My doctor asked what nationality I was, I told him I was Native American. He told me to buy your book because I’m pre diabetic.
He said, the food I’m eating (I was adopted by white people) will hurt me.
    I bought your book!

Wow! I am intrigued and I truly believe I should purchase his book as well. We were not meant to consume what is being sold to us. You should watch Chef Sean Sherman's Ted Talk, if you haven't already. His content is riveting and I am now an advocate for Native Americans and Canadian First Nations (and First Nations People everywhere) to open up cafe's, diners and restaurants to feature their clean and fulfilling healthy foods. Much love and a peace profound to you and your loved ones. Thank you!

I absolutely want to see indigenous restaurants coming up more and more. Return the knowledge, and the diversity of Native cultural foods. I know I am late to watching this, but it is still great.

Im so glad to have come across this. I'm sick of people only knowing of native cuisine as Puffy Tacos. It's ridiculous. The ingredients evolved on this land so we need to go back to an indeginous food system.

      I agree!
Another factor is the fact our forefathers worked hard and the high caloric diet was necessary, but modern times maintain the same intake and causes a lot of our health issues.

Aloha from Maui ~ Cheering you all on; restoring reality out of the ashes of belligerent occupation. I apologize for my English ancestors' ignorance, brutality, atrocious abuses, slaughter, slavery and desperate confusion. They began their campaign of colonialism in my ancestral homeland, the Highlands of Scotland. The Highland Clearances were their first step, including First Knight, the roots of the word F(ornication) U(nder) C(onsent) of the K(ing). The English bred our Scottish people out by raping the bride on her wedding night. They could not win in battle without horrific inhumanity-as-normal in their minds. Food, language, loving, mutually beneficial relationships, healing trauma, dismantling the veils and regenerating lands, bodies, minds and hearts aligned with and as Nature is our birthright. I stand with you: sharing Permaculture, regenerative Ag., Body Ecology restoring resilience through healthy gut biota, learning lost and fading languages, embracing the true beauty of culture and allowing the sickness, the multi-generational sickness of society to self-extinguish without forced painful participation. We are free. My ancestor (4x great uncle) John Slater went to Canada, married a Native woman and founded the Metis tribe with their 12 children, refusing to return to Europe. May this sanity of vibrant co-creativity and the beauty way, walking, learning, and flourishing grow and ripple and inspire this wildfire of love, true Love. No religion required.

Do you have a sourcing list? Where people can purchase the base ingredients, etc. I apologise if this has been answered or there is a link for this. In Hawaii we have the main base ingredients (Kalo, Ulu, etc.) but lots of our other foodstuffs are endangered or blocked from us.

Excellent question. Let's source what we can here, with our year-round growing season. Maui Permaculture Network (MPN).

I went to buy his book when it first came out and asked if he could sign it... he said he charges 100.00 for his signature...
I'm like, no thanks, dude. We come from the same reservation and the same people who have struggled for years. The whole thing put a bad taste in my mouth. *pun intended*

I was diagnosed with a disorder I was told is extremely rare, but doubt it is, I am missing the enzyme to break down sugars and starches first discovered in the Inuit it's called Congenital // Genetic sucrase-isomaltose deficiency or (CSID). More Native Americans need to get tested for this by gastroenterologist as it can be a cancer causer if you don't adjust your diet. I'm also, celiac and T1 diabetic. Original diet is best!

I was watching another video where you were speaking about food deserts. Why can’t there be community garden, community animals to help be self sufficient? I was once told on reservations that if a window gets broke the home owner has to get permission to fix it? So if this is the case is the government stopping something like a community garden, or is it lack of interest?

Its government trap policies, and lack of resources, like extra water.
