Remember, this is a heavyweight who like a welterweight. Imagine being hit repeatedly with bricks from all angles coming at you fast.

Ali had a talent and an artistry that cannot be taught. Just like Michael Jordan. Just like Magic Johnson. Just like Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders. You cannot teach what Muhammad Ali did. It was Artistry. It was created in the mind of someone very unique. His speed. His reflexes. His mental artistry. Will never be seen again in a ring. The man was truly one of a kind

And yet he was invited by Oxford to be a professor of poetry. The man was a force of nature, it’s like the 60s weren’t ready for Ali.

Love Ali!! My uncle used to do exhibition sparring sessions in SE DC. Joe Louis was the greatest Heavyweight and without him we wouldn’t have Jackie Robinson or Ali. Ali was amazing. Power and size of a heavyweight with the speed of a middle weight.

That's a shame family that these two young brothers dont more about Ali ! And Ali lived in more recent times ! So see why we are lost as a people cause we choose not to learn our history and to believe made up history by others about us! Wake up fam peace and love.

The scope of Ali's life impacted the world. His boxing was an aspect for sure. He was likely the best there ever was at his peak only have his title stripped from him in March 1967 when he refused to be drafted into the Vietnam War. In all likelihood he would have been given a post of light duty because of his standing as a celebrity. But that wasn't the point. After he won the gold medal in the Olympics he discovered quickly that all things were not equal on the home front. He was a national hero but still couldn't eat at certain restaurants or drink from certain water fountains, for example. He questioned why he would have to fight for a country that wouldn't support his civil rights. He willingly gave up this coveted world title and his means of making a living for 3 1/2 years, his prime years, in order to protest the inequalities. There was a lot of hostility. But then the war quickly became very unpopular. Others were questioning its value and purpose. Soon it fell apart. Ali was vindicated in court and was allowed to fight again. He found that he still had some skills but the quickness was waning as age crept in. Ali adapted and became one of the most intelligent fighters in the ring. I believe George Foreman said it best when he noted that Ali wasn't a hard puncher, but he was consistently on the mark and had great stamina. He took you into the deep end of the pool and drowned you. Also, he showed unusual compassion a number of times in the ring. If an opponent was obviously unable to protect himself, Ali would try and wave the referee to stop the bout. He said he wasn't interested in beating anyone into unconsciousness and potential brain damage. After he regained the title from the seemingly invincible Foreman, he became a superhero to many. Getting old, he lost the title to Leon Spinks only to regain it later. A 3 time world champion!! It became clear though that Ali's timing was off and his words were slurring. Parkinson's was taking over and yet he still was able to outbox most. When he finally retired, this former draft dodger was called upon to be an ambassador for the US. So recognized and respected around the world was he that other country's leaders welcomed him with open arms and he was able to gain the release of hostages and smooth out other adversarial situations. He spent the rest of his years donating massive sums of money to charities, visiting hospitals (especially children), and many other such duties as long as his health held out. (I wrote this up because I can't believe you guys don't know much about Muhammad and, quite frankly, he's worth it)

Peak Ali was displayed in the Nov 1966 fight against Cleveland "Big Cat" Williams. Williams was by then an over-the-hill 33 yo boxer who just the year before was shot in the abdomen by a highway policeman and almost died. At his prime, "Big Cat" was a fierce power puncher wrecking havoc in the heavyweight division much like the great Charles 'Sonny" Liston before Ali came to the scene.

At his prime, the fastest heavyweight with both feet and hands. Ali was a freak of nature man. He did everything the experts said a boxer shouldn't do and won anyway. To this day there hasn't been a heavyweight who moved like him.

To not know of Ali is flabbergssting. You two appear as a couple of stand up guy's, but seriously, not to know Ali? The man was voted as the the Sports Personality of the Century by the British puplic. This is a country 3000 miles from your nearest border. The Man is Great not just because of what he did in the ring, in fact but what he did out of it. The Man is a God of Sport, of life and emancipation, of the mind and soul. Please take time to learn on Ali, and why if you called him Clay, he would mercilessly beat the shit out if each of you just like he did to
Ernie Terrell, it is not pretty. Please learn a little more, or share a little less. Love to all humans Ian.
