Main access north and south of Kelowna is a nightmare now, the more you build the worse it gets. Mid day traffic often crawls along at 10 kilometers per hour.
It’s great that new homes are being build… but how is this affordable for Canadians?!?! It seems like another way to get investors and make the housing market unaffordable for the general population 😢
If you don't build any housing, housing gets more expensive. Today's "luxury" housing becomes tomorrow's more reasonably priced housing. But yes, we need way more investment in co-op and subsidized housing! But it's not a zero sum game - if "luxury" buyers don't have much to choose from they will buy lower end housing driving modest income poeople out.
All sounds great and luxurious and beautiful, except the average Kelowna resident is middle to lower class on the income chart, so these condo's are not for the locals, they are for wealthy tourists looking to vacation or purchase a second summer home, making everything for the locals VERY expensive and not enough good paying jobs. I saw this coming 15 years ago, thats why I left Kelowna. Beautiful place, but WHY is it trying to compete with Vancouver and Toronto some of the most expensive city's to live in the world! The regular local folk can't have fun no more
Kelowna is about to become a 15 minute city where you might have what you basically need but try leaving your 'zone' to work or see 'your' hair stylist, doctor or even children This is not a drill. Better speak up now.
the infrastructure to accommodate all of this growth is not there. I live off of Lakeshore near the College and i can tell you, the traffic in this area is a nightmare. I can only imagine what the downtown core will be like when all of this construction is completed and nothing done to accommodate all of the new traffic. 3 more years until retirement and i can move away from this unsustainable, poorly planned crime ridden town.
Sick crap continues. The developers keep the same game going for the ritch investors and for the upper class and their tax free off shore banking . The street for the rest of us Canadian citizens.

Just what Kelowna needs…more density

I miss the old Kelowna from the 70's. Kelowna has changed to much.
And without any improvement to the already awful traffic.

More patients in hallways and alcoves continues in the hospital. Whose responsible for this insanity?
