    Thank you, swami, for sharing these lectures online. I have watched the entire sequence of 42 videos and, as an American who has some passing, but modest knowledge of Hinduism, found the series to be a nice comprehensive overview of the vast and ancient topic of the Hindu religion, philosophies, and scriptures. I am left with a better intuition of and appreciation of Indian religion and philosophy from having followed your lectures, and also something of a perspective of how the religious ideas and traditions relate to modern Indian society.

    The real philosophy behind Sanatana Dharma which most of the "followers" don't know. Hope that such messages can bring a tremendous and positive change among the people who believe in the dharma.

    1. Hinduism stands for Freedom(Physical, Emotional, Spiritual, from cycle of life and death) and Universal Acceptance/inclusiveness (Spirituality) ... Ultimate freedom through Self Knowledge and Knowledge of God
    2. Hinduism as society(social, caste system etc.) and religion(16 ceremonies birth/name/upanaya/vivaha/etc.) should not be confused ... but got mixed up in due course
    3. Will+ideation+expression+ realisation is process of manifestation of objects
    4.Objects+Words+Principles=Science
    Objects+Words+Principles+Will+Creator=Religion
    5. Religion is making complex things Simpler through unification ...achieved through meditation ... fundamental property of Existence ... Sat+Chit+Ananda=God ...
    6.Struggle for individual Existence is Life
    Struggle for Universal Existence is Religion
    7. Religion is Prosperity + Nobility and Spirituality is Eminence of Leader(God/Rishis/Buddha/Jaina) ... Hinduism combines them through Kama/Artha/Dharma and Moxa ...
    8. Prosperity achieved through Fair means is Ethics ... Ethics given by intellectuals(Marx,etc.)/society lasts Short ... Ethics given by Religion lasts Long
    9. Religion is Knowing underlying principles of World/ ... the Will of creator ... the Creator Himself
    10. Different sages perceive God differently

    Brief running class notes:
    1. HInduism is highly inclusive religion. It accepts everyone.
    2. Castism is a social concept. It has nothing to do with religion.
    3. Marriage and Sacred Thread are religious custom. But nowadays, it has become social.
    4. Sacred thread is the gateway of spritual learning.
    5. Think-->idea-->expression-->actualisation
    6. Sat --> Existence , Chit --> Consciousness , Ananda --> Bliss
    7. Objects, words, principle , will, God ---> A person who knows all 5 things is called sage
    8. Universal Existence -->Religion (Prosperity, Nobility, Preeminent)
    9. 2 sages will have different opinion about GOD. Never say, God is one. Then God becomes object. God is free, he is the creator . Different people perceive God in different ways. God is Shiva, Vishu and many more simultaneously. If you say, God is only Krishna then becomes finite. It becomes object of your mind.
    10. That's why it is said, A God defined as no God. A God named is no God.

    When did Christianity and Islam become indian? They are abrahamic, not dharmic.

    Swamiji Namaskar, Please let me know whether writing Hindu-ism is correct or not? as the suffix, 'ism' means 'a distinctive practice, system, or philosophy, typically a political ideology or an artistic movement.' So once we add 'ism' with the word Hindu, it creates a different meaning. The same goes for Buddhism, Jainism but on the other hand, we write Christianity or Islam, not Christianism or Islamism. Don't you feel we should avoid using the word Hinduism?

      You are correct, but when something is an accepted norm, I prefer to go with that till someone changes it. I prefer to present the material instead of worrying about the name.
