2023 Nature Inspiration Award winner, Youth-Evan Howells

Evan Howells is the winner of the Canadian Museum of Nature’s 2023 Nature Inspiration Award in the Youth category.
Concerned about the threats facing native bumble bees, 16-year-old Evan Howells from Whitehorse, Yukon, launched into action. His initiatives include conducting a study to compare pollen foraging of native bumble bees vs apiary-based honey bees-results he shared with the Yukon government, stakeholders, and the public. Evan succeeded in getting civic authorities to plant native bee-friendly gardens and flower boxes. He also developed a fact sheet to inspire others to help protect native bees.
