I am from Uttarakhand and travelled to 8-9 states in India. Travelled to remote location with family and kid. The only bad experience I have was in a place just 20 km from my hometown. Not saying people are bad but few bad apples. And these kinds of word spread very fast

From -26C to +40C, we have been camping in Canada in the remotest and dense forests but there are still organized campgrounds in those places if you don't want to go backcountry. People mostly follow the law, no loud talking, no loud music, no honking and no unnecessary lights. We really want to camp at some places in India but I see a clear lack of respect for nature which is very sad because India is sooo beautiful.

Well explained. My suggestion, govt must promote Private camp grounds where everything you mentioned can be fixed. But in all private campgrounds, they're charging more money as they're offering package only option that includes dirty tents, blankets, food and activities. If you want to pay only for ground they don't allow you to pitch your own tents. Finally, I Saw many Indians when they're in abroad they don't litter but when they come to India they do, this culture is mixed up in their blood.

Rightly said, we Indians don't deserve camping. Highway, city roads everyday we see people thowing, splitting all around. And then we all blame govt kuch kaam nahi karti. Problem is we the people of India. Hats off mate, at least some people will get further educated with this and maybe our children might njoy camping in future

The frustrating part is that nothing works in India: the city, the bureaucracy, the police, the state- to even go out in the wilderness and set up a camp is not possible. What is the point of this country? Waste of land and resources.

  • @adityajoies

Agree, I was wondering how is the camping scene in India. But it is also true that unlike many other countries you can have things that no other country provides. Like for example, backpacking with very limited budget, transportation to almost all places using public transport or even accommodations both ultra budget and expensive luxury hotels. Can you recommend places outside of India which has a great camping scene? Not like US or Canada but something budget friendly. I've heard of Vietnam not sure how safe it is though.

You nailed it in a precise logical way about camping in India. Except for Leh and Spiti one Rarely finds an uninhabited place. Its a fact. Keeping all this in mind better to do overlanding trips by staying in hotels, specially if one is travelling with family.

But ... when U R with Family (Ladies + Children ).... why should U take risk to spend over night at unknown spot or camp... U can spend any Natural Spots up to late evening ... and Back near by village or small cities ... where spend night ...And ... again visit same or other spots if u wish ... This is absolutely foolish decision when U travel with Family and decide to camp to stay there where nobody near..

  • @funnybee8555

Brother swear ,my entire family tries not to put garbage anywhere on road or in garden or any place but the problem is when you have wet garbage along with you that drips liquid ,you need to throw it somewhere and our dear politician's who talk about Swatch Bharat don't find the necessity of installing garbage bins even in highly populated places ... If you have travelled abroad every 500 metre you will find a garbage bin , however in India you need to walk 2 to 3 km in crowded places and 10 km in isolated places to find a garbage bin. keep your hand on your heart and be honest don't you think it's unfair from politician's side by not installing them and just by giving cleanliness speech using telemropter won't be the solution.... You can't carry wet garbage you have to throw them somewhere as it stinks in a while. Sorry but seriously this country doesn't give good vibes with locacuous politics and fallacious government promises.

To a great extent its true. But whats more amazing is, people saying waah waah on this video and crying to be indian are the same people who through cigeratte buds on street, spit gutka everywhere, enjoy panipuri and throw plates allaround....
Etc etc and few extraordinary justify the act saying we pay cleaning tax.
A country is glorified by the act of its people.
Rather crying ,we need to improve ourselves. Respect people, animal and nature. Keep yourself(physically and mentally) and your environment clean.
Just doing these 2 things, alot of issues will be auto resolved...

As being an Anthropologist I got the opportunity to travel to many places in Tribal India and always wondered why there is so little on UA-cam. I tried to explore and came to know that political situation and unethical practices of govt officials make it very hard for people to explore outside their own state. The forest law and the friction between local people and officials is so high that if you go into those locations then you are 1000% in danger. Moreover, the law is silent on these issues and you are on the mercy of local police. I advise people not to go alone or with thier families.

Bhai @AB Ventures bohot sensitive and important point discuss kiya bro aap ne. Due respect for the the insight I too had a bad experience as such which completely unexpected where, people fined ₹7000 to us early morning while we were travelling in a friend group, bhai paise toh nai diye jhagda hua. Thoda zyada jhagda hua aur police bhi aayi but, we left smiling abiding the law lawfully. But I was scared to think about such an instance if I had had been with my family. We actually need to form an organisation or a authoritative body setting up rules to punish and stand up for the campers and tourists. Regardless the fact we do have Tourism Management Ministers who are either home sick or have no idea about actual tourism concepts, thus a body standing for campers and individual tourists is a mandate in a country like ours where we have 465 people/sq km, where we are more scared of people than animals.

Bhai ... India is a big country. There are so many remote places. Camping ka matlab yeh nahi ki koi remote jagah pe kho jaana hai. And safe?? Well shayad safe kahi bhi nahi hota....par wahi tho maja hai.

Very True.. Camping Concept Is Not In India.. I don't think.. it would come in near future.. But.. Yes.. There are very Few Locations in India were open plots with toilets / bath with basic safety are provided.. But.. Just Like We have "AirBnb".. people who own open plots or bungalows or farm houses.. should come up with Camping concepts.. also these owners would get a small side income and "Very important".. we as campers / tourists and property owners can have a "Very Cooooool" and "Friendly" Atmosphere.. also we would get to know interesting facts of that or near by Locations and owners can also get to know us and our past joy full experience.. But.. now.. I prefer to stay in my caravan and parked in a resort / hotel / govt guest house "Back Yards".. we're we cook local recipes with locals.. And "ENJOY"..

Very true, we Indians are in sorry state to enjoy privilege of open camping in wild, except some remote northern Himalayan regions, We are almost inspired and eager of camping experience from Western countries like US/Canada and even Australia . As of now either we can enjoy safe camping in organised camps by resorts or stay in eco-Farms..

Very unfortunate reality... That said, camping is still possible in India... In some very specific situations.

I think a Request by all like minded people shall be made to tourism dept in india to earmark some area near a city with water /electricity, toilets, food courts exclusively for camping.

locals trouble the campers even if its not their land they feel entitled to take money from us. the moment they see some camper or tourist they just ask for money for stupid reasons.

Superb insight on the harsh reality, all wat u said is unfortunately true. Even the local villagers act smart if we randomly set up a tent, these day we need to take permits from local village authorities along with tbe police, best way is to carry your own tent and like you said set it up on a resort property, its more safer...
