It started as a "simple" ride along story, as a follow up to our October 2020 podcast with LAPD Deputy Chief Tingirides. However, it turned into something much more. Follow the As Not Seen on TV team through some of LA’s deadliest streets and neighborhoods - Watts, Nickerson Gardens and Jordan Downs. Sergeant Rodriguez reveals a tragic story of Sean Reynolds, a 17 year-old honor student who was shot trying to sell his PS5.
Our team explores the hard reality of law enforcement officials having to face split second, unique type of pressures every day. As normal civilians, we try to understand those pressures and sometimes we even make quick judgements about what the officer COULD have done or SHOULD have done differently. Could we do better? Would we make a different choice? It’s an easy game to play - from the comfort of our couches.
We’ve seen horrible, gut wrenching stories of people like George Floyd, Amadou Diallo, Andre Hill and many other black lives that were taken from those who were sworn to “protect and serve”. What about the stories of the police going beyond the call of duty? Could it be that the media has no real interest or audience for the positive stories of the police and community working together for the greater good? Stories like the one of Sean Reynolds - who says he owes his very survival to the LAPD.

So many people play the victim role so they can have excuses for their poor choices in life. Sean actually was a victim, but if he wasn't in a hospital gown you wouldn't know it. That kid is inspirational and hes going to be extremely successful in life. I hope he makes a full recovery.

Fabulous piece. Sean is so inspirational. He’s going far in life with many successes. LAPD Southeast Division as well all other LAPD Divisions are doing the right things in policing. Keep it up.

100% true in what is said regarding the countless men and women in law enforcement who do the right thing, the heroic thing day in and day out every day. The brave and outstanding men and women who do the right thing far outweigh the bad apples in law enforcement. Sadly, good officers are not the narrative for today's society. Good officers don't allow justification for all the anti-law enforcement groups and people out there.

Just as people are misunderstood, cops are misunderstood, their are good and evil in the human race, so expect it in every area and profession. Most people are good. So most cops are good. "We shouldn't miss the beauty of the Forrest just because of the ugliness of a few of its trees".

A story perfectly presented so well done Sir.
If you have any personal feelings about the Police you didn’t show it.
You delivered a biased free documentary.
Nearly every story on this issue gets told by the reporter/news organisations as either pro Police or anti Police.
Your story showed perfectly that there are unfortunately some terrible Police who commit serious crime and should be given the harshest of penalties… However the vast majority of Police are professional, caring and brave men and woman.

I mean i think the bank robbery test would have been justified, dude just commited a violent felony then charged you, you dont know if hes armed or not, its either you or him at that point
