      Same! my mom and I love this movie as well. I’m waiting for her to come out of the bathroom, so I can tell her the “wonderful” news 😂😢😭. I’m black and I don’t see the point in all this. the movie has nothing to do with race. So why change it based off of race alone. It doesn’t make sense. 😢
      hopefully this doesn’t come out wrong, but that’s why I never liked black movies. Every black movie I watched growing up always had to let you know it’s a black movie. Ex: stereotypical things like chicken, clothes, hair, location, the n word, racism and so on. Sorry didn’t mean to type that much 😅

    The dumb part of rebooting It's a Wonderful Life is that it's so well told, and a similar type of story has been told so often that it's practically archetypal.
    If you're going to do an updated version with different stressors for George to face or a different community, you could just as easily slap a different title on it and make your own thing.

    • @firstconsul001

      I wouldnt say 'No more diversity', that on its own is extremely racist. BUT... I would specify merit and culture should be given more importance than diversity. Its not a good practice to destroy well instated story lines to protect diversity.
      If you are creating new storylines, where different view points can be explored, it would be important to add characters and actors from different ethnicities and communities to ensure inclusion. This isnt some far left radical ideology like the lefties make it out to be. Its simply allowing those kids to feel included when watching the movies, or even adults to feel a sense of acceptance and connection when watching those movies and tv shows. Obviously it takes a bit of morality as well as some sympathy to understand their point of view.
      Representation is important, but preserving culture is important as well. Instead of replacing well set storylines with mushed up modern ones, be imaginative create new stories. For example Wakanda forever, The Princess and the Frog, Everybody hates chris, and many more wonderful prodcutions has been made representing many wonderful communities and I love every single one of them
      P.S. : We already have a diverse version of the Wizard of Oz. Its called 'The WIZ' (1978). Now thats a perfect remake

    There was a movie back in the seventies called “It Happened One Christmas “ with Marlo Thomas . It was adapted from It’s a Wonderful Life. I watched it once, it was nice seeing the same high school gym being used, and there is a short interaction Mary has with her husband (was he still named George?) in the Pottersville universe that differs from the original that I thought was interesting. At the end of the day, you don't need to watch It Happened One Christmas when you have It's a Wonderful Life. It's not bad, it's just nothing special.
      There was an even more obscure made-for-TV spinoff called "Clarence" in the early 90s. Clarence is played by a younger actor because "angels age in reverse." Tells you everything you need to know about that one.

    This ruined my day. My favorite movie of all time “It’s a wonderful life” changed my life for the better and it has saved so many peoples lives. It is a shame they are remaking it. And to make it even worse they are making it without the same idea and values as the original. It is a true tragedy due to the fact that many young folks may not see the original film, and only know of the new one. With many young folks being depressed ,more than ever the original it’s a wonderful life is well needed.

    Hollywood just keeps proving that the only thing they're capable of is remaking movies rather than coming up with their own unique ideas. I also can't understand why anyone would want to take part in a remake rather than a role in a new story. The ability to portray a character no one else has done before and be recognized for that, has a whole lot more meaning than trying to compete with performances of the same character, from actors who most likely did it far better.

    • @placeboeffect666
      @placeboeffect666 6 місяців тому

      Lolol wow…. So by your logic, why are we adapting books to scripts to be acted out on a stage…. but then OHHH, it was loved so much they rewrite the script for screen adaption, hire all new and younger actors to play the roles and then imprint that atrocity permanently on a reel of celluloid film.
      The absolute ability to adapt stupid opinions of other people and make it sound so much better, but worse, but like you totes improved the way the character was thinking about and saying the asinine things concerning his own opinions and actions. Like, for real tho… I don’t even doubt for a second that was a remake from a different perspective on stupidity. You must be a METHOD actress. Such a huge fan. 😯😮🙄👹🤷🏻🤣

    • @aspry91
      @aspry91 6 місяців тому

      @placeboeffect666 I find it entertaining the amount of offense you took to my opinion. However, there are several people who would tend to agree that genuine stories from around the world, so many of which have yet to be heard, would hold more impact in diversification, as well as interest on a mass scale as opposed to a 3rd remake of Charlie and the chocolate factory or any live action remake of a story that's been heard a thousand times before. Also, most books would be better off left as books rather than being butchered and adapted to stage or film.

    Like some people have already said, The Wizard of Oz was already remade as a black adaptation The Wiz. It was originally a play and then turned into a movie in 1978. I'm not sure it should be remade because I believe the original The Wiz is already great. If there is nothing wrong with these remakes, I will be watching. These adaptations aren't because of the recent race swapping of things, and it actually has already been happening since back then. I believe since they have done it so much in the current age of cinema, people aren't willing to see a different adaptation from the original. Hopefully it will be done right but I can't speak too soon on whether these remakes will be good or not.

    Haven't even watched the video yet, but I have to say that the fact we're even _hearing_ about a remake for "It's a Wonderful Life" disheartens me... It's literally my favorite film. Ever. I only watch it once a year (on Christmas Eve), but, every time I do, something new (and dare I say even poignant) stands out to me about it.
    Lately, I realized just how important it's message is for today's world, where suicidal ideation and the act itself are on the rise, because it is all about why it is _so important_ to live. No, not everyone is going to be a George Bailey who saves a town from complete corruption and saves their brother's life.
    Yet, so, so many people _have_ given up something they want for the people they care about. So many have felt cheated because of the mistakes of others falling on them. So many have tried to hold onto a dream only to see that it'll never come true, that the things they've hoped for are out of their reach.
    But what Clarence writes to George sums it up pretty well: "Remember, no man is a failure who has friends."
    Not everyone may have people showing up by the dozen to donate to their business to keep them out of jail. But, when you reach out, when you keep hold of the people you care about and keep in touch with them, then how could your life _not_ be worth living? *Our relationships are the most important things in life!* Take away that message, and, well... I suppose that says it all, really.
