  • In this video I react to The Curse of the Spider by @Dreamcatcherofficial. This seems to be part symphonic metal/rock and part k-pop. I like it.

There is no band. The music is recorded, but the vocals are live. They replaced the music tracks from the concert with an updated version. They can't afford to take a live band with them when they tour. They have a live band when they perform in South Korea and they did several livestream concerts with a band during the Covid years. This is one of those concerts so you can get an idea of what they're like live. ua-cam.com/video/NHd0EFlSnJc/v-deo.html

Thank you for Dreamcatcher’s reaction. Dreamcatcher is a girl group that strives to bring rock elements into K-pop. I recommend Dreamcatcher’s Chase Me and Good Night. In particular, Good Night was covered by Rolling Quartz, which you probably know.

Thanks for checking out Dreamcatcher! The video for this MV was from their 7th anniversary concert in Seoul, earlier this year on January 13th. When they're performing, they don't typically have a live band with them. They're from a smaller company and the cost associated with paying and transporting a band would be prohibitive. The only time you're likely to see a band playing live with them is if they do a concert in Seoul, though, it's not a 100% guarantee. The audio for the clip appears to be from a studio recording instead of from the venue, which is disappointing as they sound fantastic live, and you get to hear them hyping up the crowd and crowd noises when they use the live audio. My guess is that they never planned to release this and so didn't record the audio from the concert in a way that would have made releasing it feasible.

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
This is a b-side that they remixed and added some more metal. Unfortunately they didn't use the live vocals for this, which I would have prefered. From the same album I would recommend the title track "Deja Vu". It is a great song, very different, and also has a great video.

Dreamcatcher has a song against the haters called Boca. A couple of other songs to consider are Good Night and Vision. For symphonic metal check our their Japanese releases: No More, Don't Light My Fire, Eclipse, and Endless Night.

They are called the face of Rock in K-pop, but I have to stress that they are first and foremost a k-pop group, so it's only correct to see them in that light. That being said, there are many metalheads in the fandom who appreciate their inclusion of rock/metal elements in their title tracks; I'm not a metalhead myself but I do enjoy rock, and Dreamcatcher is my 'ult' (ultimate) k-pop group.

Glad you enjoyed their music, I'd like to add that even tho this wasn't live, they do sound even better live than in the studio version. Not only from what I've seen in videos, I also had the opportunity to go to one of their concerts and It was the best choice I could have made.
If you enjoy the metal sound I would suggest to also listen to Endless Night, they often include metal/rock elements in their main music videos, so It's a Kpop group that metalheads often find easier to get into. They are really different from other groups, and their discography has a really wide range of genres, discovering them is a whole journey.

Thank you for reacting to dreamcatcher! They can't afford to take a live band when they tour because their company is not a big one but they put a lot of effort for us insomnias (fandom name).
Anyway, there are several live videos of them! One of my favorites is break the wall (link: ua-cam.com/video/T4tJ4aofRBg/v-deo.htmlsi=WkOlKRon2qN7_tN7)
And since you said about online hate, I think you'll really like Dystopia Trilogy from them. It's a 3 song storytelling and the lyrics are very important! The songs are:
    1) Scream
    2) BOCA
    3) Odd Eye
They are supposed to be listened to in that order!

You found a unique K-pop group that constantly incorporates rock elements in their music.
I recommend to you to start with their first songs.
Chase Me (debut song) - ua-cam.com/video/zihoyz0u_cs/v-deo.htmlsi=gj5AuB1UZybdAy4m

Veteran group who enjoys and embraces their sound. Not many girl groups last 7 years [seven year curse] in the kpop industry, DC has surpassed that and their company stands behind them.

"Dreamcatcher genre" is real. They are the only kpop group whose identity is based around fusing rock and metal with other genres. They are fantastic vocalists and the other half of their discography are mid-tempo vibe songs and ballads which are equally high quality as the headbanging workout tracks.
Kpop in general has tons of lip-syncing to pre-recorded vocals, Siyeon (pronounced she-yawn) especially enjoys extending notes in certain places during concerts to show everyone they are singing live. This video put the studio recording over the concert video so you saw them sing/hyping the crowd with nothing coming out.
Like I mentioned their songs run the full spectrum. I'd call Vision or Scream the closest in intensity to this, Chase Me and Good Night are a 2-part series that are also pretty close. Boca is their most popular video on UA-cam and they went viral with it; even if they only do 2 songs at a small appearance one is the current promotion and the other is Scream or Boca. Deja Vu is the title track that best highlights their vocal skill.
Edit: regarding your comments about keeping hate out of the world at the end... Scream and Boca are two parts of Dreamcatcher's Dystopia trilogy about how people use language to hurt each other ( bullying and hateful speech respectively). Boca is them literally promising to help you shut your mouth/boca if you want to make a hateful comment, so you might like it.
Dreamcatcher fans, Insomnia, are (almost) always kind and open-minded because of the example the group sets and we even have our own song about it.
