It’s going to take a lot more than just Wiggins to get Cameron Johnson. And losing players over a shooting slump is not smart long term. OKC is the best defense in the league. And the reason why is they have no defensive liabilities in their rotation.
@ losing our bench does not positively affect us. And that’s what it will take to get him. The Nets know how to get more than they give up. Don’t be an Ishbia. And fall for their trap.
It’s not a slump though. It’s the fact every aspect of his game has taken a step back, and he’s continuing to lose minutes to the point he only goes in when it’s a for sure victory or loss. What service does he have then?

Ah yeah. I don't love this scenario TBH. I'd rather keep the assets & young players, wait for Chet to get back before I do a deal like this. Yeah, Wiggins' mins aren't going to get greater, but he's still a solid part of the rotation & what we do. We can win a championship with this team now without sacrificing some of our future to do so. Cam is $22 Mill / YR & we don't even know if he would start. Starting Cam would bring Dort or I Hart to the bench when Chet/All are healthy. I'd much rather I Hart play than Cam. I worry that OKC is going to move I Hart to the bench anyway, & I hate the idea. We trade Joe before Wiggins. Wiggins has showed us 3 years of consistently being an amazing role player for us. He’s our Jerami Grant of this iteration of this Thunder. Joe has unfortunately showed his inconsistency is consistent, he could give you 19 one game and 3 the next. He’s starting to enter theoretical shooter territory like Lindy Waters was for us. A shooter that can’t shoot. I don’t want to trade either because they are so good for the locker room and was more willing to trade Caruso before them but if we gotta go with one its Joe and Dieng for Cam Johnson
Joe has been better off the bench than Wiggins. Pretty sure I did a video over that. This whole season it looks like Wiggs took a step back defensively, and now against contending teams he’s been playing bad. These next two weeks will prove if he is traded or not though.
@ I just think Wiggins defensively has shown he can guard the others teams 1-4, offensively he can do it all. He’s shown that since he first touched the floor in a Thunder uniform. Joe on the other hand can guard 2-3 solidly but wouldn’t trust him on a PG. Then offensively he’s made strides to be a better all around offensive player but not to the level of Wiggins. But again I don’t want to break this team up but if we have to I would start with Dieng, Jones and Joe first. (Carlson is gone either way)

Dieng isn't going anywhere because Presti is waiting to see if Dieng is gonna surpass Jaylin; with an added Hartenstein and Chet coming back, Jaylin is expendable. Presti will have to offer picks in addition to WIlliams to get him off the books.
yeah I also made this before he started going on a tear haha. Think all he needed was a trip home. He has made me swallow my words. Joe though, oh Joe now I have some words.
@ThunderDigestYT Joe has been cold recently. But Wiggins and Joe's contracts are about 1/2 of what Cam Johnson is making this year. The Thunder have only lost 2 games when they had one of their bigs. What if they had both all season?! I'd ride with what they have. Dieng is the only asset who hasn't really contributed a lot, and he's not enough to trade for a player worth taking a chance on ruining the chemistry they've shown this year.
@ThunderDigestYT As I said when you're in 1st place I'm not trading my best 3 point shooter because he's streaky and went cold for a minute. His floor is too high to take a chance on someone who might throw off the chemistry in my opinion.
I don't think that they would take only Wiggins for Cam. If so, thats a steal. I know they're having a fire-sale in Brooklyn though, so its also certainly not out of the question. Cam also costs more, which could be an issue in the future for OKC. I really dont want to make any trades , not for our players or picks. But to me, Wiggins or Joe are the only ones I'd even consider, & it would have to clearly favor us & would have to bring in more shooting.
I’d hate to see wigs go but his production is not what it has been as of recently. Trading him along with assets like ousmane or kenrich with some draft capital could get us cam Johnson though which would give us some much needed consistency behind the three point line and a good scoring option for a second unit if Shai or jdub go to the bench.
EXACTLY! Like I am not hating on him, I still love Wiggs. HE SAVED BASKETBALL!!! However if a trade with him in it helps win a championship, it needs to be done. It’s a business, and you cannot let emotions stop business.
@ThunderDigestYT I hope we don't have to trade Ousmane Dieng. The Ajay Mitchell effect has made Joe and Wiggins expendable. Adam Flagler could get either of those two minutes.
@@wolfbane610 I would understand putting Joe in the package. Love him too obviously but I feel he’s been in a slump and cam Johnson would be an upgrade with his three point shooting which would offset what we lose with Joe.
The odd part of this whole scenario is that, Presti could've traded those same picks with Giddey for a Cam Johnson type player this off-season. Instead he got back a guy who's only 10th on the team in production, overpaid him almost double what his counterparts are getting, and now has to cough up more talent who are on more team friendly deals, to get back the kind of guy back they should've went after from the jump. And the fact they are looking for that same kind of player they needed from the jump, means the addition of Caruso fixed absolutely 0 of the team's needs. Unless Caruso was added just to increase the tradable assets moving forward, it's a head scratcher.
The rotations have been pretty much nonsensical this year and you can make the same argument about Caruso, Joe, Dort, Wallace, etc. as they've all been pretty inconsistent. Caruso has had a ton of absolutely terrible games where he's pretty much nonexistent yet he just signed for 80 million dollars. I think Wiggins is the best out of all of our shooting guards and when he's getting consistent minutes that's been the case.
@@ThunderDigestYT Did you support giving Roberson 40 million? They've got 5 guys exactly like Caruso (6 if you include Topic) and he's the worst offensively out of all of them plus he's 30 years old. There will almost assuredly be a decline in his play from his age within the timeframe of this contract. I like some things that he does for sure but he's not remotely worth that much money...not even close just like Roberson wasn't.
@@Kylekyleusn I actually watched the team when they had Roberson and I saw the utter futility of paying a one way defensive wing and it ultimately cost OKC a championship. You're only as good as your weakest link and the Warriors beat OKC because they were able to use Roberson's defender as a free safety to double Russ and KD since he didn't need to be guarded. Caruso hasn't been a problem yet but what matters is the playoffs. If he goes out there and plays 25 minutes with 2 points on 1-7 shooting like he's done many times so far they're going to get beat. Mark it down.
@joeldriver-sp2rg I have been a Thunder fan since '08, so I remember Roberson well. Caruso is nowhere near what Roberson was as a shooter. Caruso has only had a rough start to the season. The team is also in a different position than they were. $20 million, with all these picks the Thunder will not be able to take, is a great contract to package if a perfect player presents itself. If Caruso comes back to an average shooter, like he has recently, the contract will serve its purpose.
So a recent acquisition, like Caruso who just signed a major extension and does exactly what Wiggs does and is a much better defender? Like I said in the video, throw away emotions. If we can truly get someone better, we have to. End of story.
