This is highly underrated. Every scene you just get more involved in this girl's story and you want to know more about her. Especially with the scene - with whom I assume is her mother - singing to her and then how you reflect that back to her present self. I had waited years for this moment... "Where the northern lights touch the mountains..." my mother's words played constantly through my mind. I was almost finally there. When I was a child, my mother and I lived a happy life in a viking city where everyone had dragons. One day, while mother and I were playing in the forest, we had found an orphaned, baby Lightfury. Lightfurys were thought to be extinct, but here she was. My mother and I knew we had to take care of her, so we brought her to our home and fed her. I decided to name her Tiger Lilly. "Where the northern lights touch the mountains..." my mother had told me, "that's were these beautiful dragons come from." I wanted to go there, I wanted to take Tiger Lilly there and maybe find more Lightfurys. My mother promised to take us. .........but she never did. A few weeks later, we were attacked by swarms of dragon trappers, who burned our homes, slaughtered our people, and took all of our dragons. My own mother died defending the dragons. And Tiger Lilly flew away without me. I was one of the only survivors of this massacre. Years have passed since then, and I've been searching for Tiger Lilly ever since. Maybe if we found each other, we could avenge my mother, and save all of the dragons being held captive! ....and maybe I would be so lonely anymore. "Where the northern lights touch the mountains..." I was here.
Imagine this was the Light Fury's backstory. Like, she had a rider, just like Toothless and Hiccup, and the Light Fury loved her, but then the girl's village got attacked by other humans and when Light Fury got to the village, she saw 'The Night Fury Killer' kill her rider, before getting caught by said guy to lure out Toothless in HTTYD 3: The Hidden World. That'd be interesting.
This is an beautiful piece of trust,compassion and freedom in this very moment from two different beings! This is gorgeous! I love how you managed to portray the relationship the girl and her dragon have and how much they trust eachother. The expressions were amazing as well!
I came up with a story line So this is actually the light fury from httyd 3 but a few years earlier. Tiger Lily's rider was like hiccup and would free dragons from hunters. Unfortunately after escaping their island after it fell to some bad guys (not sure who) they are shot down by the hunters in the beginning scene of httyd 3. Tiger Lily is unable to save her rider and so she drowns and the dragon is kept captive on the ship. Knowing how badly she failed, Tiger Lily becomes depressed and paranoid which leads her to hide herself when the dragon riders attack the hunters.
Just when I thought I have fallen out of this fandom,this completly saved me.somehow reminded me of everything and every little reason I love this fandom. Thank you so much,I dont know how I could've coped with the fact that my literal childhood wasnt bringing me any joy anymore. This is beautiful btw I love your artstyle ♡
This was literally so gorgeous. I love the reflection of the lights on both the girl and the light furyy, i love the build up to her jumping off the edge, the little throw to get the girl onto the light fury's back.. im so in love!!

So much improvement, god the way you do animatics and their composition is so pleasing. The anatomy and expression of the character and the way you used the expressed the wings. The movement of the dragon were also amazing, like damn.

Ive thought of the samee except mine's about a girl who finds her own village tribe from which she's separated from as a child and 'Show Yourself' fits so much! There are a couple of things that make your animation really nice ^^ like the reflections in her eyes, when she falls off the cliff, when they ride in front of the moon ^^ I LOVE IT
As far as self inserts go, basically there's nothing wrong with it, except that it's often just self-indulgence and wish fulfillment. Similar to the trope of "strong female characters" self-inserts have been tainted by them. Like if you use a self-insert it's way more interesting to show of a flaw or humanize them in anyway, cause if a character doesn't struggle of fail it just becomes boring.
i had chills the whole time watching this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was so awesome! the song fit well with the animation and how the relationship of the character and her dragon sparked.
