Wow! Such a beautiful creature. Reindeer and caribou are the same species so it just depends on what you call them where you live!!
Thank you very much for your comment! Indeed, many Canadians call it Caribou but Europeans call it Reindeer. I was told by an Inuvialuit resident that the Sami reindeer herders first brought reindeer from Western Russia across the straight into Alaska in 1894 and 1898. A portion of the Alaskan herd were brought over to Canada in 1931 by some Sami family members who, in turn, managed the herd for considerable time.
