  • Hutchinson is the largest city and county seat in Reno County, Kansas, United States, and located on the Arkansas River. It has been home to salt mines since 1887, thus its nickname of "Salt City", but locals call it "Hutch". As of the 2010 census, the city population was 42,080.
Each year, Hutchinson hosts the Kansas State Fair, and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Basketball Tournament. It is the home of the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center aerospace museum and Strataca (formerly known as Kansas Underground Salt Museum).
The city of Hutchinson was founded in 1871, when frontiersman Clinton "C.C." Hutchinson contracted with the Santa Fe Railway to make a town at the railroad's crossing over the Arkansas River. The town actually sprang up about one-half mile north, on the banks of Cow Creek, where a few houses already existed. C.C. Hutchinson later founded the Reno County Bank in 1873, and by 1878 had erected the state's first water-mill at Hutchinson. The community earned the nickname "Temperance City" due to the prohibition of alcohol set by its founder. Hutchinson was incorporated as a third class city in August 1872.

We played them in Basket Ball in 1977 out of Haysville . I had a lot of fun in Kansas before I got bored and moved to LA and started living a productive life and earning money.

There's a green turn arrow at the bottom. We're law-abiding most of the time.

Please be careful. There's places there you don't want to go to especially at night. That's an extremely dangerous town, used to be an industry/railway hub now it's a drug infested ghetto with failing infrastructure and roads. I found out it's a transient dumping ground for larger cities.

Dude. There’s not one piece of trash or litter anywhere. Still run by fastidious Lutherans I see.

@@buddywayne1 Please, bro! I've been a victim of crime in that piece of sht town enough over the years that I moved out for that reason! The town is crawling with methheads. I've dealt with a hit and run in my own yard that destroyed my car and mailbox, several drug busts in the neighborhood, had a guy with two knives kidnapped a woman and the foot chase went right through my yard, and the police had their guns pointed right at my front door while taking him down. Had my cars broken into several times at different residences, also had my convertible roof slashed. Even been hit by a drunk driver while riding a bicycle on fourth Street. I could go on about that sht town. Don't tell me about what's false I've experienced it.

@@dougfisher1813 I find that people we surround ourselves with have a huge effect on what happens to us. I've lived here most of my life ( turned 65 last Monday) and I've found it to be a mostly pleasant place to live and raise a family. Reasonable cost of living, decent paying job, etc. Sorry you had that experience, but yours is not the norm, I assure you. I don't know where you lived, but my neighborhood is pretty decent.
