  • Aquarius is a fountain lamp that manipulates water in ways that seemingly defy reality.
Become mesmerized by watching a stream of water bend, change colors, freeze in place, rise upwards, split off into multiple streams, and even display effects such as volcanic lightning or the Northern Lights!
Created for all those who appreciate the beauty of the union of art & science, Aquarius seeks to create a new visual sensory experience and eventual scientific curiosity for all users.

Saw this over on the FastLED forum. This is just stunning. There aren't enough polished, well-designed, products out there that take advantage of individually addressable LEDs. I'm aiming to change that with project videos like my Rings of Saturn light, but this takes it to a whole new level. You can count me in for the Kickstarter campaign.

So, DUDE! Where's the Lamp?... I'd buy it Now! I tried to BUY it yesterday & the Buy Now button took me down a rabbit hole WHERE THERE WERE NO LAMPS. This is a BRILLIANT IDEA. I show hope you get this launched!

      Hi Wall of Fire,
You can actually order it on my website at northern-circuits.ca. They are hand-made to order and take roughly 2-3 weeks to finish. I've shipped out over 200 of them around the globe already to fantastic feedback.

    From kickstarter page:
Aquarius is built with 60 individually addressable LED lights. By varying a portion (or all) of these LEDs at a frequency range of 75-100 Hz against a synchronized and vibrating stream of water, we can create "snapshots" or "frames" of the water at various places in time. A set of these "frames" can form an illusion of an animation. The animated water appears to bend, freeze, slow down, rise upwards, or even split into multiple streams. By applying different LED colors, Aquarius can create even more mesmerizing displays such as gradient layering, multi colored streams, and more.

    Stephen,
I've been looking at buying one of your Aquarius units for awhile. They're a work of art.
I need to know if you can hear the sound of the water flowing? How frequently does the tank need to be refilled with water? Does it come with any kind of warranty? What is your return policy? How long is the production time after ordering?
    Thank you! 😀

Hi Michael, the water sound can be heard but its not obnoxiously loud. I would liken it to those zen desktop water fountains you see at retro Chinese restaurants or spas/yoga studios. The tank refill actually depends on your climate and environment. A dry environment would necessitate more frequent fill ups while a humid one you can go on for weeks. In my temperate zone, on average, I fill up once every 3-4 weeks.
The warranty is a year but because I do it all myself, I'm pretty flexible on that. Unfortunately as I handmake each order, there is no return. But as mentioned, I am extremely flexible on the unit should anything go wrong. Outside of the warranty, I can repair any issue encountered but in if parts are broken, they do incur a cost replace (roughly 10-20 USD for the circuit board which is the most common one).
The production time is 5-7 weeks. Most of the time is spent on the polyurethane finishing. As I don't use an industrial oven to bake it, I have to hand apply each layer and then let it cure/dry. The curing/drying for each layer is 24-48 hours, and I apply 12-15 layers total. Outside of that extremely long process, there is the CNC cutting of the wood frames, the sanding, there is the hand soldering of the circuit board, the installation, and finally the testing.

They're over 300 dollars?! That's madness! You can get a massive lava lamp, a giant artificial luminescent jellyfish aquarium, or a volcano lamp from Hammacher Schlemmer for much less.

You're wouldn't be getting anywhere near the spectacle with some shitty fake jellyfish aquarium or pellets shooting out of a lame LED fish tank decoration volcano.

God if I had one of these and got stoned I would burn with the house if it caught on fire I wouldn't be able to take my eyes off it.
