Another question I get a lot: "have you stopped using a hammock for camping"? The answer is NO! I still use my AMOK whenever I can, but some trips are better to use a tent, and others is better to use a hammock. It is a little bit situational what I choose. I always recommend people who start out with camping to get a good tent, this is the basic setup most people should have before they start adding to their needs and usage. I may do an own video about this as well 👌🏻 Happy Camping all 🤩 And don't forget to bring good coffee ☕

As I wrote in a comment on one of your earlier videos, I also use the Reinsfjell. But the 2P. It's a very good tent. Before that I also had a tunnel tent (Nordisk Halland 2), but exchanged it with the Reinsfjell for the same reasons as you did. Unfortunately, the tent is a bit expensive, but a good tent is very important. Four more weeks and I'll pitch it at the Lysefjord. And hopefully at many other beautiful locations in Norway. Thanks for your great content! And i wish you a great spring and summer season with lots of exciting adventures.

Here in Norway the 2P Reinsfjell is 10.000,- but the 3P is 7000,- go figure 😂 A good tent is key for a good camping, I always recommend a good tent before anything else. You can add more tents, or different hammocks as well, but the base setup should always be a good tent. Thank you for the great wishes mate, the same to you. Cheers ☕️

Ha ha lol 🤣 Just bought a new tent "Robens Nordic Lynx 4" for the trip up your way this year, and it's a tunnel tent lol, we have a dome tent 3 person, but wanted that big front area for all our gear and more comfort in bad weather, not that you get that in Norway in high summer, lol.
The new tires E0 7+ are waiting for me in the tire shop, probably change them about a month before heading off and that's basically all the prep done, both bikes been serviced, nice fresh Motul 7100 oil, new OEM heated grips fitted to the wife's new 890, got new Galfer brake pads but don't know if I'll change them before we go or take them with me, did get one extra tire spoon from Eastbound as someone told me it makes a huge difference with 3 spoons instead of only 2.
Oh well, nice to see your posting again Thomas ;-) was a little quite for a while, lol 👊

Nice one! I'm using a Salewa Litetrek III, very light weight, easy to set-up. Main reason for choosing that tent is that you clip the poles on the outside, so you never have the issue that the inside is getting wet while setting up the tent in the rain.

I know about the topic that the fabric of the flysheet expands when it becomes wet. I used the same tent (Halland 2PU). But it was a little too short for me and i had the same condensation issues that TSHansen mentioned. Besides of that it is a really good tent. I used it in the alps and on a longer trip to Tuscany, Lombardy and the north italian lakes.

I am curious on how the pack size compares to the Amok hammock set up? As I have less luggage space on my DRZ400 than you on your T7WR. And my current tent has a very large packed footprint.

    • @tshansen

The AMOK system packs smaller than when I bring the tent. When I go camping with my AMOK, all my sleeping gear and my sleeping bag fits inside the stinger, but when I use the tent, I need to bring the sleeping bag in one of the side pockets.

Hi Thomas! We are going to norway on our motorcycles in august, and plan to Camp on campsites. Os it possible to use hammocks there or is it only in the Woods? We are going from Oslo round the workers museum in rjukan and round to Kristians sand for the ferry Home.

    • @tshansen

Hello 🤩 It depends on what campsite it is. Some campsites has good options or places inside to hang a hammock, and others not so much. So i always try to look at satellite imagery from the campsite and see if there is possibility to hang a hammock. The main season is over in August, so there should not be any problems with crowded campsites.

Well, I have a own "rule" I follow on all my trips, I want to set camp between 18 - 20, so I'm finished setting camp and have made me something to eat before it's getting dark. I try not to ride or plan more than 300 - 400 km each day, but that can variate a lot. I try to enjoy the trip, not getting to a certain place. So if I'm really into video I drive way less than if I just ride. How many hours I stay on the bike depends on when I leave camp. Normally I try to get going before 10 in the morning.
