True Colors - Camden Voices (self-isolation/virtual choir cover)

- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- In a time of physical isolation, we believe more than ever in creating new ways to stay in touch and keep doing the things we love. So, with that in mind, here is our first ever virtual performance of the gorgeous True Colours, recorded straight from our own homes. We hope it brings some happiness and calm in these crazy times 💛
When coronavirus hit the UK, our rehearsals, concerts and tours were cancelled- and, like everyone, we were each stuck in isolation at home. Many of our choir members had travelled back to their home countries to be with family and loved ones. After the initial shock, we became determined to refocus our energy and create something positive and inspirational for each other and our community.
This video shows what can happen when we work together, and how we can overcome obstacles with technology and our imagination. It is 28 individual videos, submitted from all over the world, combined into one- a truly international collaboration that shows the power of music in our lives.
Thanks for watching- please give this video a thumbs up, leave a comment below and don't forget to subscribe for new videos 🎥⭐🎶

You made us cry!! We are Red Cross Disaster Nurses doing what the Red Cross does. We will surely be careful but we won't stop. What keeps us going? The smiling, shining faces of our clients and people like you. How very beautiful you all are. A rainbow of joy. We will get through this disaster. And the next one. And the next. We will drink the joy that folks like you serve up and keep going. Thank you so very much. Peter A Poccia, RN, Disaster Health Services, American Red Cross. (give blood; the Red Cross is desperate)
thank you for what you do!
Thank you thank you thank you for what you are doing... PLEASE be safe and GOD Speed 🙏
thank you for your service to your communities
Thank you so much for your service.
God bless you!
For the previous 5 days, when I get up in the morning, I tell myself: Do not turn on the computer !!! It's all bad news !!! But I do turn it on, and my first choice is listening to your wonderful post. Again, bless you all, my friends.
Beautiful. A lovely rendition and so uplifting. All of us are isolated-but the internet has connected us all in this terrifying pandemic and people like you uplift us. Far different to how people were a few weeks ago-stuck in their instagram and facebook oblivious to the people sitting next to them. This is what the internet was invented for-to connect all humanity in a positive, wonderful way.

Nice 😍great song. Good Job Guys 👍
Marvellous!
Every time I hear this song the only Thing I can think of is KODAK.
This is beautiful
MERCI d'exister ! ❤🌹
I don’t normally respond to videos. I don’t usually hit like or dislike. In fact, after years of watching UA-cam I can count the number of likes I’ve given on two fingers. This is the second. Thank you!
Thank you for your support!
This video appeared right after I watched a song called “The Distance” by. a Canadian (Rick Pearson) who wrote the song over 40 years ago and seems so fitting now.💜This choir is beautiful, glad I got to see it,thanks 🙏🏻👍🏻
Very nicely done :)
🤗lovely
👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
Uplifting
😀 We are one world 🌎 stay safe 🙏😇♥️🇩🇪🍀
beautifful
Tuyệt quá ạ
wonderful. Cyndi Lauper would be proud.
Thank you for doing this. My 6yo non-verbal autistic son has been trying to sing along with you all, even sitting next to the TV to pretend he is among you. It has helped a lot in his development of speech. I just wanted to let you know that your work, and a few other similar choirs, have helped a disabled child.
Wow, that is cool. My son is non verbal autistic too. I will have to try to see how he reacts. How do you work with his speech? Is it ABA? No therapist in the town I live in, Sweden, has introduced me to speech training. We are supposed to get the help for free, but I guess they just do not want to give it to us. Thank you! Lots of love to you!
Mountain Mage Your comment made me cry! How amazing to envisage this child being so motivated to belong that he is standing next to the TV pretending he is among them. It feels like a symbolic image for all us & our craving to belong; but most of us are not willing to be so brave, so authentic, so transparent. Bless you & your son. Thank you for sharing this
Thank you for sharing. Music reaches in and squeezes the heart. Lots of love to your amazing son x
@@Sandra-fc8pc I'm sorry no one has provided your son with speech therapy. Our students receive it through school; I work at a school for kids with autism. You might be able to find some resources through our page and blog-- thecenterfordiscovery.org/ Good luck! :)
Thank you. As a hospital worker at a covid-19 (corona virus) positive site, I deeply apreciate it. Im a hospital security officer risking my life along with some of our best and bravest nurses to contain this virus. I dont usually cry but I sure did when I saw this. Tell him we love him and are risking our lives so he can live long. God Bless.
This is beautiful. I’m an NHS nurse, these last couple of weeks have been scary and frightening for all of us. This made me think of all my wonderful NHS and other frontline colleagues. And made me cry like a big baby. Thank you ❤️❤️
Jennifer- thank you for all the good work you are doing x
respect to all nurses!
Jennifer Colahan no Jennifer, THANK YOU! and be safe
Jennifer, you are the hero, .. each day you step out to provide medical assistance during these times. Jennifer never ever forget who you are, what you stand for ... all I can say is thank you xxxx

I've been brave. I'm isolated, elder, disabled. I post stuff on local FaceBook groups to keep up morale. I didn't know how badly i needed this until i heard it. thank you
GrannyGamer1 sending lots of love and a big hug your way from all of us Camden Voices, stay strong x
Keep up GrannyGamer1 ! I hear you and I feel for you ❤️ Everything will be ok. 💋💓🇨🇦
God Bless you!
GrannyGamer1 - you're not alone, hugs and love to you, keep the faith.
May god bless you, we are together ❤we will overcome this together😊
I really needed this. I’m not a doctor or anything like that (I’m just a kid) and I don’t have some cool story like a lot of you but I was really moved by this. This pandemic has been really hard on me (like many others). This was my last year at the school I’ve gone to for 9 years and I certainly didn’t want it to end like this. But, it is what it is, and I know God has a plan for this. Stay safe and keep hope!!! Love you all💕
Hello Taylor, what lovely words you wrote, you said 'I'm just a kid' but it is people like you who will go on to look after the rest of us and this beautiful planet. The fact you love this song, the words, and the idea of it , shows me you are a sensitive caring person and I wish you all the best. Stay strong and enjoy your life
ua-cam.com/video/XqjB9amlaSE/v-deo.html
Hello there younger ones, we owe the world on you. Cheers and just let this pandemic fades away. Stay safe, we love your generations and you are our hopes and dreams. This too shall pass and we will get back in to our normal lives again soon.

Never be scared of anything the only thing you should fear is fear itself
Once in a great while you hear music that is so exquisite that you spontaneously burst into tears touched by the beauty of it all. Alone sheltered in place this 66 year old who was a vocalist in college was transported there by your creation. Thank you, thank you for sharing this at this time. You are precious. I’m so honored to have heard you. I’m sharing this with all my friends, family, loved ones. Much love.
Jin Shin Jane hang in there, sweetheart. We’re going to make it through this to the other side.
SO beautifully expressed...I'm sharing it as well! Be safe & well.
I embrace with radical amazement the love expressed by so many wonderful people...we all need some more love right now.
well said :)
Me too mark
Wow - that is the most moving and beautiful arrangement of this song I have ever heard. Thank you so much. It is an inspiration!
This song brought me to tears. I have 12+ years of music experience, and cannot go a day without both singing AND listening to something. Beginning a virtual chorus myself, I decided to take a look at some, and think I’m so glad to have found this, because this? This is the single most beautiful song I have EVER heard.
This is a great cover. When Cyndi Lauper sang this, there is no way she or anyone else could have known what a timeless, iconic piece it would quickly become. I hope one of your 15,000+ likes is from Cyndi herself. If not, in time, I think she'll visit this video and throw a like your way. You all did an amazing job! It was fantastic.
That's correct..
This is massive. Beautiful. Pure and cleansing, like the fire of selfless love always is.
💕
I'm sure she knew. It's that well written.
Awesome!
This is beautiful - can someone caption it - you have the lyrics - just need to lay it in at the right points in the video... PLEASE - for people with hearing loss, we dont know what words you are saying (maybe catch this and that) and trying to guess from a transcript is frustrating... captioning includes more people to enjoy your music!!!!! PLEASE
Thanks for bearing with us @stevieterp- captioned lyrics now added to the video. Let us know if they work OK!
@@CamdenVoices WOW, great!! I didn't know you could CC these. Thank you.
Lovely. Thank you. Lost some friends through Covid. Lovely to hear this. Thank you and stay well.
I have managed to stay cheerful and strong during this this weird life we are living now. This found a vulnerable spot. Made me cry. Thank you!
WOW - this is absolutely stunning! If anyone doubts the power and the capacity of music - especially of the human voice - to inspire and heal, convey feeling and spirit, this recording by the Camden Voices should take care of that!
So beautiful! Thank you all for sharing your uplifting beauty so generously and creatively with us, the whole world! Ironic, isn't it, that physical distancing has led us all to reach out in new ways to touch more deeply, more intimately, more expensively...your beauty rocks! 🎶🎶🎵❤💕💕💕

This was originally written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly in a gospel ballad style. “Cyndi completely dismantled that...arrangement and came up with something breathtaking and stark...” said Billy Steinberg(I think ). The person who arranged this song for all your voices has also done something amazing! Maybe I just missed seeing that credit... I would love to sing this arrangement with one of my choirs. Thank you, everyone!
Hey, I was just about to write the same thing :) Credit to the real song writers is always a good thing. Also, who is conducting and yes, who arranged it A beautiful rendition! And big kudos to the sound engineer for pulling it all together. No mean feat!

As a Public Safety officer, we need all the uplifting opportunities we can get in these days of turmoil and uncertainty. THANK YOU Camden Voices for keeping me going.
Thank you for all the hard work!

Great stuff, made me cry, and i'm one who's into my: Punk, Rock,Metal and Goth music, lol. Also here on my own now mum's gone , was thinking of her while I was listening to this. Take care, lovely people, and be safe
❤

Yes this shows the true colors and power of innovation when we come together physically distant but so connected socially and musically. Thank you for putting this together Hello from BC Canada!
today I was tested for Corona Virus and will have my results in the next few days but you put a smile on my face . and took my mind off this pandemic . thank you
Prayers
let us know.
Blessings to you. Stay strong
Hope you’re ok. Did you get your results?
Absolutely Brilliant for the NHS in what they are doing for ALL of us, Everyone Stay Safe and Well and Thankyou, xxxx
Stirling, I hope you and your Family are safe and well?!!? Give us a Tweet to confirm this please, because we love you, xxxx
By far the most' beautiful harmony I've heard in a long long time. Just wondering how you go the audio of everyone to work at the same time. Did you use ZOOM, if so how did you set it up.
That is the mystery to me also Why is everyone singing at the same speed? How did you coordinate everyone?
Each person record their own part from the song by listening to the same accompaniment track..then they send it to the conductor/person who will edit it by combining all the videos and synchronize all the voices..
Very beautiful. I do wish such a thing could be done in real time
epic! it warms the heart to hear the human voices coming together, each with an individual story. in a film or concert, you cannot see all the individual faces. this is better. Thank you for sharing. Peace & Blessings.
24 people that clearly don't have a soul are the ones who gave this a thumbs down. This was beautiful, and thank you. Well done kids!
29 now but I totally agree
There're people among us that that are injured but you may not be able to see their injury. The injury may be very deep, from long ago, still raw, an open wound, bleeding. Our job is to heal that wound. No, the scar will never go away but it will fade, getting lighter and lighter, until they can see beyond their own pain - very hard to do when you have an open wound - and they can again hear the song of the world around them. I know from whence I speak; I began my "nursing" career in the rice patties of Viêt-Nam. I came home angry, bitter, bleeding. But caring people would have none of it; they healed me. I'm just returning the favor.
It's up to 48. smh.
I have to agree except those that did like it are probably either bots, or have some serious need for prayers to help them get some healing for sure!
these are pro singers ... and they are NOT kids. They get paid and travel the world ... the ONLY difference is they are singing individually and a wonderful recording engineer is making it sound like they are alltogether.. so 12 thumbs to the engineer.. is that you Roger?
The Universal language of sound going out on the airwaves, heart to heart, melding into the spaces that need nourishment, healing and joining us as one. Without the distractions of daily, we are feeling the connection to each other more deeply than ever before. Let the colours of the rainbow shine, let us put down our differences and forgive one another......do we have the luxury any longer to hold the negative? And that's why I love you, your true colours, are beautiful.......
Thank you ALL SO much!! This was SO inspirational! You guys are AMAZING!!! I cried, I help many elderly widows and widowers, and I lost the one I was closest to, just day before yesterday....The joy of the Lord IS my strength! I WILL continue to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might! I will NOT stop helping, serving, and loving those that God has put near me!
This song, spectacularly performed, ties in well as another tribute to the dedicated people on the front line. They’re making it possible to maintain our existence and diligently work toward being able to safely manage this health crisis. Through the entire spectrum of their personalities and individual characters they uniquely are, they collectively demonstrate their true colors ... this unique relationship stems from the mutuality and equality of each involved individual.
Tens of thousands of “front line” people are currently demonstrating their true colors. We're immensely thankful for that. Now, who do we become through all of this? Think about the opportunity afforded to all of us to 'reset' our values, our true colors going forward.
This is so beautiful. I'm a nurse Practitioner and this has lifted my spirits......and made me cry at the same time. Thsnk you ❤
Well done guys a bit of humanity during the crises "shining through"
Love this guys. Really beautiful. Well done. Sorry to hear your Concert and Tours got cancelled. But so glad you managed to find away to share your talents with the world. Amazing. Thanks for sharing. xxx
Beautiful, inspirational, uplifting - thanks Camden Voices - stay safe and well - from Montana USA

The male bass voices are exceptional. also loved the female vocals overall. beautiful work, guys!
Does not matter how many times i hear this beautiful song, it brings me to heart wrenching tears 😢😢😢😢
Stay safe Renee!
Thank you soooo much! You deeply moved me! I cried and had to sing along immediately - after 2 weeks of silence at home - I'm a theatre actress and singer - and you really helped me just now - here's to you and to Cindy Lauper
Truely beautiful - your harmonies are amazing, THANK YOU so much Camden Voices (an awesome interpretation of one of my favourite Cindy Lauper songs). My Mum in the UK has just sent this through to me, I'm in New Zealand - so am now going to send it to my Kiwi friends - just wonderful!!! Kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawanui Camden Voices!
This is absolutely beautiful - I nearly cried. Grateful for all those putting their lives on the line to make sure we are safe
In behalf of myself and all the nurses around the world, THANK YOU for the MUSIC. STAY SAFE and STAY HEALTHY... ALWAYS. ❤❤👏👏👏
This is the best version of this song!!!
A big thanks to the one who arranged this, to the participants and to all the medical workers, TTC operators, grocery workers, the couriers and all the front line workers who keep us safe while they can not be. Hats of to you all!
Incredible soul-lifting music
I'm sorry you've had to split up due to the virus but thank you for finding a way to keep singing together even though you are apart. I pray you all stay safe and well
You are a true blessing to all in these times of fear and anxiety, it is wonderful to hear and see harmony in life right now, when all we see is discord, thank you all for what you are doing, my the good lord or whatever you call a higher power bless you all for the peace you are bringing those that truly need it.......................
Sweet!! Jumping from black & white to full color at the key shift sent shivers
OMG! I love this song and you guys have done such an amazing job! Brought me to tears 🥰💖
Hey there- we are craving to sing through these weeks. Please, let us know how to set this up?
I hate 60 people who disliked this.you guys were fantastic.this is fantastic.
and you are sentimental
No you don't. Everyone likes different things.
Karmin Trent Don’t let the hate stop your appreciation for people who want to do good. They could just be jealous of their own lack. Stay strong and enjoy life.
You need nay-sayers to fuel a different kind of motivation. Rising above, takes a whole different set of skills. (Agree with you though Karmin, it's great)
It's not possible to hate anyone while listening this 🙂💔
Beautiful! The only thing could make it better would have someone Interpreted in ASL! It's an awesome song to watch is ASL. But you all made me smile love this song.
Thank you so much for this--I am 80 and really feeling the lack of the touch of my family -thank you
Hope you’re okay and you’ve had some family time since. 💗
Godbless to those 232 dislikers. I hope you all find a life
Beautiful, moving and appreciated. The world needs more stars like you guys and girls.
lovely sound, harmony & impressive IT to bring this vid together. Well done all
Such an inspiring and beautifully presented, Camden Voices. Just what's needed in times like this. Loved the harmony and thanks so much for the captions so the deaf and hard of hearing can see the lyrics we all hear. God bless you. Lyn Lockrey, australia.
Brilliant proficiency! The phrasing of each singer seems to be perfect! How did you do that, just with metronome?
Did anyone ever tell you how this was done? I'm a choir director at my church and would love to do this with my choir..
@@DunderKlomp Well this should be something software could take care of. Have everyone sing a note, and then note the time delay on each singer, and then have a computer automatically adjust the delays to sync up, ie by delaying the shortest delay, longer, to match the longest delay. If there is no software like this, someone should program one.
outstandingly beautiful. I was so looking forward to singing with you on 21st March with Vocal Dimension Chorus and the wait is going to make it even more exceptional when we sing together. Thank you for such a beautiful sound and message X
Thank you so much for this beautiful and touching performence!!! It makes me cry...
fantastic sound as always Camden Voices and what a wonderful song to sing at this difficult time for all of us on the planet. x
I'm in tears your voices are all so beautiful and full of emotion 😭😭❤️❤️
Well done! MUCH better than the celebrities singing.
You have inspired me to continue with my children's choir. This will be the first video that I share with them. Thank-you. You guys are awesome!
As a passionate chorus singer, I was very moved by this beautiful arrangement/performance. Thank you for making music to sooth our mind and soul through this pandemic!
God sees our true colors and wants us all to have hearts for him, especially now.
I am feeling especially emotional today. Thank you for this beauty in a time of sadness and uncertainty.
This is gorgeous. Beautiful intonation, lovely arrangement. How on earth did you do this?! Truly moving.
True creatives!
Look forward to the harmony you bring!
So beautiful and so touching...I would like to get permission from you all to do a dance video to your song with dancers from all over the world. How do I contact you? I am a former dancer with the New York City Ballet and now a ballet teacher in Israel with major connections in the dance world. You can find me on facebook as Susan Freedman Londoner. I would love to speak to someone about this...Just gorgeous and so touching
