Great video! I 100% agree with the temp gun. I use mine almost every day, and I will have to check out those electronic wireless thermometer/hygrometer devices that you talked about, I like the idea of multiple enclosures' info being sent to one screen.
Great video something that could be on the next list could be something that’s is good for scrapes and cuts that your reptile might get so something like Neosporin You do not use it that much but it’s good to have on hand
Do you have any tips on how to calm down a bity snake? He is turning 2 this year and im kinda "scared" to handle him I will do it but I have been avoiding it😅 his bity personality I think is just a feeding responce. Do you think just actively handling him and feeding him outside of his habitat will tame him?
Definitely active handling with help. You could try to put gloves on while holding him just to make you feel more comfortable. Try holding him for 5 minutes once or twice a day and that should calm him down after a few months or so. You could also try to get a dog training clicker and click it whenever you feed him so that he learns that he only gets food when he hears the clicks noise. This could help him not expect food every time you open the enclosure and only expect it when he hears the clicker. They are super cheap on Amazon! I hope this helps!
@@Avocetexotics Omg that clickee trick is an amazing idea!! I have tried to knock on the glass everytime I feed him but I sometimes forget or knock on accident when im doing something else so that clicker thing sound like a really really smart idea!! Thank you so much for your tips!
Layla said it best! Just consistent handling and being confident :) I will say when working with angry animals, I dont put them back in their enclosure until they have calmed down and are behaving. You dont want to reward bad behavior, so if you do get bit, if you can, remain calm and once the snake has calmed down I’d wait a minute and then return them to their enclosure. Otherwise they can start associating bad behavior with getting rewarded with being put back in their home
