    Pretty cool. I just ordered one of these for my classroom next Semester. Maybe I will do a video with it, showing the coding aspect.

    Sphero products are really neat, but be aware the rechargeable battery is inside the sealed unit and not designed to be replaced so once it goes bad you are stuck with an expensive paperweight. My BB-8 stopped fully charging and the company said there was nothing they could do after the 1 year warranty. Then doing an internet search it seems it is not a rare problem, some people have had the battery go bad not long after the warranty was up, so if you buy it do so realizing it MIGHT stop working as soon as under 2 years.

      Actually, there are repair kits for that specific issue
      They give you a new shell and battery, along with the special glue that holds it together
      It DOES require you to break the old shell though, you have to be careful as not to break an electronic inside

      @@TheOldTelephone Thanks, I appreciate you letting me know, I'm thinking that repair kit might not have been available about 4 years ago when I asked the company as I don't remember them offering me any such solution back then. I'll consider it if the cost of the repair kit is reasonable, but first I'd need to open it up to make sure the old battery inside did not corrode any of the electronics, thanks again !

    I don't wanna hate on this, but I really don't understand what Sphero is or what it's supposed to do.
    There's better programming kit things, and much better remote control toys. Is it the combination of the two that's appealing?

      No dedicated remote - you have to use a phone/tablet. And hah, it's tough, but I don't know if it's baseball tough... - Dom

      Ah yeah, forgot to show this! There's a magnetic setup so it can automatically detect the phone/tablet and turn towards it. It's handy, but honestly not much quicker - it's not a game changer - Dom

  • @nizexlizzy
    @nizexlizzy 5 років тому +1

    Too bad you didn't attempt to contact support or actually program the thing to do anything. The company selling the product has no technical support that I've been able to communicate with despite people answering the phone that have zero knowledge of their products. The sensors don't work properly, they have terrible documentation and examples, no way I see to access in real time the sensor data and did I mention no technical support? They can't even detect when the unit hits a wall at full speed most of the time. Too expensive and a remote control car would be far more fun for far less money. I purchased it for my son to learn to program on and they have no return policy. Terrible product in my opinion. Could be great though, if only.

    how easily you promise as if you know people might play the flick and stuff. but the casual way you promise so easily is the real worry i have for the younger people, you are all not trust worthy. I don't know what kind of a society this will create, atleast we in the "3rd World" are not this.
