArcolaBridge You should really look into plastic welding that’s just going be a temporary fix. plastic welding really is the best way to do it. I myself have a Coleman Scanoe RamX And it is not easy to fix it’s crossed linked high density polyethylene which turns the HDPE from a thermoplastic that can melt into a thermoset plastic which means it no longer melts… at this point It’s not easy to repair, even before adhesives and epoxy’s will NOT stick to HDPE. A guy has to bevel the crack or hole then sand & rough up the area to create tooth or bite and then get a Polyvance's KCWPRO airless plastic welder and fill the hole or crack to create a plug… then sand. Your boat being made of ABS Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene can be glued with adhesives but also can definitely be repaired with the polyVance welder and some ABS welding rod… You can get any color you want on Amazon. If I were you do some research and look into it yourself I highly recommend it

@@MudMotorsMax I thought about that but the damage was huge and I ended up using a Dremel to open up the cracks quite a bit and then I used a wire wheel to put some serious grooves either side of the cracks inside and out then I used 60 grit sandpaper to rough it up a bit more then I applied the methyl methacrylate and it really really strong. I called eddyline to consult what I should do and they said to use the methyl methacrylate with fiberglass cloth and it would be stronger than it was originally. But I chose to use carbon fiber cloth because it's stronger and last longer. No worry about galvanic corrosion on this kayak. I did think about plastic welding and using those metal screens to connect the the cracks together even better but I don't know how well that would have worked and it might not have been easy at all to try to get the cracks aligned to their original shape. I could be wrong that could have been a great way to do it but I did it and there's no undoing it now. It's really really strong and I'm totally confident in it at this point. The only thing I don't like about the methyl methacrylate is that it sets up really really fast in about 5 minutes. It's pretty cheap go on Amazon you can get a lot of it for 50 bucks. I was worried that the ABS acrylic would not plastic Weld and according to eddyline it wouldn't have worked out very well. That was my original suggestion but they said not to do it. I guess the ABS acrylic is layered together and they didn't think the plastic weld would be a good choice. The cracks are actually stronger now then I think it was originally that's what eddyline says and I think they're right it's pretty tough and I don't expect it to be temporary at all I think it's a permanent fix. Methyl methacrylate is a thermoplastic that is used to put dump trailer beds together and things like that it's a pretty hard core product.

@@ArcolaBridge Yeah I’m a pretty big fan of plastics I’d like to start building my own small shallow water boats one day. I have been researching and scouring the Internet to figure out what material to make them out of. It has to be affordable, slightly flexible, impact resistant, easily manufactured and repair so anything like Roylex or Tformex just too expensive. I am leaning towards a a cross-linked high density polyethylene (HDPE or UHMWPE)
