It’s unbelievable how The 5th Season builds and builds and builds, and then lets you down with a soft landing. It’s one of my favorite songs ever and always gets me hyped.
Secret Garden is easily one of the most beautiful songs released by a group. The fact that they released that so early in their career, without barely having an audience says a lot about the group. I've listened to this song since 2018 and once in while, gets on my most listened cause I'll never get tired. Pure magic.
After they appeared on Queendom their popularity exploded with Nonstop/Dun Dun Dance/Dolphin but this group of songs (Remember Me, Secret Garden, Fifth Season) is definitionally Oh My Girl. They are the masters at the dream fairy concept (except hyojung....she just always smiles)

The fifth season is the one of the only songs in this world that makes me cry. Like I fully get choked up and cry ugly tears because of how gorgeous and heartfelt it is.
one of the reasons I've been a fan of OMG since their debut is because their music is different from any girl group I know (as a kpop fan for over 10 years) there are a lot of groups with fresh innocent concepts (like APINK GFRIEND APRIL) but I've never seen anyone blend it with the classic dreamy concept as beautifully as OMG do. usually there's an image of female idols giving either "pretty" or "strong sexy" facial expressions, but OMG gives me (desperate?) expressions as if they're protecting something very dear to them(you will notice some of their songs they said things like’my precious one…’ which is something I find in 2nd gen boy groups when they ask for their lover's return in a dramatic way. this doesn't only apply to the girls' facial expressions, but even the melodies and lyrics take you to another world (literally universe) I think the girls' voices also play a big role (I realized this when I saw others covering their songs in survival shows). usually i feel like the voices of the sub-vocalists in other groups are there to fill the void but personally Arin/Jiho’s voices are the ones that give color and soul to their songs and honestly I can't imagine it without them & it's hard for rappers to master these concepts as well instead of girl crush and sexy but every time Mimi sings her part she takes the song to another level, everyone's voices are not only beautiful and strong but the harmony between the girls' voices is incredibly perfect!!
Seunghee is the second BoA bc when she was a child, appeared on a BUNCH of talent singing competition shows that were all the rage in the early 2000s (Superstar K, Star King, Korea Sings). From her performances on these shows she was actually dubbed "the 11 year old little BoA" bc even as an 11 year old she could entertain and sing and was just an all rounder like BoA

I just want to say, really appreciate how you take your time on finding more about Oh My Girl. This is like one of the most versartile group I have seen in my past 15 years of following kpop. If you like their songs, then you will be amazed by their b-sides. The Fifth Season album and DearOhMyGirl EP absolutely crushed it, even if you dont listen to it on youtube, give it a try on your private time. You won't regret it.

But was actually drawn to them when they did a roller-coaster dance challenge for Secret Garden in that show. and Secret Garden stays as my top Oh My Girl song.

So happy to hear your reactions! For me I started getting into OMG through the Japanese version of Secret Garden which I loved and then realized they were a K-pop group and not a JPop group - I was so surprised because I was convinced they were JPop at first!
this is why many fans got kind of upset when people where saying they were inspired by revel, not because is bad comparision but because omg has always been consistent with their music and concept. loved that you loved it, keep diving into their music cause their bsides are FIRE.

Dang, that is a deep rabbit hole you are going into when saying the voices are good. OMG production has always made the best of that they have available, regardless of who left the group. The only problem with OMG is that they were too full of contenders in a Korean saturated variety market. These girls are absolutely sweet, but put them in a competitive television environment and they will all slay anything in sight.
Since you really like SSFWL (Fifth Season), one of my favorite versions was when during covid, for the online KCON:TACT 3, they did a live studio band version (EunAkSil) that you'd probably love to hear.
OMG might not be the biggest GG but to my ears they are the best. They hit it time after time after time. Secret Garden is my personal fave lead song of theirs, as much for the sentiment as the song itself. It's an emotional trip. There is a parallel Earth out there on which these ladies are widely recognised for the talent and songs they have and they are selling a million albums every comeback.
Secret Garden is like their last song before disbandment bc their progress was not good enough since their debut but thankfully thanks to Secret Garden they got their first win and started to get noticed by general public
