Sure gonna miss the old girl. These SD9 “Cadillacs” were everywhere in Oregon when SP was around. Takes me back to my childhood when Dad and I would watch four or five of these struggling up the Coast Range along the Tillamook Branch. It was a yearly pilgrimage for us until I turned ten when soon after the line got washed out and was abandoned. It was loud and intense for a little kid but, it’s an experience I’ll never forget. Thanks for filming this soon to be historic footage.
Well GP9 1801 has been sold to BUGX to store it in their yards and 1852 has been bought as well. Can’t confirm 1852, but I got a word about it from a railfan group chat.
Portland and Western #1501 got acquired by DieselMotive Company. Idk what they plan to do with #1501. There is a possibility DieselMotive Company Inc could come back for the other old diesel locomotives on PNWR roster.
man.
I will miss these legendary workhorses

My son sure hopes and prays 🙏 that the run down SD9 and GP9 are preserved and not scrapped.
Don't get your hopes up
@@cabcar82 Not a helpful comment 😑😒😐😕🙄😔 my son is special needs and thinks antique locomotives should be preserved not scrapped.
Well that's the reality of it so yeah nothing I can do

I heard 1852 and 1854 are temporarily returning to service
Yeah that's what I've heard too
What will happen to it?
Scrap
Where was 1801 during that time? Was it still in McMinnville?
Yes
