  • Pump turned out to be 21 years old, judging by the iron deposits hadn't been out since installation

Nice work, I'm pulling mine tomorrow. It failed and I was thinking I would use my age to wimp out and just pay someone. Local company sent a guy out and he wrote me an estimate for $8000. They claim they won't warranty anything unless they replace everything from the pump to the pressure tank. I thanked him for the visit and am feeling a lot younger now. We shall see how I feel tomorrow night. New pump and fittings cost me less than $500. A friend said he would come help. I can pay him $500 and still be miles ahead.

Brave and strong man, congrats! I almost lost mine years ago, now I do this kind of jobs for a living, with some ad hoc tools and working in pairs. Cheers!!!

Good Job!!! Better than the part of a movie where you cheer! People like you either don't have friends or MOST likely, have plenty of friends because we just don't want to ask them to help because we don't want to subject them to our insanity. I'll try to post the results of my issue with a 200' deep pump that has appeared to have failed and my reluctance to spend the $1,400 to have a pro replace it.

I pulled one from 75ft long and its some work, but did have a person to lay the pipe out as I pulled up. Mine was PVC pipe so you can't bend it to much and have to be carefull.
I put new pipe on and pump and it works great. Next time Im going to put that flex pipe on.

You wouldn't think it was that heavy, but the damn thing gets heavier. Cross fit could use this as a full body exercise.

Ahhh...why didn't you attach it to the Subaru, get someone to drive it very slowly while you guided the pipe/pump out? Make the vehicle do the work for you.
