Excellent advise. Super important with the now common settings of remote site playing. Also an absolute need if you want to use a looper.

@@guitar-academy I found it's more important with a looper or trying to add another track to GarageBand. No visual clues from your band mates or the conductor it's all about timing.

@@Jack.Waters It's a different scenario with an orchestra though because of the distance between musicians and the potential for sound reflection. They have to rely on the visual cue and ignore all the sound around them, which is really, really hard. 🤔

@@guitar-academy oh I remember so well, scary times. I was 2nd chair First Violin for a decade in Public school. I've played in Duets to near 200 members. So very very many years ago. In the Summer it was band and orchestra combined. It could be quite messy at times.
For competition we not only had to memorize the music we also had to have an internal clock. Mine still runs at a default 105. Duets were especially difficult back then. 1970's.
I still remember that tap-tap-tap of the baton and a hundred instruments come to attention.

I have a bunch of different metronomes, physical and apps (albeit PC or smartphone). The one that makes me laugh the hardest though is the Chinese made Cherub, which not only teaches you to stay on the beat but also teaches you how to count in Mandarin! #winning
