This records every detail of what a full-on working day for a full-time artist living in London (covid-19 edition) looks like. It's kinda revealing watching this back myself, but I hope my way of time managing and plannin will inspire and motivate you during this odd time. It's hard to make sense of it all, but we gotta try I suppose ✊

I've kinda forgotten the feeling of having someone there for consistently for you until my mum moved here and I'm so grateful for that. I follow a similar routine; I seem to have major brain fog during the day and great focus at night time. I could never adjust to working fulltime 9-5 jobs no matter how long I did them for. I felt like a zombie all day and then would gradually become more awake and alert as the evening progresses. It's always important to listen to your body and follow the rhythm which will allow your creativity to flourish !
Can’t agree more, i was like that and i had to find ways to numb myself from it... it’s so good to know that im not alone in feeling this way 🤘❤️

ahh i really relate to your last comments about being told to sleep earlier when you just can't be as productive outside of the midnight hours. (ironically this was from a semi-creative friend too) but it's so good to hear you've embraced your own work flow and routine! and clearly you continue making some wonderful art out of it, so it's clear that only you know what works best for you.

Hi John, I’m an older artist (54) and when I was young my most productive time to work was 10pm to 5am and I didn’t sleep much. Unfortunately what I was doing wasn’t healthy. But I loved it. Can’t do it now. I’m up at 8am and in bed by 9:30pm 😊 can’t wait to see more of your videos.

I'm so glad I found this video. Very helpful for someone like me who doesn't know how to manage my time from doing art and doing some random things that are most likely unimportant 🙁💛
Means a lot for me to read this, it's so rewarding know that this impacted you in a positive way. I mean, I get days when I would just lie on the sofa for hours and scroll through instagram on my phone. I could shame myself for not being productive but I feel like that's unhealthy to do. So I try to think of the time I spend doing nothing as time for me to relax and to restore my energy. And then I'll use that energy to make up for lost time and work extra hard. Not sure if this will work for everyone but certainly for me :)

My art is always composed of strictly ethnic minorities, and for the same reasons as you. And I LOVE Bob the Drag Queen. I got to see his show before the pandemic

Lots of artists work at night. There are memes about it but you are correct about the work load. It has to be manageable and NOT over-whelming for sure.

Hi cool video! I just started doing calendar blocking like in school and it helps me too! I def relate with feeling guilty about working at night, but I guess as long as you rest and accomplish what you want to accomplish, we should be able to live guilty free x)

Yah its nerve wrecking, just know that by getting over that fear you get to unlock a whole lot of your other potentials. Also the more you overcome your fears, it gets easier to just get the work done 💪
Same, My schedule is also very different from the “normal” work day. But I like it and it makes me feel productive. Our productive time does not have to match those of mainstream society.

I'm a full time artist and I'm having such a hard time sticking to my weekly schedule. I'm feeling so burnt-out all the time. I always do crazy amounts on the last days before my deadline each week and it kills me. If I could just divide it up over 6-7 days a week and stick to it I wouldn't be so stressed out. One thing I'm noticing about your schedule I might try is moving my workout to the morning. I've been doing it in the evening but maybe it I do it in the morning it will give me that boost and I'll get more done.
Woaw it takes courage to share this, I appreciate that. Burn out is the number one thing that I try to avoid. This video (seth godin in general) ua-cam.com/video/ZM3s4LIzEOM/v-deo.html really helped my understand burn out as an idea a bit more and how to manage it, I suppose. So, If there is any conflict within what you do, it probably best to get rid of it, or get the story straight and seth would say. But yah, I also like to go for runs when i'm feeling fed up, it solves the problem everytime 😊
Would also recommend a booked called "the untethered soul" by Michael Singer. Its about becoming more aware of what's happening in your mind and letting those things go so that you can be more centered amd focused. Hope this is useful :)

I am happy to see someone else having a similar rhythm to mine. I always struggle if it is ok, how I organize my work, as the general rule is somewhat "work is a 9-5 thing" or 8-4 or whatever. But I also like to drag out my day until 1-2 in the morning, therefore getting up later and starting later. But somehow, what other people do at 8-11 in the morning, I do at 22-01 in the night. I don't know if it is generally a habit thing or a personal rhythm thing.
Yah I think it’s hard to tell it’s because the reason changes everyday. I can only speak for myself but my reasons are usually bc I didn’t do enough during the day (getting distracted) so I make it up at night. This is called revenge bedtime procrastination btw lol. Another reason for me is bc I’m too much in the zone and getting lost in the work, and also wanting to finish something, which is often unrealistic. And then i end of going to bed and waking up late and the cycle repeats 😰 soo yah i would say it’s both habit and personal rhythm. Sorry about the long essay ...
