Hi Emanuel. Glad you like our 2nd plane :)
At 13:00 you talk about the "Engage starter with mixture" option. It works like an imaginary button at the bottom of the mixture lever. You need to pull the mixture lever back into this button to engage the starter. When the engine fires then you can move the mixture forward.
Also the engine restart kinda shows how delicate these things are. You didnt have the thottle at idle so the air/fuel ratio was not correct. TwoToneMurphy did the same thing on stream and nearly ended up in the bush.
Anyway, we are really happy with this plane and cant wait for everyone else to try it out.
You did phenomenal work, very clear from the video.
Thank you very much Tommy! You're right, I should have read the guide a little closer about the throttle setting for the in flight restart ;-)
COWS made no mistake about who would be the first to show us the plane!
I did my PPL on the 40 and CPL on 42. Fantastic aircraft!!! The sounds from the cockpit and engine are exactly precise!! Now if only something like this was out 5 years ago!
I know right! The sounds are spot on!
@ yes sir!! Beautiful mod. I would have killed to have this when I was training 👏
@ I know right? I’d settle for a decent 172 or 182. PA28 would be nice too lol
I totally feel you! I had to use Carenado stuff back then to learn the pitch and power numbers, but at least that's (about the only thing) something they got right on the Seminole and later the Seneca!
@@A330Driver it’s truly and amazing time for flight sim :)
The DA-40 is by far one my fav planes to fly. It’s so hard to stall her it’s virtually student pilot proof! Glad COWS has represented it MSFS so well.
Especially the different characteristics at different flap settings are really neat!
Day one purchase, and I hope COWS will make a "DLC" with NG version
Damn, this oscillating sound of the engine at 36:44 is just amazing sound engineering
Might be a day1 purchase, loved their DA42!
I’ll be picking this up ASAP, love COWS products. Would love an SR-22 with the details that COWS is known for.
I'd absolutely love one as well! Though I got to say the default one is actually pretty good.
I have to admit your video made me buy the DA40 instantly and i already did some lovely flights from Mallorca to Ibiza at sunset. It took me three tries to figure out how to start that engine. 😀 The throttle and engine sounds are just too good. I had two strange incidents though with the plane suddenly pitching up to the max from one moment to the next into a stall. Luckily i managed to recover so no lives lost :)
I love the COWS DA42, amazing work from the developers and top tier products
Nice, they recreated all the aircraft I trained in.
Love the cows guys, the texture guy is a instructor at my school
I cannot wait to get this!! I fly the pre-G1000 (181 Star) in real life, so finally having a great representation of it in any sim will be heaven (and with excellent sounds to boot). BTW we usually fly it 2100 RPM manifold based on altitude for 65%, gives an IAS of right around 130kts with somewhere between 7-9 GPH, to me the best compromise between speed and range
Lovely, thanks!
I fly this aircraft as a Student Pilot so this is the perfect add-on to master this aircraft and pass check rides with no problem!
Every plane in this sim that I really like has Boris sounds. Says something doesn't it. He is a wizard. Looking forward to your review of his 737 NG sound pack!
The wind turbines are turning but their shadows are stationary... A definite glitch in the Matrix 😁
haha, make sure to report that to Asobo!
Really nice plane! Perfect for VFR training
And even IFR training!
Ive been part of cows testing team on this one, such a beautiful addon, cant wait for the public to enjoy it!
What release version did you use for this vid?
Excellent and informative video as always Emanuel. I was wondering, with how much hype the new Boris Soundpack for the PMDG 737 is getting, will you ever do a review? It'll be interesting to see what you think of the sounds with your experience with the aircraft.
tbh I'm unsure about the Boris 737 pack... I listened to the preview videos, it sounded very robotic, almost as it the sounds were clipped out of youtube videos. I wasn't exactly a friend.
I fly this plane IRL and the biggest 2 learning curves were the constant speed prop and the free castering nose wheel (new PPL). Once you taxi around for a little bit for steering it becomes a lot easier to get used to. Usually I'd fly with a power setting of 23/23 for cruise. Might need to get this one!
22/24 is better
Love to hear it, Ethan! Indeed, getting used to all these different levers is quite a thing during initial training! I was lucky enough to fly a FADEC equipped Cessna (Thielert Diesel) so I only had a single lever.
Flight model is very believable
Indeed it is! Handling the plane is a pure joy like only very few developers tend to be able to realize it.
@@A330Driver Looks on par or better than DCS level flight models.
I accumulated quite a bit of hours in the DA40 during my flight training. This plane was a joy to fly!
I'd be excited to hear your opinion on the flight model of the COWS once it's out! I never had the joy to fly a DA40, I mostly flew Cessnas and Pipers.
COWS+A330 Driver you can't get any better than that!
Cows do such a great job, this is a definite buy for me.
I triend with the DA40 for my private and instrument ratings loved when you instructors come and try to maintain straight during taxing loool
Very good experiance with the DA42! Looking forward to the 40
exceptional landing!!!! great video
Great video. Helped me a lot! Thanx. ❤️🙏
Can't wait to get my hands on it soon!
Sorry but laughed when you said we have a default DA40. Gratz to COWS for another fine aircraft
It's more then fine. It's amazing!
Curious….why laugh? Im not really a GA simmer, mainly airliners, but have flown the default da40 and everything seemed to function correctly. Including the g1000. So wondering what is missing from your perspective.
Amazing video!! (I didn't even notice an hour passed)
15:25 OK like that reflection on the left window is actually reflecting lol. How great is that ?
Man i was early, great vid!
Thank you for making a video on this I’m about to train on this plane
You got to check it out once released, they actually developed it because they trained in it as well and wanted to have something they could refer to when they needed.
Can’t wait for this beauty! ❤❤❤
I really hope they make a Bristell B23. The one we already have in the simulator is awful. I fly this beauty in real life and it's such a pleasure, stable, maneuverable and fast!
Perhaps if you get one of their team to fly one. They choose to simulate those aircraft which they themselves fly in order to get us the highest quality.
What is the graphics settings on your Flight Sim?
Really explanatory and detailed video, congrats captain!
Hi, it’s mostly ultra.
Home airport is YXU so this is excellent :) Thanks!!
We have the North American operations at the airport here in London, got to see where these bad boys get made. Also what most of the trainer aircraft are.
Only been in the DA20, but the 40 is the one I'd want mostly :)
Been there for my XC, Diamonds everywhere 😅
Nice landing, I usually bounce GA planes
It takes a little getting used to indeed, getting that flare height right is somewhat of a challenge, especially after flying widebodies!
Day1 purchase ? Try hour 1 :) I read somewhere the reason for the three prop reductions on the runup is that each time you are looking at a different gauge or some part of the plane to see what it does, but I can't find it again. Does that sound right ?
First minute maybe?
The three prop reductions are actually done to prime the govenor. You'll notice how - during the first flight of the day - the prop will actually be slower to respond on the first attempt. Being able to watch different gauges in detail on each attempt is an added benefit for the pilot.
interesting region where you made the test flight.
are you familiar with the region in real life?
I am, St Peter Ording was one of my favorite "non-airplane" holiday destinations during my childhood. I also did a couple hours of real world flying there over the years.
Study level. You guys are funny.
I got my ppl all the way up to my cfi in the da-40. Good times. When does this drop?
"very very soon"
Looking forward to hear your opinion on it once it's out! It's made with training in mind, it might just about be for you!
The dynamic registrations, while a nice touch, need work. They seem to think that the letters are completely arbitrary, when in fact the first letter after the country code is dependant on the aircraft type and W is in no way shape or form a valid letter. Should be an E.
The problem is that every country does things different. In Germany it's an E, in Austria a K (which in Germany would be a motorglider) and others might follow even different principles.
@A330Driver Well if their database has the country Codes then maybe there is also one for country specific aircraft codes.
Towbar Clear Of Front Gear ....Checked ✅
Why is it so hard for Asobo to fix the lag during landing and touchdown? The whole sim looks so good, being able to have a smooth experience at landing is crucial for simmers. Is this the new update?
i wonder how do you set up your weather... or is it live weather looking that nice? ty
It's live weather. I really think live looks by far the best in this sim.
Is this being played on 2020 or 2024? Thanks.
The plane will work with both sims, I used 2024 to record the vid.
Do you have any interest in helis? Would love to see your flights and explanations.
Interest yes, but I just can't get my head around them. So much information out there on the net that contradicts itself. I guess I feel right back as a "normal simmer", who's searching for information how to fly. Teaching this very information on a pro level was exactly why I opened my channel in the first place :)
@A330Driver And you surely deliver. Maybe one day 😄. Just know that there are people who'd love to watch, even if it's not entirely educational
Would like to see b777 I know you have some cpu issue on long haul
I'd love to see it, too. Hopefully soon, my last PC parts just arrived, I just got to find a day or two to build it, reinstall everything, etc. now.
@@A330Driverwill you make a video testing your gear just like you did with you’re 4090 :)
Love the DA40, fly it in real life.
Use more rudder just before touchdown to come out of the crab.
I think the airline pilot knows about decrabing 😂
I used to fly the DA40 in a club. I loved the aircraft in comparison to the C172. Unfortunately nobody wanted to fly the DA40, so it would have been to expensive to keep it.
I'm definitily gonna try the COWS model, cause the FS2020 model is crap.
Too bad really, but I totally feel you! They got rid of a plane I loved in one of my clubs as well. But I guess you'll eventually get used to the new ones as well :)
my FI: try not to damage the wheels
me: 43:35
is their DA42 compatible for MSFS2024 ?
Yes but obviously by it from their Orbx page I think.
@@ProGamer-gc3wv Wrong. The aircraft IS 2024 compatible, BUT the native 2024 features, like the walkaround has not been added because it is not natively 2024 yet.
and addons have long, since fsx days, have the need to be updated because there has always been a new platform every few yeas
".... too complicated ????". really, it is NOT especially for a quality dev like this. all new features will be added in due time since 20204 is new and the SDK typically takes longer to stabilize (exactly like it was with 2020)
This is filmed in 2024 :)
Msfs needs great GA planes. A2a is simply not getting going.
Absolutely! COWS are really among my favorite GA devs these days!
How does it compare to the comanche? I only fly the c172 in real life and a2a had a great Version for fsx and prepar3d, but unfortunately not for msfs yet. I really miss that.
"Shut up and take my money!" :D I cannot wait COWS will release this DA40! :) Thanks for a great video :)
Pretty sure people wilk milk a few hours out of it.
Srsly MSFS2024 is just a big joke , identical to MSFS2020 for me , but worse so no point in buying a crap game... while the previous version is way better
Diamond Aircraft: Engineering made in Austria 🟥⬜🟥
Thank you COWS for another great Simplane!
And a hint for A330 Driver and the Community: Troglodytus` on flightsimto build the home from Diamond Aircraft "LOAN", yes, you can get this High Quality Airport for free!
Is it freeware now? I purchased it 2 years ago and it was really worth those few bucks.
