Hello Cyrus. Just discovered your page and UA-cam channel. Just watched your video on Malbecs from 2017. I'm just getting into wine seriously for the first time and I've been doing research and reaching out to wine experts for brand suggestions. When I was younger I drank mostly Cabernet and Merlot, but I'm wanting to try somewhat sweeter and less tannic wines. A wine sommelier named Madeline Puckette recommended Spanish Garnacha, Austrailian Shiraz, Zinfandel and Primitivo. I have a small collection so far- 3 bottles- a French Pinot Noir called Ropiteau, an Italian Primitivo and a California Zin. I've been gathering brand suggestions for Malbecs. Two I got so far are Amalaya from Argentina and Clos Triguedina from France. Can you suggest some other good entry level choices, in the 8-13 dollar range? I never realized how many wine varietals there are out there. Essentially I'd like to eventually try all the major ones. Never had Bordeaux before either. If you can recommend a Bordeaux and a Garnacha too that would be great, or any other types you suggest. Thank you for your help. I live in southern New Jersey just outside of Philly. Cheers! -Jim

Hi Jim! Hope you've had a look at a few Southern Italian wines :)

Not yet but soon. Just started educating myself on all the different Italian types. Just watched a good 3-part series. 'Discover' with Michael Fagan. Sicily/southern Italy, central and northern. Very informative. ua-cam.com/video/K269V58Bx6w/v-deo.html
I learned one thing- I probably won't be buying any Barolos or Brunellos! Those northern wines are expensive! I may be sticking with Sicily, Campania, Puglia and Tuscany! :) But that's ok. Plenty of choices. Thank you again!

jastew71 just one thing that’s important (in my opinion). Looking at wine based on price isn’t a good approach.
The experience you get is just different. A bit like a car, you can love say an Audi and get great pleasure in the details, the feel, the look etc.
A supercar then definitely does look “expensive” in comparison on price alone... BUT the experience is just unbelievable.
Will you be able to drive the supercar to its full? And appreciate every superior detail? Maybe not...
But, you will get an unbelievable experience.
      If you can... do!

So what you're saying is, if at all possible, even if it's down the road a but, to definitely try some really good wines? I can appreciate that, because I'm sure the experience is truly amazing. I was looking up wine prices just out of curiosity while I was watching the documentary. When I searched for Biondi Santi Brunello I was like wow.. a $500 bottle of wine. But I know that's nothing compared to others that are thousands and thousands :)
If it's something I can ever do i definitely will.

@@jastew1971 Indeed, those are amazing experiences.. and if you can now and again, then, definitely, do!
