One of my favorite childhood memories was eating pizza while my dad was sleeping in the same room and switching through the channels and stumbling onto this absolute classic!
The perfect way to watch it - Andy H
The X-Files episode “Ice” is a 45 minute love-letter to The Thing. It’s a great bit of TV but I wish I’d seen the movie first. Same with The Shining episode of The Simpsons…
I don't think I've ever seen that episode of Xfiles, I'll have to check it out! - Andy H
Great movie and effects for the time
I have to admit horror and to be specific body horror was never my thing and still really isn't, but I first watched this movie maybe 20 years ago and really hated it. Now though I have come to really enjoy horror and specifically the body horror of Carpenter and Cronenburg. I don't know though if part of it is reading articles, and "think pieces" of these types of movies and watch analysis videos of them as well! I like to think that my movie brain has just evolved, and it just took me 40 years to appreciate the genre. I must say that this film is just amazing. I cannot wait until next week lads, great job as always. Take care and have an amazing week!
It's a special day when you revisit something that previously didn't click. I'd love to do an episode discussing some of the films Andy and I had that experience with, could be a lot of fun! - Andy H
Classic movie - and the 2011 prequel is damn good too!
I still haven't seen the 2011 film, maybe we should tackle it in for Film Club at some point! - Andy H
