We've read comment after comment with y'all asking when will the price of new boats start coming down? Well there's one company out there that consistently gives you the bottom of the barrel pricing....Nitro! How do they do it? We have no clue! Johnny's barcode bargain bin rig is the best priced rig out there and things are never going to change. Watch as we go into detail how he does it, why it matters and what the future holds for the competition. Comment below if you're running a Nitro and what your experience has been like!

If someone held a gun to my head and told me I had to buy a brand new boat to live, Nitro is the only option. No level of fit & finish in the industry is worth an extra $20,000-$40,000, especially when you consider the issues that also come with more expensive boats. My z19 rode a bit hard, but it was a reliable boat and the best fishing platform I've ever been on. When the carpet pulls or the seats start to tear, I'll still be glad I'm not another $350 per month over budget for an extra 5 years.

Kind of my thoughts too. If the seats or carpet tear that's $3-5K maybe to replace and even upgrade. Still come out way ahead on the money and have a good boat.

I have a 2021 Nitro Z18pro. It's what was available in the price range I was trying to be in. Always told myself I would never own a Nitro, but here we are now. That being said, it's been a reliable boat the past 2 years. No issues with fit or finish and handles lake michigan better than expected.

My buddy runs a z20 - loaded up - 75mph every day. He has had several brands and says hes unlikely to change off it. Right now, you can get the z20 bare bones for 54995. $4000 more at bass pro can get you two 12" Lowrance lives and $3500 more can get you a ghost and your loaded pretty well for $62,500. Vs the ranger 520r at 100k or a basscat puma at 109k? I couldnt find a way to justify that 40-50k.

My dad ran a 1992 18ft nitro bass boat that ran flawlessly until 5 years ago when it gave up the ghost. We then found a 2008 nitro 189 sport with low hours. It has run absolutely flawlessly. All I have ever done is change plugs, add fuel/oil, and fish/play. People can talk trash all they want but I catch fish and the boat and trailer keeps humming with routine maintenance.

Attended a local boat show about a month ago at a Ranger dealership. This one was named Ranger dealer of the year for 2022. They sell all the White River boats. In the showroom they had a Ranger, Nitro and Triton side by side. Ranger was 107 K. Nitro was 87 K and Triton was 82 K. All of theses were 20 footers with 250 Mercs. I am no expert, but the biggest gripe I have heard on Nitro are that the trailers are just junk! I would think that if all three brands are now built by same folks in same factories, if Nitro is bad, wouldn't they all be bad? Keep up the videos Andy. Always great info!

High volume always equates to better deals and lower prices. Daughter wanted a new Toyota went to one dealer and they said they could knock $1500 of new RAV4, went to another dealer that sold 500 plus units a month and he said pick ANY RAV4 on the lot and he'd take $6000 off, which he did. Total time from test drive to out the door 2 hours. They even let her use her $500 off she got from test driving at the state fair.

I bought a 2021 Z19. The gel coat isn’t as slick of of a finish. But so far I have no complaints. I considered Phoenix , Ranger , Bass cat and Skeeter. The new 2022 prices priced me out of the game. Nitro gave me more bang for my buck. I thought I had made a mistake selling my aluminum boat until I found my Nitro.

Bass pro has the largest established supply chains. The lean six sigma methodology is about reducing waste in their assembly process. Optimizing their methods to take as much cost out of the manufacturing as possible. It's a way to make boats cheaper. When you combine that with his buying power (economies of scale) he gets the best costs on components, glass, electronics, etc. And can then offer the best value in boats, or at least the best profit margins.

They probably do use cheaper carpet, seat materials, and hose materials and clamps for bilge and live wells. But all the other components (gauges, pumps, latches, switches) are manufactured by other companies. The blemishes in fiberglass are caused by workers that lay the glass and spray paint the gelcoat. If they would go to a c trailer and take a little more pride they would be a good boat. I have seen others that have 2 year old boats and there carpet and seats trashed from sun.

Great video. I bought a 2021 Ranger RT178. Great fishing boat. Poor hull paint job. I have had to spray paint on the hull to keep it looking good. My boat has an Ultrex 80 pd. thrust on the bow. I love it. It has the I-pilot with GPS. It is wonderful. It has a poor intake for refueling and it takes about 10 minutes just to put 5 gallon of gas in the tank. The dash is too far away from the drivers seat. Poor engineering job. But, overall, it is better quality than the Tracker which I have had 2 of them. You are right about White River Marine group. They are in control. I have 7 Johnny Morris rods and reels. Boy do they stand behind them. I had 2 situations with 2 of my reels and 1 rod. They replaced all 3 with brand new ones. No questions asked. Very happy with customer service. In thinking about a new fiberglass boat comparing the Z20 NITRO Vs. Ranger Z520R. There is about $30,000.00 dollars savings. Same equipment. That kind of money came buy a lot of new tackle and food, etc,. Its just that Ranger still carries a big name in the bass boat business. It comes down to affordability. Nitro wins on that.

With almost 20 years of LEAN experience it's just a fancy word to say "bean counters run the show and monitor every step to cut cost." We can clearly see where the shortcomings come from in the Nitro. Wood used through the hull, substandard fiberglass, seat material, carpet, hardware, wire, etc. Every step gets scrutinized to cut cost and in the end Nitro runs on the ragged edge of total failure to quality buy. Bass Cat focuses on quality, performance and customer service. You are going to pay more but get a far superior product and if there was an issue with the boat you are treated like family not like a chump off the street.

Sloppy wiring, fasteners already falling out, trailer lights not fitted properly etc. sure the ride may be better from boat to boat but once you get in to a 20’ plus bass boat (modern) they are all gonna fish similar and now that I am done big tournament running, 48 years old and much wiser with my money, I’d pick a nitro strictly for financial but also understanding that resale is what it is. All bass boats are gonna need some constant TLC.

I bought a brand new 2022 nitro I had it ordered last year with custom colors. The boat is great it’s fast rides smooth no issues BUT with the paint there is some darker and lighter spots on the passenger side of the boat and also on the left side of the console like a weird flow line. Not sure if the gel dried to quick or what. You really don’t notice it unless your just really looking over the boat. That is my biggest complaint so far

Great Video-Business Model is simple as it is based on an economy of scale. To the average angler, the difference between a Z21 and a 21' Ranger is the Brand recognition and a few gadgets. I have owned both. I actually live in Flippin, AR so I have seen and talked to line workers at both Ranger and Triton. Doubtful Triton will be in the portfolio long. My last purchase was soured by building a boat on line with quote guaranteed for 6 months. It was a Nitro ZV21. After 4 months went to Springfield to complete build only to find out that they would not honor the build or quote. Left pissed off and bought a 2175 lund. I wish Johnny the best and I am sure that as the industry gets smaller (Brunswick, White River, ....) the margin for error will get smaller. Note-This is how to kill a giant

I was in the marine business for over 20 years owning my own dealership. We sold a high end fishing boat and a mid/low end fishing boat. I sold 3/1 mid range to high end. We had as many issues with the high end as the low end, AND the customer with the high end boat many times made the sale of that boat almost unbearable. Not always, but in our experience the customers made the difference in the buying/service experience. I now own a Nitro, and knew going in the build quality was not as good as some other boats, but was willing to forgo that for the cost differences. My boat has been flawless, and whatever I did to it was for the enhancement of the boat, not on a repair. If I had any gripe it would be for service and the customer care at Bass Pro and Cabella's. They are just terrible, and with any product..........it is how you service your customer after the sale that makes the difference. I picked up my boat..........took it home, and spent the week rigging and propping it correctly. 95% of the population can't do that. So..........is a Nitro the Bentley of the boat world, NO............but you have trouble with Bentley's too, at 10X the price of a Ford. Buy your boat..........take care of it...........service it correctly............and it will give you the long life you expect. Or you can be this guy, that brought me his 2010 Evinrude and said..........."Best motor I have ever had........I have not done one thing to it since it was new" Gearcase looks like road tar, spark plugs have no electrode left, mice have lived in the powerhead for centuries....and I can't even get the prop off to lube the prop shaft. Don't even want to touch it...........because whatever happens after this........ITS MY FAULT.

Really? I have a 2018 Ranger Riata that I bought new. Rear livewell leaked over the top enough to flood the rod locker. Back to the factory to get it fixed, two months later supposedly fixed… still leaking over the top. Found out they knew there was a problem with the top cap not sealing around the live well. Got some minnows put them in the front baitwell it was leaking over the top flooded rod locker again. Went fishing in the rain rod locker flooded because the drain drains directly into the rod locker. Went fishing early morning, mooring light didn’t work it had never been connected the wire was laying in the bottom, needless to say no fishing that day had to spend half the day looking for the wire and connecting it up.
There is always water in the bilge because the drains from the livewell etc are a dripping water at the transom. “ Buy a Ranger buy the best” 😂😂😂😂 whoever did the quality control on my boat must’ve been gone that day.

    List of problems :
    1) carpet in lockers are poorly cut to fit, looks like my 10yr installed it.
    2) driver console internal wiring full of fiberglass dust
    3) Driver console wire loosely installed and just thrown in , I had to zip tie everything down.
    4) plier/cup holder next to the built in ice chest was over cut that the top screws was installed and screwed into air only. Had to drill another hole higher were the was fiberglass below.
    5) trolling motor wires pinched under the foot bracket from the factory, just poor production floor people who just don’t care.
    6) driver console had noticeably gel coat defect which I informed basspro, they said they will warranty it, 4 months now, all is quite.
    7) trailer wheel cover stepping rubber pad on trailer lifting of the from day one. I peeled it off and replaced with aluminum Diamond plate.
    8) battery tray with strap useless, battery slides around everywhere. Replaced with better trays with no movement.
    9) manufacturing dust all over boat and inside lockers. Found carpet trimming under locker.
    10) randomly loose screws from factory, I went through and tighten the entire boat.
    11) built in ice chest poorly design on holding sandwich tray, that thing just flops around with nothing securing it.
    12) No shut off switch to cut all battery power. I had to install one that truly shut all power 100%.
    13) Trolling motor support pad installation was not aligned. I had to unscrew and reposition it to be in the center.
    14) edge finish on the wind deflector should be smooth but they just bandsaw cut and install with rough edges.
    15) Fuse box full of grim and dust on the inside.
There’s more, but I’ve listed enough. You get what you pay for.
TOP Quality, not by a long shot. Lowest price YES.
