Fishing is more than simply catching fish. I would like to believe that even if you don’t catch fish the video will still be good to watch. Seeing new waters and areas are awesome to see along with a short brief description about the stream helps teach those who watch.

For me, just being in the high country on a stream fishing for trout was always a great day. If the fish were biting enough to be fun, then it was an even better day. Either way, it was impossible to be "skunked." You are living the life, Tristan.

There's so much more to fish'n then just catch'n. Yeah, i know some folks wanna see catches, big catches yet i suspect that many of your viewers appreciate scenery and the challenges each water presents and how you fish it.
    Not catching has lessons too...
    Insane scenery, Again!
Thanks for reminding me I need to replace waders, boots, socks, fly rod and a Tenkara I only fished once. They got sucked outta my cargo box . I learned that 65 mph headwind and 45 mph cross winds can open a cargo box. Who knew....

I’m one of the few people who watch your content for the Background and scenery. The fishing is awesome and the catches are pretty cool too. But if you put up a couple skunks or like the spot you did earlier when your not happy with the quality. Definitely not trying to tell you how your channel should be but maybe one of those asmr or one with no speaking once in a while. You channel and I enjoy the content no matter what. Thank you for sharing your neat adventures bud.

That was indeed an unusual creek - but pretty awesome, to be sure! I always enjoy the new waters you share, but can completely identify with the quandary you described: the adventure of the new vs the reliability of known waters. Your videos are top notch, and greatly appreciated!

This looks like the creek outside of Taos, NM. Where the canyon the creek runs through was not carved by the creek but is actually where the tectonic plates are separating causing a canyon and the creek flowed down into it because it was the lowest elevation it could flow into. Cool

Nice spot, those are beautiful fish... I love those weird little creeks... we are flooded all over the state,Yellowstone park is CLOSED till further notice, the workers bunkhouse went into the river today, this is gonna be a bad year for fishing in Montana (but, when it DOES dry up,I'll be out there)

Really like your comment about the conflict of fishing new waters to find out something new vs. areas you already know. In business that IS the conflict. Keep seeking the new, the old gets stale.

Regarding you contemplation of fishing the known vs the unknown, as others have mentioned and i would reinforce, is that part of the enjoyment of watching your adventures is just that. The adventure. Seeing the places you get to and vicariously being there too is part of the draw. Just like with SUVRVing.
You will always have some complainers but most will enjoy the exploration. Fish or no fish.

Nice creek. Sort of reminds me of sections of the Chazy river in Upper NY. I used to jump from rock to rock for half a mile and not even get my feet wet. I think I would only do what you just did if it was in California searching for the rare golden trout. Otherwise I'd be putting every one of your fish in a krill for dinner. They taste amazing fried in oil with flour and butter. Bones and all. Awesome vid bro.

I have / had the exact same struggle. I can fish and make a video of the same few places i know i can catch fish or i can try new rivers and lakes where I have never fished before.
I was reluctant a few weeks ago to post a video of me striking out on a beautiful river system i never fished before. Talked to a few people and decided to release it anyways. I was very surprised at the feedback I got both in private chats and in person from people that watched it. They said it was refreshing to see a "somewhat normal day of fishing". And a few people were actually in disbelief i didn't catch anything in the river i was fishing and thought I edited it all out for another video later on lol.

I like to see the new places and struggles that are involved when fishing a new place. If you fish a familiar spot maybe a diff size rod or season. Now if you'd only share your spots to people local hint hint lol. No I understand why you don't it's more about trying new locations and having the area to yourself.

Interesting stream with lots of variation, thank you for sharing this with us. Do have one question: at a spot tight with rocks you talked about how it would be better to use a shorter rod. The Dragontail Mizuchi is a zoom rod and you could’ve zoomed down from the 11 foot. Why wasn’t that an option?

    • @bobcatethan8919
      @bobcatethan8919 Рік тому

I apologise asking this here as I'm convinced you'd have gone into the technical aspects of Tenkara in other videos but, apart from traditional reasons, how is this different from dry fly flyfishing or, if you use a subsurface fly, Euronymphing? Clearly you don't have the benefit of the same degree of tactile feedback with those methods as you're not in direct communication with the line. I'm assuming there aren't many options to add complexity to this style either. Not knocking it, just trying to understand it more.
