Every genuine, born of the spirit of God Christian already has a spiritual director - He is called the Holy Spirit who is the power and truth behind the inspired word of God and it is Him who indwells every true child of God.

You either are a child of God by being born of the Spirit of God, or you are still in your sins and a child of Satan. The scriptures are clear in John chapter 1 that we have to 'become' children of God by being born of God (verses 12-13). It also makes it clear that being brought up or into a 'system' is no good. Neither can you wish it on yourself, or someone do it for you. Now YOU show me one scripture that says that we are ALL children of God. Jesus said: Ye MUST be born again to even see or understand about the things of God, never mind enter into the Kingdom.

Regarding inability of 1 priest to coach 20000 parishioners, perhaps a wiki approach could work: a church website with categorized FAQ page devoted to the most common questions that spiritual directors get, with links to short UA-cam videos that provide general answers. Not as good as personalized advice, but something - just as this great Pints episodes provides great insights. The value of such a website would be having this wisdom coaching all categorized / organized as a searchable resource for the layperson. Probably already exists

My spiritual director is a lay woman; she received her formation at a parish run by the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. She has been instrumental in helping me deepen my relationship with Christ. Key for me is that through her direction l have persevered in my prayer life during certain difficult family problems.
@@carolynkimberly4021 At it's core, Carolyn, spiritual direction is about spiritual companionship, where there is no attitude of 'I'm not where you are, but how would you like to get to where I am' on the part of the director or guide. There are plenty of competent and trained lay women and men who have been called to this ministry too.
@@carolynkimberly4021 I never said I sought out anyone - priest, religious or lay! If seeking direction, though, I'd rather work with a devout, experienced lay director any day than a not-so-devout, inexperienced priest and have a different confessor.

I think, too, that mutuality in the relationship is important; that director and directee help each other and mutually benefit from their meetings - again, an Ignatian idea. God bless.

Ie. my conversion came about through mystical (unexplainable) encounter -An illumination of conscience Many other things but keeping it brief. I took a photo just before morning mass, which I believe includes Our lady, An Arch Angel and more. How to get help to interpret?

Most people don’t need spiritual direction. They just need prayer, penance, and spiritual reading.
