    Love the concept… I love the earthwise mower but to say they true for this work I will choose a massive mower like Hudson Star mower or the Falkestein mower from Alexander Rain in Germany… of course will be more expensive but will worth the effort… great job btw

      You think so? I'll admit I have trouble with this as it cuts paper across and I can move my reel with one hand. There is resistance now that it's attached to a motor, but it seems to be at the same tightness when it came out of the box.

    Was it fairly simple to install it? Also for backlapping, you don't need to take anything apart you just brush the compound on it and put it to backlap mode?

    • @houdavn
      @houdavn  Місяць тому +1

      It was very straightforward and simple to install, it's like assembling furniture and there are video instructions from RMM. It took me about 1.5 hours to do since I was working on a used reel so the bolts were well seated, but on a brand new one, it should take me less than an hour.
      Correct, no need to disassemble anything to backlap. You can lay the mower down or prop it up on a bench, put it to the reverse mode, and turn it on as you would on any backlapping.

    I missed out on the last preorder for this kit so I’m stuck on full manual with my Scott’s 18 but I did get the rear roller from ReelCNC. I wonder if one of these companies could make custom cnc billets for the mowers. Maybe like a mesh BBS style. Completely unnecessary but would be cool non the less.

      @@gamecock2465 “Mesh BBS”, a person of taste. That’s a very cool idea. The enclosed bracket helps with grass clippings, might be a difficult to clean like BBS wheels in the real world!

    Does the extra spaced wheel in front of the chain cover make the mower odd in any way?

    • @houdavn
      @houdavn  29 днів тому

      No issues at all with the movement or sturdiness of the unit. Like the grass catcher, the chain cover has a provision for the wheel spacer to slot in front of it.

    It's not bogging down cuz you're hardly cutting anything. 😂 Let's see a thick grown in cut. That battery removal looks a bit annoying. Was that because you were filming with one hand or is it banging up against the wheel like that all the time?

    • @houdavn
      @houdavn  Місяць тому +2

      (1) Battery removal can be better.
      - You can mount the battery connector in any orientation you like, I just matched what the instructions advised which was to align it with the frame.
      - It's also a 6.0Ah battery, so it's heavier to remove with just 1 hand and overkill for my yard as it still has a full charge after I finish mowing. RMM recommends no larger than 4.0Ah, but it doesn't affect the reliability.
      - I have the wheels mounted on the topmost hole of the frame which was the original hole/setting before the conversion. This means the wheel is higher than where it needs to go, so the reel can sit even lower. The install video advised the bottom hole, but I wanted to maintain my HOC as it was before the conversion. If using the wheels, I recommend to use the bottom hole and the battery would have no issue sliding in/out. Or, use the front roller and achieve a better cut and no battery clearance issues.
      (2) I was cutting at 50% of the allotted power in this video. Trust me, it doesn't bog. See my neighbor's yard in the video? I mowed that down to 1" when I first got the kit in June, so that was about 5" of bermuda and crabgrass. It's back to where it was before I tried cutting it as he hasn't cut it again or after the hurricane for several weeks. My EGO LM2114SP has trouble cutting his yard and would turn off if I tried cutting that down on the lowest setting FWIW.

      Yes, but it requires a completely different bracket that RMM also sells. The front bracket will allow you to adjust the height even easier and quicker.
