Very nice! Character staves seem to be more common than the perfect straight staves so learning to tiller them is key. Tiller looks good and a fun bow to shoot!
Świetna robota! Masywny, estetyczny i bardzo tradycyjny, a to wszystko z poczciwej leszczyny :D Jedna z bardziej trafiających do mnie prac w kategorii: longbow!!
@@DreamcraftBows well, if it works it works. I'd keep my eyes open for compression damage though just in case... For some easy to get European wood that can take deep profiles without problems I'd suggest cornus (dogwood, hartriegel in German). Had very good results with that year's ago, everything from flat as a plank to deep D profiles). Thanks for fixing me on to bowmaking again🙏
@@DreamcraftBows Correct. But if you don't go for a D shape like you would with an ash longbow, you can make pretty decent hazel longbows. The belly needs to be about 1/4th broader than the back, more like a trapezoid shape. That makes the compressed part stronger.
That's so interesting. 3 questions...What is the heat treatment for? What was the diameter of the hazel tree you started with? Do you insert an arrow pass? Thanks
That tillering is... wow. You're a true master
Thank you my friend! Doing my best!
Considering that character in the upper limb that tiller looks great! Very satisfying to watch!
Thank you my friend! Did my best
Looks beautiful, I'd love to see your interpretation of some of the viking age bows like the Hedeby or Ballinderry ones
Glad you liked it! Thank you for suggestion. Those are interesting bows for sure

Thank you my friend! Yes, they teach us a lot. Appreciate your comment!

Dziękuję za dobro słowo!!!
That is a very good looking bowl. And it looks to be completely safe thank you
Thank you, appreciate it!
That is a pretty deep profile for a piece of hazel. You're a brave man😅
Excellent work👍
Yes, it's not the best design for hazel wood. Thank you!

Awesome work, love archery!
Thanks 💪
Absolutely excellent work
Thank you, appreciate it!
I enjoy your videos dude... Perhaps throw in the fps at the end. That would be awesome!
Thanks bro! Unfortunetely I have no arrows to match and test all of my bows
Beautiful longbow! How does Hazel wood compare to Yew Wood, is the performance about the same? Thanks for sharing!
Thank you my friend! No doubts yew is far better wood for a longbow. Hazel tends to have compression issues

Awesome bow. What did you use for string and did you paint it with something?
Splendid stuff, I have a 69" piece of hazel to work on in April. 👍
Good luck!
Hazel; how does it shoot, brother?? I build a longbow from hickory and deer antlers once; very stiff, but fun to shoot!!
Shoots sweet! Wow sounds great, deer antler is very cool finish material!
Nice work!
Thank you!
That's so interesting. 3 questions...What is the heat treatment for?
What was the diameter of the hazel tree you started with?
Do you insert an arrow pass?
Thanks
Heat treatment improves performance. The diameter was like 3". I glue it on the bow
Great. Would love to see it done with the tools used in the past-agincourt
💪💪
Didn't hazel chrysal on the belly? Mine wrinkled like hell when I tried a D shape cross section instead of inflated rectangle
Just a little bit, I was surprised. Yeah hazel D bows tend to have compression issues
what's the benefit of the two years seasoning?
Some bowyers say that slowly dried wood is better for bowmaking. Two years seasoning let it go slowly
How fast?
I haven't measured but seems decent
Do you sale longbows like this on your website bub
Hazle don't grow here wear I'm at that bow is a beauty bi the way
Yes such bows also will be available stay tuned
